REQUEST: Hide ALL Quest Indicators option in Interface Settings

Dear ZeniMax Online,

A few weeks before launch, you guys added an option to the Interface Settings menu that allowed players to disable the Quest Giver indicator in the compass and in the world itself. Now, as much as I feel this addition was a good one, I believe it is only a small step towards a feature that could be truly great. You should expand on this idea and allow players to disable all indicators related to questing. Meaning, it would be great if players had the option to hide every quest marker in the game, be it for tracked quests, quest completion, etc. Such an option would be wonderful for those that wish to maximize immersion, for the game becomes far more about exploration and adventuring than about being led by a quest marker throughout Tamriel.

There is currently an add-on that does this very function, called PinKiller, but it causes the game client to crash when the player goes through a loading screen, as manipulating the game's floating pin settings too fast leads to issues. After a teleport, for instance, the game loads its default settings which are then overwritten by the addon, often times leading to a crash.

If this functionality were available right from the game's Interface Settings menu, not only would the crashes stop, it would also make this option more accessible, especially for those that do not use addons (and future console users as well).

I am absolutely a fan of your game, and only hope it grows and becomes better. I believe that if there is anything I can do to help ESO, it is to make suggestions to you, the developers. I do hope you consider my proposal as I feel it will only prove advantageous to your product.

Thank you,
Stealth

called PinKiller, but it causes the game client to crash when the player goes through a loading screen,

Take a look at this thread, the two LIB addons may sort this issue for you

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/138067/psa-how-to-get-almost-all-your-add-on-setting-menus-to-work-with-1-5

I was poking around in the UI screen the other night and there is quite bit of the quest marker pins you can turn off. It looked to me like you could do what you want with the stock UI. You can also hide the entire UI with a keybind, look in your controls to enable that. Can't get more immersive than no ui at all.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The addon in question (PinKiller) has already been updated to work with patch 1.5. This issue has occurred since the addon's inception, back in April, and it has nothing to do with the content of the thread you linked. Even the author (Shinni) has recognized the problem and unfortunately he does not know how to solve it. The default UI currently only allows players to disable/hide the Quest Giver indicators. Players still can't disable/hide indicators for incomplete quests, unless they use PinKiller (but it leads to crashes as I have already explained). Playing without a UI is far from ideal, since I still want to see how much health I have, or the chatbox. The ideal solution would be to implement said options in the game's Interface Settings menu.

One nice thing about Caldwell's Silver and Gold is it is an untracked quest. If you select that, and turn off the other markers you should see little to no quest markers anywhere. Of course the game has this habit of selecting whatever quest in your list it deems appropriate, even if it is not the one your working on, and marking that. So, these markers may come back if you do that.

However we have been asking for simple changes to the UI since release and all they have given us is an email confirmation delete.

Only through PinKiller can you turn off other quest markers. The default UI does not allow one to do this, so your solution of making use of that untracked quest would still involve PinKiller, which would still lead to crashes.

It would be nice. And have it so our settings don't reset every time I log out.

What settings are you referring to? My Interface Settings were resetting as well, but Garkin made an addon to fix this and it works perfectly. I could send you a download link in case you are experiencing the same issue I was.
