Disappearing Chests

I enjoy the chest mechanics enough that I go out of my way to open them... I open them for myself, I have and will open them for others...

The most frustrating thing about chests is when I see them and as I approach they fade away... move back, there is the chest, move closer, gone again... I ran into 2 last night in Greenshade... I did put in a ticket, but wanted to share it with the community.

Hey there @Hamfast,

This usually occurs due to phasing, where the chest is visible on a layer from a distance, but you enter a different layer as you move closer. We're continuing to work on improvements for phasing, so please be sure to submit a /bug report (if that wasn't what you meant by a ticket). This will give our developers information on your location as well as the quests you've completed so we can continue to make improvements.

Howdy @ZOS_GaryA‌ and thanks for responding.

I was a developer and where I worked a bug report opened a ticket that was then assigned to the proper developers... in other words, yes, I submitted a bug...

As it seems this is a known issue, would it help if we (the players) reported it each time we find them?

Also, what would the best bug category to report it under?

Thanks for the clarification! Since we have /help, /feedback, and /bug tickets, we just wanted to be sure it got to the right place. Our /bug system works very similarly, so thank you very much for the report!

Excellent question on the category. In the bug report, we would recommend placing this as "Impairs Functionality" for the impact, use "Game System" for the category, and Interactables/Lockpicking for the Sub-Category.

With that in mind, we don't want to say that the category isn't important, but it's always better to report a bug and categorize it "incorrectly" than to not report it at all. As we read each submitted bug, we'll be happy to re-categorize it for you if need be.

Great bit of information @ZOS_GaryA, I often go through the categories within the /bug section wondering which one is the right one.

It's really helpful to know that if I pick the wrong category the report will still be read and end up in the right place!

Oh and I had a disappearing chest a couple of days ago in Greenshade VR3 area just outside Seaside Sanctuary, what I found interesting was I managed to pull and kill the two crocodiles that were right next to it but could not find a position where the chest would stay visible........ I did spend some time trying though!!

@freespirit‌ that was the same location I reported, or close to it, but I was in the standard version (not yet VR on that character)... as I remember it there are 2 chests along the shore of the water on the inland side of the Seaside Sanctuary if you follow it north from the bridge... both are phased I think...
