Large scale battles disguise the fact that the class system is imbalanced .. The bigger the fight is - the less depends on individual player and yet he feels like he contributes a lot.

Add official small-scaled PvP... and it will be really hard to explain why some classes perform worse than others if 4x4 or 2x2 or 1x1 or whatever bracket is official and therefore every player will expect that the only decisive factor in defining a winner would be personal skills.

I think, small-scale PvP is awesome because you have guarantee that you won't be outnumbered and because your personal skill matters more.. However, I don't feel this game is ready for that. I don't feel that Nightblade will make impact comparable to DK's or Templar's impact.

And I didn't even mention builds' balance.. Stamina, magicka, different variations of skills - many of them making perfect sense logically but simply not working because of how their actual mechanics and numbers..
Sure, if it was wow-like game, where players would have access to all the class skills - at least ZoS would have one fewer thing to worry about.. But ESO seems to be pretty difficult to balance. (Just my opinion).

Don't some people already do that anyway? Or at least they used to, dunno if they still can duel now without FCs and all. Afaik, these people actually find class balance okay far as 1v1 goes. Granted, that might've changed by now but still.

And while I generally steer clear of Cyro, I don't see why not. It wouldn't hurt anyone, it would make a ton of people very happy, it would give players something new and interesting to do(without actually having to develop new zone/dungeon/storyline etc). Win win win.
Who? That dueling guild members? Well, I guess they are the minority though. It's cool that some people find the game balanced, but let's be honest, the majority of people want to use something else rather than resto staff+SnB.

Class balance for 1v1 is pretty good. But for 3v3, i'm not so sure. For example, the Templar's breath of life heals 3 targets, so it'll be harder for 3 non-templars to beat 3 templars than it is for 1 non-templar to beat a templar.
Are you sure? Or do you mean it is good provided both opponents use certain builds (usually light armor+ resto staff+1h and shield)?
Because I see no way a NB in stamina build would successfully 1v1 with someone in FOTM build. Those guys will have self heals, a ton of CC and all those nice things.. Or what about platewearers? There're players that want to play warrior-like characters..
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're not right. I'm just questioning you because I haven't been PvPing in a while. But what I remember is that some builds don't have chances in fair 1v1 fight.

Well, nowadays, stamina builds are much more viable than in the past. Just take a look at the Bowplar that posted the in-depth guide to animation cancelling. That dude rocks a bow and 2H sword and does quite well for himself in pvp. Go ahead and check it out. I'm waiting.

Did you see that? So skill is a factor and you don't have to just run the old meta, although it is still powerful and a lot of people do. There is much more diversity now. I remember the days when people were crying about how underpowered Templars are (my main is a Templar) and how bows were useless, etc.

Also, I've seen NB in heavy armor (maybe not full heavy) doing very well in pvp. I've personally seen great players of every class.

Now, it's true that among noobs and mediocre pvp-ers (myself included), DKs are probably the most powerful and popular class in Cyro. Reflective Scales spamming is ridiculous. Any noob can be better than any other noob on a DK, so the really skilled DKs don't stand out as well as the majority of ez-mode facerollers. DKs just get less respect, generally. But there are a few exceptionally skilled ones, just as there are in any class.

The combat in this game really is so deep and fun, but it usually doesn't have a chance to shine because Cyrodiil is pretty much about who has the biggest zerg.

By limiting/equalizing player numbers and putting them in a confined environment, you really allow skill to shine. Team builds start to matter a lot more.

Would love to see Cyrodiil finally fixed (AoE caps in particular) so that the blobbing zerg spam was not the be-all end-all of combat.

Even with Cyrodiil fixed, more PvP modes would make for great additions.

The dynamics of limited small-scale play simply opens up more opportunity to satisfy the playerbase.
