Patch Direct Download?

With my current download speed of 40kbps, its going to take me ages to download the patch.

Is there a direct download link for the current 1.5 patch which i can ask my friend to download and then copy it to my usb drive for me?

With direct download, the patch can be shared with all my friend instead of each of them re-downloading the same files and hogging up zos server bandwidth

    Hey there @awayuki,

There currently isn't a direct download link for the patch. The patch must be downloaded and applied through the launcher in order to apply correctly.

Can we request this feature for the future?

I know many people with slower internet connections - like all DSL customers everywhere - like to play and a friend with a faster connection could be a time saver.

Can they copy certain files or directories and then maybe repair or something?

    Hey there @revolution1,

Can you please include a screenshot of where you're stuck? We'll be happy to provide some troubleshooting from there!

@Elf_Boy We encourage the use of /feedback for just about anything and everything that you can think of to improve the game, the patching process included!

At the moment, we advise using the patcher to ensure the game updates correctly. If anything goes wrong with updating from a copy-paste, the solution would be a full reinstall, which would take much longer.

    it didn't last time....

Currently the launcher seems to be a big issue already, so I see a manual patching approach a far superior solution, plus you can release a patch for download, but give players a week to download it...the following week the servers can put said patch into effect. seems like a win win, then we also don't have all this waiting, downloading, fixing the launcher, re-downloading, repairing, and finally re-patching once more.....what a hassle this is...EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I really do not see the way the game patches very good in general...I mean huge patches every time....but I digress...I would love to see my previous implementation...implemented...with torrents alternatively.

No guarranties, but if you're willing to play with it a bit... I'd first backup the whole thing, then copied all *.dat and *.mnf files under depot and vo_en/vo_de/vo_fr, then run repair from launcher. Sometimes it starts preparing files for a full download, but then only downloads a few hundred MB, so don't panic when it says Creating download... 30GB remaining. Panic when it says Downloading... 30GB remaining ;)

well it has been brought to my attention that this particular patch 1.5.2-ish is in fact @12Gb and in two parts....the issues though can be eleviated with a separate download & manual patching solution...not to mention we are all paying money for this time that we are not able to actually appreciate the product that has been paid for....not trying to start a fire here, but I would like to know why we do not get the option to manually patch...either self extracting archive or executable.

I agree a manuel patch would be a good thing. When I get home from work I'll do the /feedback.

My guess is ZOS would need to purchase or take internal resources to create a patcher that works with a downloaded file rather then a bit stream. It would also take more bandwidth then the bit swarm method now used.

Nothing that cant be overcome still obsticals are obsticals.

I also agree that the current method of patching for those that have slower connections is a bit of a pain.

If you then combine a slow or capped download rate of between 0-600kb/s with an antiquated approach / method of applying large patches... it simply feels wrong and unnecessary.

I'm hoping that for future expansions, a more liberal approach is taken which allows for quicker updates.

    Have fun out there.

I agree. just like a game terrain is generally tiled subdivided planar meshes...updating based on specific locations would be smaller and easier to control with less downtime.
