Bitdefender suddenly kicking off about TESO

Bitdefender Total Security (PC) has just updated itself and now kicks off each time I try to run the ESO launcher advising "Infected Web Resource Detected - The application accesses a web resource http://launcher.bethesda.net/ESO_EU/depot.patchmanifest that has been detected as infected. The web resource as been successfully blocked and your PC is now safe."

Anyone else getting this? I assume that it's a false positive and safe to ignore.

I wouldn't worry. That file is data, not code, and would not cause any problems for your computer even if it had some nasty stuff in it. Which I doubt.

If this is not a false positive, ZOS servers have been seriously hacked, and we are dooooomed anyway.

In case you are having a problem loging into the game because of this just go to BitDefender -> Protection -> Web Protection -> Whitelist and add "launcher.bethesda.net" to the list. Afterwards just run the launcher again and you'll be able to login. Cheers

You are getting a mismatch of SSL certs.

They use http://www.thawte.com/code-signing/index.html for their SSL certs and it seems that depending on how the code accesses the server it is giving you both secure and nonsecure assests, which immediately will flag all antivirus programs as potentially bad news.

This data is non-invasive and can do nothing to harm you or your computer.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Same here. This started happening to me today, though I haven't had any problem getting into the game.

However, last night all of my addons were just gone (literally not in the addons folder) and the launcher launched as if it was my first time playing ESO, which I thought was strange. I don't know why that happened either.

I uninstalled Bitdenfender 2012 and the game.
I reinstalled the game and reinstall bit 2013 after.
    For now everything works fine.
    You can try.

My copy of Bitdefender is now behaving itself; perhaps today's update sorted it out.
