Will you stay subscribed or leave altogether after the B2P transition?

Just in case you didn't know, there's still a sub fee there and it grants you quite alot of crowns each month as well as some bonuses, and free updates too.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll be working night and day creating engaging and innovative content from here on out. They definitely won't have the entire dev team working exclusively on mounts, pets, and costumes that they can create in a few hours and sell for $20 each. Why would they ever do that? Who likes making a quick buck for minimal investment?

Another poll where the bias of the pollster is very clear. Makes no difference. I won't play the game under this model, no matter how reasonable people claim this change is. I came to this game because I like the subscription model; if I want B2P or F2P there are a lot of other options.

If you like the subscription option then why not subscribe to ESO Plus? It's essentially the same game.

No, that's your assumption. The goal is to increase revenues and minimize expenses, including reinvestment. By your logic every f2p game should be a huge quality project.

If you want an actual discussion you don't start with absurdly slanted poll options.

I won't support games with cash shops. There are many, many examples of bad outcomes with them. Maybe this will be the first one where that isn't true, but it isn't irrational at all to doubt it.

So, I'll vote in the only way that I can: I canceled my sub, and I won't look back. Let them prove that they'll be different, rather than my assuming that they'll be a special snowflake.

I am gonna stay and see what it looks like in 3 mos time, one of my chief questions will be, When will the New DLC's come out now ? Will they still be every 6 weeks or now quarterly, etc

I played DDO for years before ESO. That one went from F2P to B2P and I did a sub there as well. After the initial cries of out rage on the forums I am waiting for the pay to win threads to start up... oops, nvm there is one in the Alliance section already.

I'm going to stay sub'd and at least give it a chance until the end of March. I think next week when 1.6 hits PTS and we get to see the crown store will be very interesting. So far it seems alright to me. I'm not seeing anything so far that sounds like a big deal. Cosmetic items and some potions that are less effective than player made ones. As for DLC I'm glad they left the sub optional instead of killing it so you can just get DLC as it comes out if you are sub'd. Only time will tell though and its gonna be a interesting next 3 months for ESO.

I'll stay around like I did in SWTOR. If, like SWTOR everything is slanted and resources are geared towards cash shops / micro transactions I'll quietly move on.

Because you need a team of 100s to add mounts and pets to the game. LOOOL

From what we've seen Cash Shop is already created, there will be plenty of things to buy from the start anyway. Adding more things is not taking any of their valuable time.

Expect bigger content updates with the launch of P2P/B2P Hybrid Model. (Seriously stop calling it B2P, nothing wrong with it, however -> B2P games don't have a Subscription Fee).

You should have put an option in for I don't know yet. My sub expires March 30th. I'll be testing on the PTS and have a few days to play on my sub before deciding whether to keep paying to play.

With an influx of millions of console player revenues, development will increase. This assumption that a B2P business model will include less content is absurd. This is not a PC game going B2P, this is a B2P PC game going console. HUGE difference. Jumping to the conclusion of game ending.....ignorant.

Because pissing off your customers and not giving them anything for their money doesn't seem like a very good method of obtaining long term revenue.

If they just wanted people to hit it and quit it they would have made a single player game.

Wrong, as STO amply showed, pissed off customers leave and new one come to try F2P and drop some bucks in the cash shop, plus you do get something for your money. And no, they would not, single player game is sold once, cash shop has infinite resale potential.

Oh, sure, eventually it'll go downhill like all of these games do after one of these transitions. That's pretty much guaranteed. But it's not going to happen overnight... in fact, based on other games, I supect it'll be a couple of years before it goes down the toliet.

In any case, after the disastrous release, what did anyone expect? Development teams don't release in that state because they want to; development teams don't want the deplorable reviews, the discredit to their reputations, or the dissatisfaction of their customers. They release in that state because of pressures from investors... as in, "You're over budget and behind schedule! Release now or else!"

There's no catching up afterwards, try as they may... so, inevitably, games end up going F2P/B2P.

If you're surprised, you have nobody to blame but yourselves. Sorry. If you can't recognize marketing-speech and learn to distrust it, then eventually you're going to buy gold, get a reverse mortgage, tell your doctor to switch you to some pharmaceutical that will eventually kill you, buy an electric car, buy a pocket hose, contact Fender-Bender-Gender-and Mom to handle all of your legal problems, vote for a politician who's good at making speeches and nothing else, hire a tax accountant to file a short form, get a huge life insurance policy (you know you have to die to collect, right?), trade your brand new perfectly good car in for some other brand just because it's red, sign up for diet foods that will be prepared and brought to your door... etc., etc., etc.

There's no such thing as a good deal. Once you realize that, you won't necessarily only buy good products, but you won't be surprised when a product isn't as good as advertised.

I apologize for pontificating... but people need to take responsibility for their own purchase decisions. Companys exist to make a profit, not to make you happy.

The payment model is completly unimportant in the end. The bigger question is, will Zenimax continue with the great improvement through great updates on a short time basis still? Will the focus on group play? Will they look for PvE and/or PvP? Will the focus on solo-games content? The content counts - and not how you pay it. That will decide about the future of the game.
