Whats the different advantage from making a new character with correct race and changing race instantly? Nothing.. it just take more time to make a new one, so I still don't see a problem why this shouldnt be allowed. The people who say no is either a pvp dragonknight player with correct race they wanna be or a roleplayer. Elder scrolls is MENT TP PLAY HOW YOU LIKE, NOT HOW OTHERS WANT YOU TO STICK WITH HOW YOU MESSED UP WITH 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN THE GAME WAS NEW BECAUSE THEY DIDNT MESS UP RACE AND PICK LETS SAY ARGONIAN OR NORD INSTEAD OF A BETER RACE TO GET ADVANTAGE OVER YOU. I refuse to make a new character just to make a race change, this shoulndt even be a payment option, it should be implementen ingame so lets say you pay 5k ingame to swap race. How can this be pay to win when nobody is paying irl gold for it and everyone have access?

Geting tierd of all these pvp'ers and roleplayers who bother to stop me from having a good time ingame and let me play how I like. got 90% ancivment clear and have emperor title, and maxed all skills and level. ofc I wont delete him and start a new character cuz because some 13yo old kid who does pvp or 40year old guy tells me I cant swap race and need to create new character.

I'm a roleplayer. I want to be able to change race FOR roleplay reasons. So watch it sonny. ;)
No, you want a new character boosted to max level to start a new roleplay immediately after your previous character died. I'm not saying it's wrong or anything, but it's meta, not in character. Unless you're actually playing that mad, but brilliant alchemist chugging down experimental potions. ;)

On a different note, I don't remember any other TES game letting us change our race, so where's that "but it's TES!" argument coming from?

I don't believe I made that argument so I have no answer to that. As to your "meta" contention, since you realize there's actually nothing wrong with it...what exactly is the problem again?

There is a quest in Greenshade - the place at the bottom left-ish part of the map, where some elf tries to change himself into a khajiit via alchemy potion. He ends up as an Argonian instead.

Then do it this way but make the race you end up be a random choice.
Or he's just something of an incompetent alchemist. :P

And if the result is random, then it shouldn't cost $.

I'm just thinking of what it would be like if the guild mates I've been playing with for months suddenly changed races. It would totally throw me off...

Also, a "race change" would then have people demanding that they have access to the character creator again so they can tweak appearance. If the race change happened by just transferring the settings from one race to the other, there may be some interesting looks out there...

I personally don't need it, and like someone told me to earlier, it would probably cause players to exclude a specific race from groups because "you have wrong passives we need to min/max everything waa."

I don't have anything against it, so I voted for sweetrolls.

But give us a way to get more character slots, for those who want to make over 9000 different alts!

I've said it in countless other threads dedicated to this topic, but I'm not for Race Change unless its done like reincarnation in DDO.

That way if you want to jump race you have to start over at level 1, but like in DDO you have access to "Past Life" information (for ESO this would be some class skills or maybe just a smattering of active/passive skills from your past life). It should require a quest to maybe find an idol of Arkay or something so the player has to work to complete the change.

I have nothing against if my the guild suddenly says "every damage dealer swap breton if you wanna come raids", because it would be fun to be the best guild in game in trial time. If you don't wanna be the best player and max then simply find another guild that suits you beter, lots of normal pve guilds out there.

If anyone here have been here since day one, then you all know that zenimax changed the racial passivs over the past updates. How would I know they nerf some and boost other back in the days when the game was new? It was all just depending on luck in wich racial got a boost and wich got nerfed. :disappointed:

Racial got almost no effect on how much more efficiant you play out your damage dealt, I'm currently a nightblade orc magica user wich dealing lots more damage than any other nightblade in the raid party who are breton or dummer etc. I just wish I had chosen a beter racial for damage because when I started I wanted to be tank, but at endgame I changed my mind and wanted to be a damage dealer with magica. So me and my friends created all these magica build wich everyone is using in trials atm, like funnal health build for nb, crushing shock and scaling rune builds for dragonknights etc.

