Would you like to be able to change your character's class?

At a shrine for some fee, would you like to be able to change your character's class to another class? As 1.6 and 1.7 approach and major game balance change in classes occour; and given the very alt-unfriendly nature of this game, is it fair to give players a chance to change their class rather than lose 9 months work to re-roll and get back on the curve?

You do know the upcoming changes are going to make it extremely easy to roll another character? As all you have to do is get the character to 50 and you get all the CP's that your other characters have.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yes. Considering how f**ked up leveling system is, leveling an alt is way too painful. So if I want a new class I'd love to just switch.

Are they going to share research, achievements, Cyrodiil rank and skill points, trials and vet trials achievements, titles, and other miscellaneous things as well, including across factions?

I'd have to say yes as it encourages the concept of "Play as You Want". However having played other MMORPGs this feels like something that would exist in the virtual shop, for cash, lets say, $9.99 or $19.99; comparable to things like changing player name (like in WoW) or buying a high level boost (level 50?). In fact, there are three things that would make nice additions to the virtual store:
    1. Rename Character
    2. Level Boost (Level 50)
    3. Class change

I voted no, though my honest answer is yes. Yes, I personally would like to be able to change my char's class at a whim(especially seeing sorcs aren't really top of food chain right now), but I think it'd bring too much imbalance to game.

I can already see all those vet 14 DKs running around and not even knowing what Dragonblood is. While lvl 1-50 content is easy and vet 1-14 can just be grinded, still, you get at least SOME knowledge of your class while leveling.

Consider also, that in every ES title there were never classes in a strict sense, you could always define your own class by your skill choices. Also consider that in Skyrim, the game much of the combat system is meant to imitate after completing the final DLC you could rebuild at will anyway you wanted to.

While I would have rather had ESO as classless, and have the "templar"/"dk"/etc be a questline we undergo in game, I feel like since it isn't like that ZOS needs to stick to some of the rigidity of the class system in the form of no class changes.

I clicked yes, not specifically because I believe in class change, but more so I don't think there should be classes at all much like TES. Sure there are "classes" but since you can make your own and even in any class learn whatever you want there may as well not be (hence Skyrim ditching the class system all together). Class change is about as close to no classes as I figure we can hope for.

You may be asking why I quoted person here. It has something I felt like addressing. Paid "Level Boost" to max is the most horrible idea there has been in an mmo that I can think of, possibly more so than the pay-to-win. When Level Boost to max is introduced, what you end up with it a bunch of max level characters being played by people who have no idea what they're doing.

Then they complain everything needs to be nerf cause it's too hard. Dungeon/endgame groups become saturated with these people, frankly causing experienced people to tighten their already restrictive grouping possibly even being more rude and whatnot.

People seem to think because they're a pro in another MMO they're automatically going to know everything about every MMO ever. Sure they won't have as much trouble as someone who has never played an MMO, but there's always a learning curve great or small.
And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

No. Stop right now. Level boost will never be nice to have in a shop. That's BS. No one should be able to pay their way to max level, that completely ruins the entire point of the game. I hate the mentality so many people have nowadays of "I don't want to play the game to level, I just want to pay and be the best." No, just stop.

This game isn't even a year old and people are already asking for paid boost to level 50. There are moments when I sincerely hope ZOS isn't reading the forum and taking cues.

Let's keep the available changes purely cosmetic, shall we?

It's nice to be able to respec. We made a choice at the beginning and we should be mostly-obliged to it. Re-roll if you want a different class: IMO.

Makes no sense. What if you were misguided by the class description and only understood another class would be better for you playstyle in end-game? Or what if they rebalance something and you need another class to be successful in that single role/task?

No, players shouldn't be responsible for incapability of developers to make all the classes equally strong and able to perform any task equally efficient.

Also, it's the TES universe. It makes absolutely no sense "lore-wise" that I can't run around with summoned daedras and use, say, shadow cloak or throw light spears.

Being able to change classes would make even less sense. There is the issue of everyone just changing to the most powerful class for PVP. There is the new champion system. They are working on spell crafting as well. All would be less significant if you could simply change class.

No, however I would love if we could learn the skill lines of other classes eventually. This is elder scrolls not WOW, and in elder scrolls anyone can learn anything. It has more about what is in your hand at the moment. I much prefer that kind of a system.

