ESO has encountered a problem and needs to close

I recently reinstalled the game and everything had been working fine for a few days.

Now though everytime I close game it tells me it encountered and error and needs to close. The game plays fine. It hasn't crashed. I can minimize and remaximize without problems. When I close the game I do /camp, back, back, quit. After quit is when the error comes up.

I have tried to do a repair through the installer, but it still happens.

    Hey there @DMuehlhausen,

While that's probably the best time for the game to crash, we'd still like to see if we can get the issue resolved!

The first question we'd like to ask is if you're running any add ons. If so, please give a try to disabling them and then using /reloadUI, or the Reload UI button on the add ons interface. Once that has been completed, try exiting the game and let us know if the crashes persist.

Gotcha, thanks for letting us know @DMuehlhausen!

Since you've tried the classic repair, our next suggestion is to change the display mode for the game to see if it helps. This is in the video settings. By default, it is set to Fullscreen (Windowed). Please give a try to changing this setting to Fullscreen and let us know if the issue persists.

If you've changed the setting to be Fullscreen, give a shot to changing it back to Fullscreen (Windowed) and let us know if it crashes. For science!

I've changed to Fullscreen (Windowed) and shut down and started up and closed out. It's still giving the ESO has stopped working.

So just today it finally crashed on me for the first time while I was in the game. I entered a public dungeon in Shadowfen, Atmaz I believe it was. On the first 3 mobs there was a runtime error and it closed.

I too have the "problem" of the game crashing when quitting. I just tried starting the game, not logging in, and then quitting, but i still got the crash pop-up. I then tested the same thing but disabling the Amd Gaming Evolved in game statistics tracker, and the crash report disappeared. Might be that the statistics tracking is interfering with the game being able to quit properly. I believe that I have been having the crash issues for less than a month, and the time period coincides with me downloading the new Amd Catalyst Omega drivers, along with the Amd Gaming Evolved application. Doesn't seem to be a coincidence to me.

I'm still running all the stock drivers that came with my system, which is only about a week old (to me). The first few days there were no problems. Not aware of any updates that went through either.

    Hey there @DMuehlhausen!

We may need a bit of additional information in order to determine what is causing the crashes. If the issue continues to occur, we ask that you submit a game consultant file to customer support. When you submit your ticket, you'll receive a ticket number. Feel free to post that here and we'll try to see what's happening. Thanks for your patience!

This is happening to me as well. I run add ons unlike @DMuehlhausen so I know the problem does not have to do with that. It has been happening before and after the patch 1.6 and while it is not a game breaking bug, it feels like there would be a very easy fix to this.

This happens to me as well with nVidia drivers.

Oddly enough it only happens on my pc, and not my girlfriends. We have almost identical desktops. Same drivers, but I have a GTX 670 and she has a GTX 760.

    Both windows 10.

Different ram (16gb vs 32 gb), and slightly different i7 cpus.

Not sure what causes this issue or if it's windows 10 related.. some other windows 10 apps crash for me (mail, calendar) without reason, but is largely reported by more than just myself.

Not sure if this is an nvidia thing or what.
