PC vs XBOX One vs PS4...what will you be playing ESO on the most and why?

I'll be playing on consoles. A lot actually goes into how I evaluate my enjoyment of a game on a certain system.

Before you respond with "Bro....PC graphics are all that matters..." I'm going to have to stop you right there...

For someone who owns a self built $3,000 PC (which has had a Titan, 980, and a R9....by the way buy the 980 if you are looking for the best value), PS4 (where is my white 1 TB????), XBOX One (Advanced warfare bundle baby), XBOX 360 (500 GB), PS3 (500 BG), Vita, 3DS XL...I just want to say this...

Graphics is NOT everything. A lot of people will often ask me why I keep upgrading my XBOX 360 and PS3 when I already own a XBOX One and PS4. The answer is simple....XBOX 360 and PS3 not only have a massive library but you can play a lot of the newer releases for less money. Then comes "the graphics are so ugly though!"....not in my opinion. I think it is all in how the company that created the game used the XBOX 360/PS3 components to enhance its visual appearance. It is not as night and day as people make it seem. Some of my PC games look very close to XBOX One and PS4 even though people will lead you to believe they are miles apart.

Also...I'm ashamed to admit this...but I do own a Wii and Wii U. I love Nintendo as a company...but why they can't go back to making just a normal looking console is beyond me. I don't want to exercise while playing games or use my controller as a steering wheel. I just want a NORMAL CONTROLLER and a NORMAL LOOKING CONSOLE! It is not hard Nintendo...get it together....

"But what about the MODS???" .....Consoles now give players the ability to download mods/addons directly to the game.

Another reason I prefer consoles is that people are "less likely" to hack games. We all know that hacking is impossible to stop completely. I've always picture hacking as like being in a sinking ship filled with holes on the bottom of it. Every time you plug one hole another one appears causing you boat to continue to sink. Hacking on PC destroys some otherwise AMAZING games. However, on consoles you "rarely" see hackers.

You can sell your console games. When is the last time you sold PC game that has already been downloaded?

Consoles are less of a headache. Every single person reading this whether they want to admit it or not has installed a game on their PC that simply does not work. Then we frantically go online looking for solutions from pompous arrogant computer wizards who only offer short solutions all in code. We spend hours opening files, forcing changes to launch resolutions, manipulating data in the files, downloading software to be compatible with the files....it can be a real. Console users for the most part just shove the CD in or start the download and play. They never even have to search for the latest updates on some of the God forsaken sites that make it almost impossible to know which driver to download.

Controller features. I have a XBOX One Microsoft controller for my PC. It's very nice but not compatible with a ton of games. If you played on XBOX ONE and PS4 you'd probably feel the controller rumble when you take a large amount of damage. It just enhances the experience.

The big one though is the keyboard....yes you can "buy" a keyboard for consoles...but seriously who would do that? If you don't have a keyboard for your console then you use the analog sticks to type. Or simply use a mic. I think most players though would enjoy seeing hardly anything typed in zone chat unless it was super important.

Anyway....tell me what you guys think!

I was only playing on PSX years ago and always had PC in my house. This never changed - i have high end PC also for work so there is no point to get console. Maybe someday i will get console to play with my wife but for now we use PC + Laptop.

And i hate Gamepads - only use it on PC to play Platformers like Super Meat Boy etc :)

There are some AMAZING games and features that you simply cannot get on PC. And on consoles you might have a better experience in some games than PC. For instance on console I rarely run into PayDay 2 hackers....yet on PC Ive yet to play a game without at least one hacker. That's a HUGE difference.

But the flip side to that coin is that on console games like Diablo have localized servers.

    Can I have a 3DS version please?

But seriously, I don't have any of the new consoles, so the answer is easy and besides, it's a TES game. Why would I ever play a TES game on console?

I'm sure they are, i would love to play for example Heavy Rain, new Silent Hill is also on my list + few others. I remember how much i enjoy Crash Bandicot on PSX , but still i can live with out them + we have times when i can watch on YouTube game play (not same experience but always something :pensive: )

Hackers are not big problem on PC if company fight with it. PayDay2 is not PvP experience so not problem and game is designed to play with friends then random people. They always ruin Stealth runs :disagree:. I dont play CoD & BF But if I would meet cheaters in CS:GO or Dota2 i would rage.

Also i like MODS and other tweaks.

    It's all about preferences :)

No...I'm asking ESO fans which system they will be playing on. An Elder Scrolls fan that wants to play the newest ES game can only play it on PC....so they might vote XBOX One or PS4 because they know that they will switch once they have options.

    PC.

I can upgrade it myself, I can repair it myself, I can run other programs alongside the game (dual monitors). Chatting with other players is much easier and more intuitive on a computer. I can adjust/tweak settings directly in the user settings text file, giving me more control.

Those are a few of my reasons.

I'm ashamed to admit I didn't read it. Now I have and let's see...

