Problems with screen shots on Mac

I have never been able to get screen shots to work in ESO on my Mac and wonder if anyone else has had trouble. If I use the Mac screen shot command (cmd shift 3) I get a screen shot of my desktop not the game. If I try to use the in-game f9, nothing happens. I have a black widow keyboard and have checked and the f9 key is mapped to f9. Also, I've submitted bug reports in the past and that screen shot function (as part of bug report dialog) works just fine. I would love to take amazing pics of my characters like everyone else but am not sure how to fix. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
