Can't get to character screen after every patch

Every time there is a patch, big or small, it doesn't matter, I am able to log in fine, but then it will not get to the character select screen. I leave it running for a while and it just stays on the splash screen with the ouroboros spinning in the bottom corner. I force close and try again. It used to take two times to get through, then three, then four. Now I'm up to having to do this 5 times to get through to the character select screen.
I have tried searching for anyone solutions listed for this and haven't been able to find anything.
Anyone have ANY clue what the heck is wrong??

Cathrin✭✭✭No, you're not. But afaik there is already a thread about this. I have that problem, too. But only need one restart, not five.0

✭I also have this, but generally only on the first log in, so much so I now do the initial log in and press Alt F4 straight away then try again.
I also get it randomly swaping to PTS!0
