Would you like to be able to change your character's race?

This is just an interest check. It's not about whether it should be a paid service, how it should be implemented so as not to break lore, what it might do to game balance because of changing the racial passives, or whether or not it is even feasible due to coding etc. Everyone is, of course, invited to discuss those things in comments, hopefully like civilized beings. :)

Yes, I would like to see ZOS implement the ability to change character race.

No, I hope ZOS does NOT implement this ability in any way.

I don't care if they do it or not. Just give me a delicious sweetroll!

I like the fact that some decisions have consequences. I don't think ZoS should ever add this ability or the ability to change class etc. If you want a new char then roll one.

I don't want it to be implemented... simply because it doesn't make sense. You can't start out as an Asian person and then become Caucasian. It doesn't happen and that's much less of a change then to go from an Orc to a human being or elf. That would not make any sense to me so I wouldn't like it

I would like to see it for one reason and one reason only. Roleplaying. I like to make villains. Mostly, they are slated for death. I like them to be high level though so I can play them in any area of the game I want them to be in. But once that villain has ICly "died" I want to be able to recycle them as a NEW villain. So not only may I need a race change but possibly a name, sex and/or total appearance change. I'm not stuck on class change, mostly because I understand that could be problematical from the coding side of things, and let's face it, I can dress them to LOOK like any class I want.

I voted yes to the poll question, because I wouldn't want to take that away from anyone who would want it. So glad it wasn't the question from the thread topic, because I don't want to change my own race.

Could I get a mod to change the title to:

"Would you like for all players in the game to be Imperial or Dark Elf?

That's fair, but I still don't know about the race change. I like the idea of roleplaying a new villain, but I really don't see any logic behind how you could switch races. Unless a god had mercy on you and gave you the wish of changing to whatever race you wanted... for a cost of course ;)

There's certainly no way to do it "within the lore." But that's not really necessary. This would be, essentially, a new character...with the stats and accomplishments of the old character.

If you don't like your race, then make an Alt. All races have weaknesses and strengths, play to the strengths and compensate for the weaknesses.

It's bad enough we can change our Mundus Stone, as that is in effect changing the date of our Birthday.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The Champion system will make this moot as a need anyway. Take a couple of days to get a character to 50 and they have all the points your formally VR14 character has.

You can do anything if you don't have a soul ;) WHICH ACTUALLY JUST GAVE ME AN IDEA!! What if inside of Coldharbor, there is an area that you can drink from some sacrificial pit allows your partial soul to be transferred between your body and another? Like there was another player who wanted to switch races so you drink from the pit at the same time and interact with each other, when you interact an animation plays (much like the soulshard animation) and you switch between the two bodies, retaining your knowledge and skills though

I would like to be able to change my characters' race. Passives aren't -that- strong that the game is going to explode if I suddenly have 3% more stamina than magicka. Also, not everyone in the game is a min/maxer. Nor am I suddenly going to be able to slaughter large amounts of people in Cyrodiil just because of a racial change. *also crosses fingers for more races later on that you can have new characters as, or race change to*
There's certainly no way to do it "within the lore."
There is a quest in Greenshade - the place at the bottom left-ish part of the map, where some elf tries to change himself into a khajiit via alchemy potion. He ends up as an Argonian instead.

Just curious - how would it be paying to win if, say....I - who has three character at VR, a 14, 4 and 1 - bought a lv50? I did the Aldmeri Dominion quests twice already (side quests and dialogue. Dialogue is almost an entirely separate quest chain by itself :D).

Not saying I'm for buying a lv50, because I'm not - just curious.

If you quest, it will take longer. Like about 25 to 40 hours of play to do 5 zones, so figure 4 days to a Week for someone who has a job. However you can grind out the levels with Mobs and get there in a couple of days. If you rush through the questing, your still going to have to grind if your in a hurry.

It's not a pay to win for everyone, just players who just join and buy a level 50 character. And don't forget though, VR's are going away in 1.6 so level 50 would mean they're buying a max level character, just like WoW did and I know a lot of people got mad at WoW for it

I'm not super comfortable with just buying level 50s actually. But if there are some restrictions it's not so bad. Firstly, you should have to have at least one level 50 that you played up through to begin with. Maybe you should even have to have been subbed for a certain length of time. And this might also be nice for the folks who really are just interested in end game PvP and pretty much view the 1 to 50 progression as a boring PvE torture they are forced to endure before getting to the content they actually bought the game for.

HA! That would be pretty awesome actually. So long as you could keep doing it until you got the race you wanted. Now what would be REALLY cool is if you could somehow slip a race changing potion to another player without their knowledge and then they'd have to go buy a cure to get back to normal! LOL

Actually I chose races on what I want to play, my Orc Nightblade and Khajiit Templar are the most fun characters I have.

But I wouldn't stop people from changing race.

My only stipulation is that it's done out of the game, I don't want to see people popping potions in game and transforming. There are lore based reasons for my saying this.

Geting tierd of all these pvp'ers and roleplayers who bother to stop me from having a good time ingame and let me play how I like. got 90% ancivment clear and have emperor title, and maxed all skills and level. ofc I wont delete him and start a new character cuz because some 13yo old kid who does pvp or 40year old guy tells me I cant swap race and need to create new character.

I'm a roleplayer. I want to be able to change race FOR roleplay reasons. So watch it sonny. ;)
No, you want a new character boosted to max level to start a new roleplay immediately after your previous character died. I'm not saying it's wrong or anything, but it's meta, not in character. Unless you're actually playing that mad, but brilliant alchemist chugging down experimental potions. ;)

On a different note, I don't remember any other TES game letting us change our race, so where's that "but it's TES!" argument coming from?
