Delays while receiving in-game mail (Guild Store and other)

    The worst zone offender for mail is Cyrodiil for me. I will never get mail in Cyrodiil without logging out of the game and back in.

    Reloadui - does nothing
    Log off game and back in - works 100% of the time

    Sure those steps work, but it is pretty inconvenient to do this just to get some items.

    Any number of these works to force an update between the servers and the client and as reported by others in the thread, those steps do work.

    But they shouldn't be necessary. :smiley:

    I have noticed that I am getting notifications that I have mail about 10-15 minutes before I can see the mail itself in the inbox.

    I haven't tried traveling yet to see if that forces the system to deliver the actual mail, and not just the notification, because so far I have been busy enough doing something in game that doesn't permit me to just run to a wayshrine and leave the area. By the time I am able to do that, the mail itself has arrived.

    To be honest, I won't be surprised to see a ZoS staff reply like "Darude-Sandstorm" from now on. With this sort of replies, it must be close.

    Yes, yes it is and its Still kind of ridiculous that something so basic in the game hasn't been fixed yet.

    Yeah the tips work, but this bug is old as time itself. It will be cool if it ever get fixed however. Also the "no crown when forming groups bug" will be also cool to fixed.

    Yep, I deliberately necro'd this in the full knowledge of how old this bug is...seriously needs to be looked into...

    Out of curiousity, @ZOS_AlvinM are you still around, and could you by chance provide an update on whether or not this is on the "To-Do" list of things to fix?

    I think they might have tried notifying the person responsible for fixing this via in-game mail, and it hasn't arrived yet.

    Not sure if you even play the game. Please spend more time playing it rather than just finishing the hours bound by your employment contract.

    1. /reloadui doesn't work on retrieving mails. I've done it every time the mails are delayed or won't load, none of those times have reloadui worked.

    2. Teleporting from Map is a gold sink, you are currently replying to traders who constantly buy stuff from guild stores or guild traders, it's definitely not an option here. As mentioned in thread, it usually takes more than one teleport to get the mail loading, meaning to say each time I want my mail to load, I have to run to the way shrine, teleport somewhere, and teleport back, and run to my original location = running simulator + 2 loading screens.

    3. You don't need to log out for 15 minutes, just log out to character selection screen and log back in, the mail will load then. (10s wait in Belkarth, 2 loading screens in other towns) Which is what we all do, and it's annoying, and it wastes time.

    It has been like this since PC beta, just because players got used to it doesn't mean it's no longer a problem. Fix it will you?

    Edit: Not sure which patch broke it, but I now have mails that won't load as well. It sits in the mailbox, and still shows other mail's content when clicked on.

    Mail delay has been in the game forever. Most of the time I relog to update the mail, but I assumed it was intended...

    Yep, I'm glad someone brought this thread back to life. It's something that ZOS needed to get fixed a long time ago, along with the "Waiting forever to get the guild bank inventory list to load" bug. They have been reported dozens of times in the forums, and who knows how many times with bug reports, but it's like they just don't care.

    At this point, considering this bug has been around since launch, it seems like something that is inherent with the way the mail system functions. In other words, not a bug they can simply fix, but a flaw that would require a more thorough rework of the programming involved. If that's true it would explain the delay in fixing it as the developers won't just admit that the whole thing is flawed, and it's not an issue really important enough to dedicate resources to at this point.

    You either obviously haven't tried any of these or are unlucky enough to have hit a completely different yet alarmingly similar bug, as it has been noted time and time again in multiple threads that these solutions do in fact work for a majority of people for the mail issue, especially the moving to another zone one, which has been confirmed as working by players multiple times in this thread alone.

    I agree that ZOS should be fixing these issues and not just giving us already known work rounds, but to blatantly say they don't work when it's been confirmed they do is just unfair.

    That's something that has been happening since release too. If it's what i'm thinking it is from your description it's not an actual mail, but a ghost mail, they get created by deleting a mail and logging off/switching a character before the server registers it's deleted, had it quite a few times and it takes a little while and maybe a few character switches for it to right itself.

    I have to second this. I've not once, ever, had a guild store purchase show up in Mail without logging out and back in, or traveling to a different zone first.

    I have received guild store purchases without relogging or zoning.

    It has happened for me 13 times.

    In the past year and a half.

    I no longer have any hope that it will be any different in the future.
