It's an Elder Scrolls experience I can finally have with people other than myself alone in my mother's basement with no girlfriend.

It's the community. Getting to share lore and gameplay I love with other people.

Your #2 nails a lot of it for me. And I think that's true of a lot of people. Zenimax needs to get a clue that the ES fans ARE their core audience and the only ones who are likely to stick around after the next shiny new title comes out. The long term success of this game will not be determined by the "leet" and "hardcore" players who are blowing through the content to get to cap and "beat" the game. Once they've done so, they'll be gone no matter how much Zeni scrambles to court them. So paying attnetion to, and implementing, as many things as possible that will emulate what players loved about the Elder Scrolls series is really where the future of this game lays.

I just hope Zenimax figures that out in time.

Exactly - i am here because I like what Bethesda has created over the many years of the Elder Scrolls and which ZOS has converted into an MMORPG - role player will stick around and finally even the IC and Cyrrodil might become enjoyable. And the endless whining about balance issues will end as well, because role player do not care much about balance. i can have fun as well with a character which sucks - and most likely mine will suck in one or the other way, because they are not planned out by the numbers but I develop them after my current mood and intention. This does not lead to a maxed out character, but I am pretty certain, that I can have more fun with it than with a maxed out one.

ESO has 90s written all over it, thats the main thing for me, this is like everybody imagined Fantasy back in the 90s, but things have changed so much and considering new wave of Fantasy is on top of us, I really think this is the last Mohican. I think ES's kind of Fantasy is always gonna live through TV, so thats why I think ES TV-series isnt bad idea at all (Game of the Thrones for example) or go figure Skyrim was insanely successful.

Well TBH I don't. My big problem with ESO is that the devs tried to make a MMORPG into a console game. There is limited quick slots (by other MMORPG standards) 13 max (2 switch able 6 slot and 1 consumable). Compared to say LOTRO with 72, or WoW with far more with add-ons.

Every MMORPG save ESO that I can think of has far more Quick slots. This severely limits the actions useable in a quick fashion (one click of a mouse or press of a key). If I wanted to go back to playing a Gauntlet style game (aka 1980's tech) I'd just go out and buy an old arcade game.

The problem I see is that the dev's wanted to go for the biggest market share they could (pc/xbox/PS4/Mac) and in doing so created a sub-par MMORPG. I love the Elder Scrolls world, but ESO is a poor excuse for a MMORPG. If not for the limited functionality of quick slots, It would be a decent contender in the MMORPG genre of games. But as is it's nothing more than any other attempt at an MMORPG for console, AKA a failure.

    Because I'm a masochist

I played all the Elder Scrolls games and love the world. For me, this game gives me an incredible sense of immersion. Love exploring every nook and cranny or finding a beautiful vista. I also love finding chests, urns, etc and all the treasures you can obtain. Most MMOs don't give me that sense of exploration wonder and I'm an explorer at heart. I also like the story and all the care that goes into the lore. Really a fantastic environment.

With that said, I have great hopes for the game. The first time I played though, something didn't click with me and I left after six months or so. My second play though, I'm enjoying myself much more. I do hope to see the introduction of fun side activities outside of combat---housing, mini games, improved fishing system, companions, music system, etc. Other game have done this really well. Look at WoW and the plethora of other fun side activites. Imagine if we had a music system like Lord of the Rings Online. Just a few ideas off the top of my head.

For now though, I'm enjoying the game very much.