We really want to create the most optimal damage beast classes in game with the racial, and if zenimax allows us to swap racials to actully see the different effect we can improve the gameplay alot beter for these hardcore players. Also for the record since there is really hard to find dailiys as stamina thanks to magica beging to op with ower builds we are now testing how to make stamina beter, wich we have come really close to making

But I'm asking zenimax, please allow racial change on live server so we are not forced to test on PTS with builds + racials and then create a new character just to check it on live server...

I never said it would give anyone an advantage, I said that it wouldn't make any sense. You can't go from being white to Mexican can you? Exactly. It makes even less sense because the races you choose in this game are all more like different species of humanoids, which means you're completely reshuffling your genome which doesn't happen... however, there is a quest that a potion is used where someone changes races and that would work for me so go ahead.

    Here's a crazy idea:
How about instead of asking for race change, ask for racial skills revamp? Especially for Khajit, Orcs and perhaps Argonians to cut short the Dunmer Master Race episode.

Even better! Let each race have a pool of racial skills to choose from. Give each race like 12 racials and make players choose 4. Or something like that.

Anyway racial skills should be dealt with.

No. That'd break the TES lore, where the various races all have their particulars.

    Choice can be brutal sometimes.

Morrowind was a wreck once for me. I made a character, played a year as a mage. I made an awesome spell, most powerful thing ever. But was one point short with buffs of being able to use it.

I rerolled, and a month latter, made the same fricken mistake.

Live with your choice, or roll again. Sucks, but something in the game has to be constant.
    What next, new names also?

I like that your race is a major choice you have to make. I hope ZOS never adds a race change to the game. It invites in flavor of the month crap and it breaks lore.
  • Argantis_Dragonheart
31% The question should be though, "Are you likely to leave the game if..." Because that would give ZoS a better idea of how to keep subs happy. Many way want the change but be willing to stay without it, or not want it but be willing to stay with it.
  • Argantis_Dragonheart
Sadly, not the entire question is represented here either. I know many who have already left over class / race choice and the unwillingness to grind out another toon.

pretty much this. some people do not play more then 1 - 2 characters. I played all classes to cap to figure out the ones I liked then deleted 2 of them. because this game has SOOOO much to do and I really just don't want to re grind it all multiple times.

I have 2 "completionist" characters and that's it, I would love the opportunity to change their race. no not because of a hidden agenda or a secret build or what have you, that really does not matter to me in the slightest. but because I don't like the race physically or lore wise now after playing the game and learning about them.

the same reason people want to change their race or appearance is the same reason I would rather drive an Aventador rather then a focus. you FEEL so much better driving (playing the game) in something you like rather then dreading the task because your car is a piece of crap focus. hope that analogy helps get the point across.

actually it shows that most forumites don't like the idea, and if you frequent the forum you are a more dedicated player then the average (as you actually care to visit the forum)
most players don't frequent the forums (or lurk) and if you sent an in game pole asking "would you like the option to change your race?" most would probably say yes as its a win win, there not taking anything from you, as well as most casual players do not comprehend the supposed negatives of said choice.

Then make such a poll. Or are we basing on assumption now?

Race change is a *** idea. "This month we nerfed dunmer racials but buffed some orc racials", Dunmers suddenly become Orcs.
"Well, Orcs are OP now so we nerf them but this month we are buffing Khajit"
Former Dunmer, now Orc suddenly becomes Khajit.

    And so on.
You picked a race - stick with it or roll a new character how hard is that?

Actually they already buffed the orc racials.

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/113161/patch-notes-v1-2-3
Robust: This Khajiit, Nord, and Orc, passive bonus has been increased from 5% (Rank I), 10% (Rank II), and 15% (Rank III) to 10% (Rank I), 20% (Rank II), and 30% (Rank III).

Of course, robust is still a worthless racial. Since base regen is around 35, you basically get like +6 health regen (6 HP every 2 seconds). lmao!

... but nerf to Dunmer? Can't see it happening unfortunately.

Well, robust is useless but its the best racial Orcs have, next to - faster running (OP!) and 6% more damage from CHARGE ATTACK (totally op)
