It's still a stupid mechanic. I wonder if ZOS is even capable of fixing it at this point since there isn't really any reason to keep it and the only explanation left is that they simply don't know how.

If they could, they would have by now. Much like the animation cancelling meta we currently have.
Which is also why they probably won't respond to it either. It's one of the things that bothers me most about combat in this game.

Blockcasting and animation canceling are the two things I point to when someone asks me when Spellcrafting will become a reality. IMO... that will be never, since they have so much trouble balancing the skills they introduce themselves, which are supposed to be fully thought out. Imagine once we get our hands on a flexible system... *shudder*.

he actually has it :P I have seen him on it lol and yea block casting is still a thing but your stamina drops FAST! @zos PLEASE DO NOT FIX THIS!!!!!!! keep the stamina drain from blocking EXACTLY how it is in 1.6!!!! Do not adjust it at all! I love the fact that block casters drop so freaking fast. bye bye stamina!

I'm assuming you mean in PvP with aoe going on, right?

No actually, it is possible to drop their block casting abilities in a 1v1 situation. I have done so numerous times.

Did the cost to block increase?

Yes it did, and drastically as was needed!

You can see the block symbol but they still drop like anyone else cuz they dun run out of stamina! It's fantastic!

    Another /ignore.

Let me guess, you dont like not being able to block cast? I dont get why you would ignore him lol

No... I don't like his incessant juvenile banter. I don't pvp, so I don't give a damn one way or the other. I do worry if they increased the cost to block significantly... yet another PVE effect because their PVP system is garbage.

That makes sense then :D It really doesnt affect pve though as no one is having problems blocking or tanking in trials. Just pop on heavy armor and tank away! The 30% to block cost is huge with the current system in 1.6

As for the not being able to drop your guard, that is just insane. It is fully possible to drop your guard for a fraction of a second and animation cancel your light attack by going back into blocking.

I wasn't saying you couldn't drop block to la in most instances. And I agree that making it easier for a tank to block makes sense, but, for leveling, making block prohibitively expensive makes little sense. And, it certainly craps on people who want to level as stamina. You HAVE to block in certain instances... I just hope it isn't too punitive.

I'll be on the PTS over the weekend testing my chars to see how different it is.

The one thing you have to keep in mind though, @Robocles‌, is that the champion system allows you to get back to where you were on 1.5. You just have to spec it properly now :D you WILL notice a difference, but build your guy right in CS and it will be the same :D

I'm more worried about newer players with these thoughts.

I'll have my 70 CP...and will have tested/researched where to put them all, even on my sub vet level toons. I just hope that this whole "let the Champ System even it out" idea doesn't wreck lowbie content for people with no characters to gain the Champ buffs.

I suppose I can create a new toon and see how it levels compared to live, without using the CP.

70 CP doesnt even get you close to where your 1.5 character was though sadly.

I know. I'll be interested to see how console players who are used to moving from game to game respond to the way ZOS obfuscates their intentions.

No it sure doesnt, but thats the point. Gotta earn it :P did you see the passive in the lady?? Reduce the cost of all stamina abilities BY 80% when you break free from cc. Last 8 seconds. WTF! lol couple that with reduce stam cost and medium armor...GG! 100% cost reduction.....

Blocking period seems to be using way more stamina.

That in itself is a nerf to block casting.

It was broken before, now it's fixed. I gotta say it feels good to completely wreck those block casters on pts. All those big talking players who thought they were actually good are in for a rude awakening.

I really like the current state of blocking in the PTS.

It's very useful, but there is more to it then just keeping your block up constantly at the moment.

I'll take whatever I can get at this point. I'm happy with the change. Blocking should be reactive and skill based, not a paperweight on your keyboard.

    I agree, except it isn't.

You can still hold down block but once every 8 seconds you have to hit something..... it's hardly a huge change.

And just like i said in every previous post about Block Casting..If you nerf block casting you'll just force people into stacking shields.

Right now Blocking on PTS even with full heavy and block cst reduction with shield will have you drained in seconds...So its Shields or nothing now on PTS.

    Good job people.

the amount of stam drained from blocking went up a ton in the pts...and adds hit for way to much damage...so stopping to do a light attack will kill you as the tank now.
