    I feel you.

A lot of friends I made since beta haven't logged on in many months. Even though I'm at the point where I can solo virtually everything except vet dungeons, it is unfortunate that I am not experiencing as much groups as I used to.

It could also be that my main is only VR10 and most are at VR 14 at this point / on other maps.

Hopefully the champ system will make it much easier to make new friends, since you now only really solo from 1-50, rather than 1-VR10.

Yes, it's easy to meet and make new friends during 1-50 but when you have been in vet zones for last six months you rarely encounter other people, unless you're doing dungeons or craglorn, man.

When the game first launched, people were rather freaked out about other players knowing the @player name. Also, there was a time when I think gold sellers were sending friend requests in order to build a customer database.

Coming from that era, so many years ago, I still think back to that whenever someone wants to "friend" me. Do I know you? Who are you? Why do you want to be my friend? What scam are you running?

Of course, my in-game user identity is well protected through several different aliases, false identities, shell companies, and two Nigerian princes. I have no idea what I am worried about.

Wow, OK this thread is an eye opener for me....I have exactly the opposite experience. I go places they are bustling with people. Random pugs on similar quests, I go into town see lots of people, have a very active friends list and very active guilds with tons of social element.....maybe its an RP thing and I just bump into a lot of people who are less interested in stats and more interested in having fun and creating stories....I'm actively trying to keep the social element down ATM because it is overwhelming....

All that said, I suggest you try RP, join a RP guild and get involved for a week....and see if it improves your fun factor...maybe not but hey what else are you going to do? Keep trying to solo vet rank dungeons?

I personally have a very difficult time making friends in MMO's simply because I have a hard time playing in the same pace with others. I'm either too slow or to fast for people. I tried joining a RP guild but it's super lame since everyone is just sitting in a tavern talking nonsense, and when I suggest a RPPVE event people don't seem interested.
Maybe it's just me but I find tavern RP EXTREMELY boring since there is nothing actually happening, but I really like other aspects of RP which, from my experience, aren't happening in ESO.
I played loads of RP-PVP events in WoW and those were amazing. I would really like to see Cross-Faction zones where we could do RP-PVP and interact with other alliances.

I thought I was the only one...

I am right inbetween those who care about stats and levels and those that care about RPing. I don't like to grind for levels and run spreadsheets and I find RPing is a bit too much like "playing pretend".

I have my character, he has his story and he runs through the quest content with that in mind. There is only ONE person I play with regularly and that's only because we created characters together and we only play those characters when we can play together. I would love to have a few more players that are willing to do the same thing but it's hard to sync up schedules.

I've left the social aspects of ESO for my "end-game" content. We'll see then.

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Been playing since Beta... and I just removed about 120 friends from my contact list. About 20% of them online at the time with most of them logging in when I'm not on. Taking advantage of social tools kind of requires you to be sociable first. Not saying you aren't, but it helps if you approach other players as potential friends and group with them. The one's you like, ask for a friend request or submit one. Most will accept willingly because they like having people they can talk to and group with as well.

I get friend requests every now and then but mostly it's from people I don't really care much about - but I absolutely have to add: I also do not seek them out. Why? Because I have an absolutely stable group of friends who are active at the same time as I am. Because I am friends with them for what.. 4+ years now and we actually moved to ESO together. So I'm not really looking for more but I also wouldn't mind knowing more. Actually we just introduced someone to our circle of lunacy a month or so ago and he's proving to be a nice addition already.

What I can really live without is people that are on my friends list which I do not know from more than a single encounter. Those.. well.. they are like facebook friends. They're not real. They just are like "Yeah that was nice, let's be friends" - whereas friendships have to be taken care of and involve growth over time.

My advice would be to seek out social guilds of mutual interest - be it RP, raiding, casual PvE, PvP, crafting or whatever and really get to talk to them. Introduce yourself on their forums even and build relationships from there.

Just don't let anyone negative drag you down and discard such people - and enjoy!

I had people in my friend list in swtor, but I never saw them in game, so after a while I ignored the friend list, and I'm still ignoring it in this game.

You want to play with people join a PVE guild, otherwise the population is generally friendly enough.

I don't use my friends list. If I want friends I join guilds.
I hate getting @Randomplayer101 spamming me with a friends request.

Too much Facebook mentality involved in it, and I despise Facebook.

All my friends left the game because of the fail VR system and there being nothing to go for once they reached max level and were full VR12 legendary gear. No special mounts to get etc. Cyrodil didn't offer them anything.

Unfortunately for them there will always be an end-game scenario where they've played all content to irrelevance. Did you mention to them that there has been V14 out for awhile and a new zone full of group centered content and that there were Dailys they could take? Perhaps creating another character? How was the VR system a fail for them if they were at max level? Lots of questions here and mosty just seems they would have jumped ship if a seagull defecated on the deck.
