i find that the concept of "father christmas" being RP'd in Tamriel completely immersion breaking.
when i play ESO, i expect to immersed and explore the world of Tamriel. Last i checked, father christmas is not included in Tamrielic lore.

personally, as a jew, im surrounded by enough christmas in real life that i dont expect to find it in the games i play, especially ones that have such a strong policy on "real world religion and politics"

Are you offended that people celebrate Christmas because you're jewish?? Just wondering... I'm basically aethiest (I say basically because I don't know what I should believe in and haven't fully decided I'm aethiest yet.) and I have no problem with people talking to me about their religion. Believe what you want, that's cool that you have something to believe in, just don't scrutinize me whenever I tell you I don't believe in it. Vice-versa goes the same though. Don't scrutinize people for believing in something that you don't, that's all I'm saying.

no, i am not offended that people celebrate christmas, but i dont feel that it should be in the video game, which is a tool that most people use to take a break from the real world.
my issue is the fact that this thread is allowed, where it is clearly discussing real world religion, and that is against TOS, this has nothing to do with tamriel, and according to the TOS, i dont have to be subjected to this on these forums, or in game
other threads/comments have been taken down underneath the same auspices of "real world religion and politics", and i would like to see consistency of the enforcement.

Hmmmmmm - I am not sure if I should be offended that you are offended? Real world religion and politics? When did Santa run for office? Xmas was originally a fable about a real toy maker who gave children gifts. Or the Norse version where the Winter solstice marked the 1/2 point of harsh winters and people would take what extra food they had and shared it with others in the village so they could survive the rest of the cold months. (Neither story is religious in nature)

Now it has been commercialized by Macey's or some such department store. And we have some jolly bearded bloke flying through the air. (Still looking for religion here)

Maybe you are referring to the rebirth of christ? Oh, that was in late Jan. or Feb. (Would need to check the fact if I actually cared) When christianity spread, they adopted pegan holidays to get the populace to convert more readily when they said, "You have the holiday right, just not calling it the right thing." (Paraphrasing here, obviously I wasn't there)

Point is, people are celebrating for whatever the reason and good tidings to their fellow man. I read this whole post and I am trying to figure out who, other than me and you perhaps, that made this about politics or religion? And since you @DarkAedin, decided it was important to declare our religion (but not here cause we need to avoid religion and politics) I happen to follow the ancient Celtic religion. And like your eight days of Hanukkah (which starts on the 25th right, xmas day if I am not mistaken) I celebrate for 12 nights of Yule (also around 21- 2). Funny that they occur around this time. No matter what the reason is, we are all celebrating and sharing in a common theme, and this seems to cross that religious and (still trying to find it) political realm.
If you didn't want to be "surrounded by" xmas, you should have avoided this post. The title says it all. And if you want me to believe that you could have spotted the Santa pun characters in the game, I call B*********T. You'd have to call out all the fat characters. And how would you have got the Khajiita? Please don't say the red dress, I may just fall out of my seat.

Happy holidays all. Even the Scrooges.
Follow me if I advance, Kill me if I retreat, Avenge me if I die.

When this immediate evil power has been defeated, we shall not yet have won the long battle with the elemental barbarities. Another evil, it may be an invisible adversary, will attempt, again, and yet again, to destroy our frail civilization. Is it true, I wonder, that the only way to escape a war is to be in it?

If I die, you are forgiven, If I live, I will kill you.

Just to let you know that this one will be celebrating that traditional Khajiit festival of Fishmas in 10 days time. Santie Claws might just be hanging around Daggerfall City handing out Fishmas presents to Khajiit who are far away from home at this special time of year.