    1. Please show me proof that ESO will have add-ons on console.
    2. Hacking. I'll give you this one.
    3. I doubt re-selling ESO is going to be possible. Most likely there's only one account activation per disk. Besides, I don't have to sell my games because I usually buy them heavily discounted. Consoles have used game market, PCs have sales, it evens out.
    5. Less of a headache. Sort of, but it doesn't mean consoles are problem-free. A moment of silence for our brothers and sisters playing Skyrim on PS3.
    6. Keyboard. Analog stick isn't an adequate replacement for me. Neither is a mic: one, if I have to deal with random idiots spouting ***, I'd rather see it in written form which I can skim over instead of hearing their voices. Two, it makes communication more difficult for people who speak English with thick accents. Written broken English is easier to decipher. Three, I'm painfully shy and I almost never use voice chat.

Also, I specifically said TES games, not all games. I'd play Dark Souls on console, but Skyrim only on PC. Why? Mods, of course. Ini tweaks. Fixing Bethesda's atrocious interfaces. ESO is going to be exactly the same - no add-ons, no fun for me. I could do it if I always played on consoles and was used to it, but once I started using mods - even just tiny ones - there's no going back for me.

OK to post you must have active sub....to pc, many mmo players are not tes peeps and many tes peeps are not mmo peeps (yes there is some overlap, but not exclusivity) the only thing all people reading this have in common is that they play eso on PC, therefore you are indeed asking a bunch of pc gamers if they will switch...seems predictable to me...same as if you asked in an Xbox forum most would say xbox....

OP you left out one important one for consoles though. The "sitting on the couch factor".

With a controller you can do this, with mouse and keyboard, not so much. I am sure most console players probably have the vision of PC'ers sitting at a desk, staring at a 20" monitor and they are not wrong in most cases.

However I vote PC. Mods are far, far more robust than consoles, I have had few problems with games not playing, and truthfully have had just as many console games bug out (the difference being on a PC I can Google the problem and look for a fix, whereas on consoles you are stuck with it until a patch. The same "unhackability" consoles enjoy to prevent hacking also prevent this kind of player initiated fixing.)

I also like to upgrade my PC every couple of years, which is so easy that about an hour of self learning is enough to figure out how to replace the whole thing piece by piece if you desire.

    'bout it.

I'm on the couch on my laptop....used to be on the couch with a wireless keyboard and mouse with a projected 10' diagonal 1080p ...but it was too big. So now it is just the laptop on the recliner.

Controller support for the PC version. Problem solved. It can already be done with third party tools, but official support is preferable.

Oh I realize this, but most who play on the PC would simply not wish to go to analog turning, analog mouse movement and limited number of buttons.

So often PC gaming is keyboard and mouse which is tougher to do on a couch comfortably.

Gaming laptops can be pretty powerful, but you run in to the same "upgradability" problems as consoles, and for many PC'ers, laptops are just not the best for performance.

My point is not that it can't be done, just that PC's advantages (large powerful towers, keyboard and mouse) tend to force it towards a desktop setting. I tried using my laptop on my couch once and found it to be uncomfortable.

Run max settings, upgrade every 2-3 years, oh and 17"+ wide screen laptops have full size keyboard. Add a wireless mouse and a lapboard and blame!

The one downside is that a solid gaming laptop weighs about 15 lbs so its not like your air notebooks.....

Standard voice control features and motion sensor controls.....you know those are standard because Xbox only has 15ish buttons....it better have alternate controls. That said PC can have these features if desired. Also, there are tons of free games on PC....but what does any of this have to do with gaming and more specifically ESO? It's just small ui changes.

Lolwut? I guess you never saw the powerpad or n-force or powerglove... Nintendo has long been about interactive motion and body control. Hell, my first packaged shipment of Nintendo was with a powerpad and a laser gun. My buddy played games with his power glove (which only sometimes worked). The N-force was an epic fail, but a neat idea.

    PC forever and ever.

I spent my childhood with PSX, playing all the GTA's, the crash bandicoots (First I played was 2, then 3, then i bought a platinum 1, then CTR :-)), hell I even played Duke Nukem 3D, Land of The Babes and Time to Kill, Gran Turismo 2 is to date my fav racing game, and I haven't found any racing game that comes even CLOSE to that :-)

edit: oh wait I had an Atari 2600 prior to that, then the PSX.

Anyone remembers the "pirate" trick with swaping the original disk with burned one, then original, then burned to boot ? It was a hoot, first thing i learned before i got the beast chipped :-)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IW3cFEOLNWA

About a year ago I bought an X360 just for GTA V. Finished it, got disgusted with the graphics and framedrops all around, and the console constantly overheating while playing, even the power brick started making sounds, and sold the game. I kept the XBox only for Kinect Sports and such. And even now I play on an xbox probably once or twice a year (be it new year's or a party ). But i use the controller with PC. It is THE BEST controller you can have (given it was bundled with the console and the wireless receiver cost almost nothing).

So, yeah, I grew up with a console, but I never went back since PC's could handle graphics and got AAA games :) The dawning of my console gaming era is marked with Black & White 1.
