Earthen Heart Skills

What is a fast way to rank up earthen heart skills? This is the only skill line I can't seem to lvl as quick as the others and wanted to see if there was a trick to doing it.

Stick a bunch of them on a bar and use them.

It's this but honestly I've found what the OP said as truth. It seems as if the EH tree levels FAR slower (abilities, not the actual tree) than others do.

Maybe because many of them have long duration? Ardent Flame has direct damage skills, Draconic Power spammable Talons and Dragon Blood that I keep up when I can even just for regeneration boost. But Earthen has mostly buffs and situational skills, so you don't use them as often.

I noticed the same on my baby DK. I just don't know of any more efficient way to level them up, unfortunately.

I realize, in hindsight, that my reply may have seemed rude or sarcastic, but I didn't actually mean it that way.

That's not how abilities level in ESO. It's based only on xp gain while said ability is located on the weapon bar you gained the xp with. It would be great if they also leveled based on use though. The more abilities you place on the bar (including Ultimates) the faster the tree levels, thus the faster said abilities level. Also there are a few trees than can be power leveled (not Class though) by equipping an item with "Training" on it that corresponds to that tree, like Light Armor if you want to level Annulment.

Nice to know. I thought it was a combination of the two, and I guess in a way it is because you normally use abilities in situation resulting in exp gain. I never tried standing in one place and spamming a skill until it levels up...

The easiest way you can tell is how I found out, by lockpicking chests. You gain XP every time you lockpick any chest. So I run around with a full bar of abilities I'm still working on while I'm out and about farming, so that every chest I find I gain level on said abilities.

Yeah, I know. I often keep abilities I don't use at all on my bar, just to level them up. But I thought actively using them speeds things up a little. I guess I took that from previous TES (that, and my habit of bunnyhopping, which I haven't been able to break even though we haven't had Acrobatics in years :D)

Different skills need different amounts of xp to level up, if you kill 4 or 5 wolves with soultrap for example you can immediately morph it, but dawnbreaker takes eons to level up. And so it seems with the earthen heart skills.

You don't have to use a skill to lvl it. Just have it on your bar when an xp granting event happens. For example, I have a quest load out that I switch to right before turning in a quest. Put all your EH skills on that bar.

The reason it seems to level slower is because some of the abilities arent really useful enough to warrant putting on your bar over skills from the other trees. A levelling dragonknight will almost always have searing strike, fire breath, lava whip, or fiery grip on their bar, and will similarly have dragon blood, talons, etc. About the only skill in earthen heart commonly used is molten weapons.

The skill tree will level faster if you use the ultimate from it too, though. Slot magma armor while you're levelling up and it will help.

Just a little FYI. I play a lot of PvP and if you grab the bounty quests for killing enemy players you get 15k xp when finishing them. So before I turn the quest in I switch all the skills I have unlocked for earthen heart abilities to one of the skill bars so when I turn in the quest that 15k xp goes towards that skill line. Seems to be working great for me and hopefully I should be able to unlock the last ability real soon.

Fastest way to level up Earthen Heart is to have the ones on your bar that needs to be leveled up and repeatedly do some dungeons that’s the fastest way I’ve seen it so far!
