    I'd want a refund

    This.

You can't voluntary pay, then play, hundreds of hours and then expect a refund when they take the ongoing cost away. My brain hurts.

Not true. When someone buys (and pays) for an MMO, they're buying (and paying) for an ongoing process, a product that is supposed to evolve and grow based on their promises. There's are hiccups, of course, but the linked interview is a key part of what they promised.

Saying that is like saying that if you vote for a politician that does something wrong two years later you can't complain because you voted two years ago.

Nope... when you pay for an MMO you are buying 30/60/90 days of game-time. nothing more.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

i personally like how DCUO does their free to play ie extended trial. You can play the regular game for free all the way to cap with the only real restriction being a cash cap to keep gold spammers at bay. If you want the newer power sets and weapon choices alerts duos etc you have to pay 10 dollars per a DLC. Or if you subscribe for the 15 a month you can have all the dlcs for free unlocked as long as you are a subscriber. They have lock boxes but are free to subscribers to unlock and just give base furniture etc. Also their cash shop sells conveniences only no gear just appearance items bank space etc.

You are paying for access to software. Nothing more. You don't actually own any part of that software and even the progress that you make in the game is not yours to keep. If they shut the server down at the end of your bill cycle you would have nothing.
There is no consumer law in the world that would cover consumers because the ongoing cost of a service became optional.