It makes perfect sense. No one in the TES universe should be restricted by his or her class. We all should have access to all skills on one character. Sure, if it's hard to balance - don't let us them some of them at the same time. Implement it similarly to vampires-werewolves...
    - Regarding PvP, the majority of people don't even play PvP. Then again, if everyone changes to the most powerful class for pvp, then one of 2 applies:
    1. It's not the most powerful class anymore or at least it's hard to see it since everyone is playing that. Also, if developers see that we all are playing one class, they will at least try to fix balance faster.
    2. PvP is automatically balanced because everyone is playing the same class => has access to the same variety of skills. Balanced PvP is good. No one suffers because he picked the wrong class in the beginning => people are more happy overall and no one sees no point in pvp because he knows that his class is likely to be owned by others.
So yeah, it's actually good for pvp. Even now, there're few builds in pvp.. and why would anyone care about "diversity" of builds that no one uses anyway?

Actually I'm against faction changes, but I don't say this much because I'm fairly certain them aren't going to happen. I don't oppose race changes, mostly because I've bought a race in SWTOR and it's not that big a difference, but I wouldn't do race changes either.

Class changes on the other hand I opposed in SWTOR (my last MMO), and I oppose them in this game. You need to learn the class, and the best way to do that is to level it up. If you can play the class without learning it, then you can just as easily level a new one up, I have gotten my new nightblade up to level 34 in under three weeks, and thats with levelling up my Alts as well. A decent player can get a new alt up to level 50 in under a fortnight, and if you can't, then you need to learn the class.

Not sure if you pretend or you really don't get it. Level a new alt in a fortnight means you are not doing any progress for 14 days. After you level the alt, you also need to get all the achievements you got with your main in order to say that you actually keep progressing now. etc. etc. etc. Not to mention, that your name is already taken by yourself :)
I leveled the class, I learnt to play it, but I see that another class does what I want to do and try to do with my class much better. Why do I need to be forced to level a whole new character, getting all the achievements to have my titles back etc? How was I supposed to know that my class will be worse for that role I chose? Why do I need to be punished for something I'm not responsible for?

-there is no reason to give the company reasons to charge us more for something that shouldnt be charged for.

-in most circumstances, the 1-50 leveling process will show if you like the class/playstyle or not. a bit of research on the forums will let u know what class/weapon to roll for each role

-this game gives you benefits of having multiple toons (hireling alts, future champion system, daily pledges/ bop items that are xferable though the bank system etc) make use of what the game has already in place

    - everyone would change to FotW every week and game would be relatively boring as everyone is doing the same thing (and we already lost the majority of our playerbase b/c not many ppl want to deal with playing Elder Robes Online)

on the other hand though, you could take away classes altogether, considering most class skills arent used anyway,
condense them into skill trees that have the same rules as the vampire/werewolf; spec into one of the trees and it locks you out of the others.

have a difficult (normal dsa difficulty for a solo player) and long quest (to prove that you have mastered that "class" and are ready for another) that will let you change skill lines, something a bit more difficult then paying a bit of cash to an npc that isnt hard to find by any means.
^ this will get u extremely attached to you character

then you could have several characters, and racial benefits could shine more, and give the players a much more attached feeling to their race and home alliance.

Why do I need to be forced to level a whole new character, getting all the achievements to have my titles back etc? How was I supposed to know that my class will be worse for that role I chose? Why do I need to be punished for something I'm not responsible for?

I get why you want it, but I feel that class changes make your choosing the class at the start pointless. Like many others I feel that we have gotten into the habit of changing everything at the first signs of disappointment. That instead of restarting if it's really that bad, like what people used to do, we just morph everything into what we want.

If everything is that changeable, then nothing has any weight, and it all becomes pointless. It's not about being punished, it's more about accepting consequences and starting over.

Oh sorry, I read, "Would you like to be able to change your character's ass?" and I assumed this was a workout thread.

Nah, personally I don't need that. I can make different characters for different classes.

I liked how the older TES games handled classes, so I'm kind of stuck with that way of thinking: You choose things and then you just stick with them, no matter how painful.

I'd rather eliminate my class and rely on skill lines like in every Elder Scrolls games.
