Wow, the prejudice against people with certain jobs or preferences in what they wear. Completely intolerable you bigot.

    Reported.

My apologies! I didn't realize you were a vampire :( I'll try harder to not make fun of your people. /sarcasm

A little over sensitive, are we? Piece of advice: never set foot in a comedy club.

But in all seriousness, I don't see any good reasons to remove a game mechanic already in that game since launch. Its not breaking anything, its not breaking immersion either. The player claiming it breaks his medieval immersion is having his immersion broken by his lack of lore knowledge, none of those costumes are outside of the realm of possibilities in Tamriel.... Its absolutely ridiculous and honestly we've lost enough things in this game due to "players' immersion." The last thing we need to do is lose more. We lost addon API and better information about mechanics/happenings around the character partly due to "immersion" fans.

haha! touche... I've run into some extremely over-sensitive people, so I assumed.

I agree on one hand that none of the costumes are lore-breaking per se. The context in which they are used, however, is. I can guarantee you that it will be all the rage for awhile, at any rate, to have armies of jesters and men in wedding dresses zerging Cyrodiil. I think that's what the OP is concerned about.

Personally, I have no problems with costumes and will wear one every now and then. In fact, I kind of want to make an alt named "The Rat Cook" and run around in a chef outfit. Anyways, if you are going to disable costumes in PVP, then it should apply to all costumes, regardless if they were obtained via the crown shop or from a PVE quest.
    I'm just a PvE'er in a PvP world...

I hope we don't end up in a situation like post-TOA DaoC, where 90% of the population were running around disguised as wolves, panthers, frogs, mushrooms, two legged crocodiles and cows casting spells out of ther arses.

Every time you went to PvP you asked yourself if your in a zoo or a freakshow...

I think it can add to the atmosphere. I had an orc character, for reasons of role-playing, wearing pink heavy armor for quite some time. She had been 'cursed' because when she made heavy armor for an altmer clan-sister, she did the curiass as orcish, rather than altmer. The altmer in question had already promised to wear it, and did, though quite pissy about the whole "excessive sensuality" of it.

So this was the altmer's response - you want me to be feminine in a way I don't like? Well the shoe will be on the other foot. The orc's armor became pink. Not red, not reddish, but flaming magenta pink.

So the orc had plenty of time to regret her decision, get teased by people I knew (and folks I didn't). I had fun. So did a few others.

The people who didn't understand or didn't like it - they had the option to comment in chat, to whisper (some did) or not care/react.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

They should get rid of armor dyes in Cyrodiil too. Otherwise, I'm going to keep convincing everyone I meet to wear hot pink.

Oh please. Cry more about Vampires. I stand by my personal truth that they've never been the problem, only the tool used by broken builds. When the Ultimate Generation changes with 1.6, you might complain about Vampires less often as you'll see Batswarm, less often.

Costumes serve a tactical purpose, so they should not be removed.

Costumes serve as a community enrichment device, so they should not be removed.

Costumes promote player association and camaraderie, so they should not be removed.

Costumes inhibit my ability to forget about the real world, and make it much harder to fully immerse myself into this completely fictional land of elves and monsters, in which most laws of physics are ignored, with a plethora of concepts and interactions that would be unrealistic in any other setting.

    3 v 1 - Costumes stay

Hi, watching the new costumes that will come with crown store I am worried Cyrodiil will lose its medieval atmosphere. I can't imagine a group of clowns trolls running down Cyrodiil :-(.

Oh I would love to see Izanagi running with the scroll wearing a clown costume. He will laugh at us when we are trying to catch him.

    Immersion.....PvP....

You have time for that? I barely get to look at the armor my enemies are wearing before I'm already trying to make them not alive anymore.

Now if the game limited gear loadouts to classes I could see this being an actual game play problem, but if it's just interrupting your suspension of disbelief? Give us a break.

    Meh, it's not about immersion.

It's about being able to cover up what type of armor you're wearing.

How would you feel if they had costumes that hid weapons so you couldn't tell if the guy you were fighting had a 2 hander or a staff?
