Naivefanboi✭✭✭✭just came back 3weeks ago got to vr14 have some decent gear. sadly my pts character is still vr1...xD was looking forward to trying this game mode or what ever it is.
this isnt just for fun right? this is a possible gameplay mode we could see in the future?
sounds like it would solve the dueling issue which 99% of players pve or pvp seem to want in the game lol.0 -

What this is, is a tournament put on by The Art of Warfare (TAW). Anyone can participate in it. If you were to log into the PTS and create a new character, at the top left corner of the screen you'll have the option to make it a different level. This way everyone will have a v14 for this tournament. Depending on the success of this tournament we could see more in the future and with bigger battles than just the current 1v1.1 -

I thought I would put a FAQ together to address most of the questions for this event:
Who or what is the TAW?
The Art Of Warfare is a multi game community, made up of 2,700 active players, playing upwards of 20 different games. Each game team or Division as we call it has it's own dedicated player base. So our ESO team are dedicated ESO players.
What is The Grand Melee?
The Grand Melee is the name we chose for our 1v1 PVP event. Essentially it is a dueling event following a "best 2 out of 3 falls" style format. We felt that even though not everyone is melee based, it was better than calling it "Two Dudes Scrapping, And Sometime A Chick".
Who can participate?
Anyone and everyone. It is open to North Americans, Oceanic, European, Martian, and Trans-Dimensional beings. You just need to have an active ESO account and the PTS server installed.
What is the connection with ZOS, is this a testing event for future additions?
We have no official connection with ZOS, we are a player ran organization that wishes to create fun events for the whole community. This is NOT a testing format, this is just a silly little event we put together. Nothing will come out of this except fun and prizes for you. It is NOT a pre-cursor to adding Dueling to the game, or small group PVP arenas. If you wish to see that sort of thing, my suggestion to you would be to create a very constructive and well thought out forum post indicating why you think it would be a good addition, and how you think it would be best implemented.
Where are these prizes coming from, are they ZOS funded?
The prizes are coming from The Art Of Warfare, they are purchased with the donations from our guild members. There are NO monetary donations from ZOS, if you want ZOS to give you things, I suggest watching their Twitch Stream every second Friday for giveaways, or get a job there and receive a pay cheque.
ESO Live is broadcast on Twitch every second Friday, the next one being Friday, November 7th, 2014 @ 4PM EDT.

I do not have a VR 14 character, won't I be at a disadvantage? How do I compete?
The beautiful thing about the Public Test Server is that it allows you to create a VR 14 character during character creation, this starts you out with hundreds of skill points, every skill levelled to maximum, including morphs, and crafting. It also gives you soul gems, 5 million gold, a few different sets of trial armor, and many more things.
You should be able to create any character you want at a VR 14 level and be competitive right out of the gate.
The process is as follows:
Install the PTS Server:
This is done by opening your launcher, clicking the little "cog" in the upper right corner to go into your options, then scrolling down and placing a check mark next to "Show Public Test Environment", here is an image to show you what to look for:
You then exit out of the Options section and back to your main launcher, you should now see The Elder Scrolls Online (PTS) listed on your server list on the left side of your launcher panel. If you do not have it installed it will be grey. All you have to do is click on the server name, and then click Install which will appear on the bottom right of the launcher, where the Play button usually is.
You would then log into the game and go to the character creation screen and click on the drop down menu to the upper left of the screen, this allows you to select a 1.5 Veteran City Of Ash character to create. From there you would create your character as usual.
Can I spectate?
