Returning player. Whats changed in the world of ESO? Convince me this is worth it.

Hi folks. So, yea, that is a strong opening title, I guess. I feel it justified. I had a subscription for ESO for nearly 6 months. I began playing the game on the 5th of April, and my subscription was cancelled on ZOS end, after I missed my October payment, by not even a week. [and had they left it I WOULD HAVE PAID IT, AND THE ACRUED INTEREST] After that, having felt as a little person trampled in the dirt, by the company that make this game, I made the decision to give it a break, and did not renew my subscription 5 days later. [as I could have done]

This, being a subscription where I spent more time on the forums, hoping to support future content, waiting patiently for them to improve things, for them to make things better, and to fix issues, for them to make this the game I thought it would be when I got it. And that, is what hurt most about their treatment and attitude, that they don't value those who actually give a damn about their product, as opposed to many who play some MMOs. [and I am sure any real games lover knows the type I refer to]

That they would treat a subscriber, who would probably not play for more than 5 hours a week [if that] yet STILL choose willingly to pay the subscription in the manner they did, is what made me stop. Is what kept me away. So this is why I ask the question, and I want answers if possible from the ESO forum community AND forum staff. Convince me, truly convince me, is this game worth it? Is it worth it now to play, is it even beginning to shape up to the POSSIBILITY of the game I [and most who love ES] imagined it would be. And if not the game [and its not the end of the world, I can wait] is the whole thing worth my time? Are ZOS beginning to learn how to value those who value their product? Is everything here worth it?

I am aware there are some who may take this the wrong way, see it through the wrong lens, who will feel I am being unjustified. And to those I say, OK, you are welcome to what you think, I will not stop you or challenge you for saying anything, or calling any names or words, or expressing what you think about this in any way. But for the record this is serious. Not play. This is a genuine heartfelt cry out to this world I planned to invest a lot of time, patience and [for ZOS I guess most important] money on. I simply want to know, as one who feels distraught and hurt. Is this worth coming back to?

    OK, but if you read my OP you will see why. I do not need to be convinced that ESO could be a great MMO in time but its a package deal. I have my reasons for feeling something MUST convince me. Once you get burned like I did...takes something particular to make things just stop being bad.

    So essentially what you're saying is we still have no ES justice system [as all ES titles ought to] and the games pre lv 50, is STILL VR?

    OK, I am happy about the bots being gone. Before things here stopped for me, they were almost totally wiped out, with only some very few surviving. I am glad that continued yet I knew they would. Honestly though, I think they should redo the skill system they have in ESO, and make it much more like what you have primarily in Skyrim. [not including the unlearn/relearn function] Its good that the amount of new content that comes, stays at this pace...but for ESO to FEEL and that is paramount, FEEL like an ES game, it needs those guilds, and also needs spellcrafting as most ES players know it...not to mention a Justice system, which I mentioned at the start of this comment.

    I have no personal stake in your return, so I really couldn't care less. That being said, just read the patch notes and popular threads to make up your mind.

    I find it a bit suspect that you can post here without a subscription. Whenever a sub payment of mine fails, my forum account becomes inaccessible a few hours later, so I'm not even sure if this is a troll thread.

    I bought a new subscription just YESTERDAY. That is the reason for this thread. Please, do not insult me in that way. Say whatever you want about the stuff I said in my OP, that is up to you, but do NOT suggest what you did here. As its totally false. The reason this thread is even here, is because I want to know, coming next month [and do not worry, I will find out first hand in game too if its worth it] if it is worth hanging around. This is no troll thread, this is completely real and truthful and I AM asking what I am asking because I want to know what people say.

    I admit to not having read much further than the title. Simply because threads like these always make me think of the same singular response: Make up your own mind. Why do you need other people's opinions to form one of your own? Just play the game and you will find out soon enough if it's changed for the better or worse subjectively.

    Especially since you already bought a subscription. Do you buy a movie ticket and then read reviews to decide if you should go see it?

    Because its not just the game. I made my mind up about the game. Its not the ESO game I dreamed it would be two years prior to release. When it launched, the amount of expectation was huge, I understand that, and for me it was a huge let down. And I was fine with that. I was fine and happy[not with the game, more that it exists], and what's more PREPARED to wait. But the game itself does not a great game make. There are more factors to consider. I can and will make up my mind about the game itself when I load it up but those other issues I touched upon in the OP are just as important.

    You didn't get "burned". You paid for x amount of game time, and that time ran out. It's not like they owed you free time. Your argument that you only play a few hours a week is irrelevant.

    Actually I paid for a subscription. Were ZOS genuine in creating not only a game worthy of the ES label but also a great community, they would do as many very successful companies do. I said in the OP, I weren't even given a week, not 5 days even. If ZOS give a damn about their players they would offer a grace period [on the promise you pay subscription AND the missed days, obviously]

    Well, you said it yourself in your OP: Can you stomach dealing with a major commercial company that cares only about its bottom line for the sake of a product that some who work at the company care about but that appears to have been badly managed?

    I've stuck with it.

    Umm. You agreed to their terms of service which includes method of payment and time to do so. That your access was limited/locked/blocked, after non-payment was a reasonable and appropriate action on ZoS's part.

    Being rear end hurt over it and then subjecting everyone to your wall of text about it... nah. Zos did exactly what they should have. Sorry man but they are not a public utility cutting off your water, gas and electricity. Get over it.

    Pay and play or don't pay and don't. The game being worth it or not is relative.

    You pretty much summed it up...I did it before. I dedicated years to a game, to a company [still kind of do] who made that game, only for it to be bought out by "big corporation" and...they turned that beloved game into a shell of tis former self. How can I dedicate such attention to this, if I feel ZOS are going to be just like that?

    I can't speak for you or convince you of anything, I can only tell you in my opinion for me it is well worth the money, when I look around at what's out there today, to me even with the problems ESO is still heads and shoulders above the rest, I have had to call customer service a couple times had good response, in a short amount of time, I enjoy the game play it is not just another cookie cutter clone mmo, I have played all the single player elder scrolls games, and been playing mmo's since the 90's.

    It just boils down to what do you expect, and your play style not all games are for everyone, and I try to approach all games with an open mind ESO is still a new game, and is going through what all new games do in their first year, balance passes, bug fixes, nothing new to the online gamer.

    The sub is still the cheapest form of entertainment out there, and I get busy sometimes might be days for I can play, might be days before I can watch my cable tv to, but it is just one of those things. I don't care what ZOS might do, I am having fun in the present that's all I care about, I do not look at my game time like I invested anything, I sure all of us that have gamed for awhile have a closet full of old boxes or a download site with a library of games we thought we would like.:)

    Sounds like nothing could possibly satisfy you or your expectations with regards to ESO.

    That you even feel "trampled in the dirt" because you let the time on your subscription run out and they naturally didn't let your access extend is a strong indication that whatever problems exist, they aren't with the game or the company. I think Aldruin said it best 2 messages above.

    Since you ask: My advice is find something else to do.
    VR14 Templar, VR14 DK, VR8 DK, VR7 NB, VR1 Sorcerer;
    All 3 Alliances;
    2 Pre-order Imperial Accounts, yes that means 16 characters on NA alone

    I will add.. spell crafting feels closer.. because they have revamped some of the lower level open world dungeon spaces with spots that HAVE to be for the spell crafting things they described. Prov revamp may make update 6, according to ESO LIVE, last week, barring complications. They are making the modifications to the XP for vets to do Champ System.

    As far as I now no MMO with a subscription base offers that. It's part of the subscription format, if they offered a grace period, then somebody would take advantage, I have known several individuals who would.
