Where's the "Disagree - Dislike" button?!!

So far we have; Insightful, Agree, Awesome, LOL. As a means to express our opinion without replying.

Why would you the developers NOT add a opposition to "Agree"? Is LOL a water down response to not agreeing? A poll on that subject in these forums, when last I checked was about a 50/50 split on using LOL as the disagree/dislike option.

Now I can understand wanting the forums to remain a warm and fuzzy bundle of joyous love and comradery. But lets face it. The forums are a place for OPEN discussion, opinion, and EXPRESSION.

Adding another option to the bottom options category that allows for the complete circle of expression is not only in the spirit of true forum conversation and expression but IMO it may even cut down on a few slanderous reply posts.

I believe it would be good to have both Disagree & Dislike categories added to the bottom of each post/reply, but if trying to keep this forum with its brightest halo above its head then perhaps just the Disagree option would be good enough.

Let me know if you gals/guys agree or not!?

..oops wait you cant disagree unless you post your disagreement!

Interesting. I did not know that about beta..I was in beta and on forums, hmm ya certainly they could flip it around so that you can get a badge called "Thick Hide" after so many disagrees.

That's the thing ...other than a few bad apples (always the vast minority) there is nothing wrong with disagreement.

Ohwell, how about Disapprove lol! Having LOL in there is sad.

I don't know. I can definitely see your point, but people go overboard/unnecessary with the opposing reactions. I could see trolls having a field day. :joy:

They tried twice for the disagree/dislike button during the beta. There was also a like button that was removed because it was redundant. I'm surprised the lol button has lasted this long. After they got rid of disagree, they had to remove off-topic because it was being abused as a dislike.

bah! they should just remove the whole bottom button section period then. ...

.. and Armitas not everyone wants to write a post . In fact most dont want to have to write something to have an opinion heard. How do I know?

I sell items I make online for a living and I get a ton of views and out of all those views maybe 1-9% in likes. The views tell me the item is attracting an interest. The likes tell me less because if something is viewed 14k times I would take that as a indication it is liked. rather than just the amount of likes I have... my point is ... How many people reading these posts would actually bother to take the time to reply with their disapproval? ,...the vast minority.

And as for trolls well in you communicate on the internet you better expect trolls. If you are bothered by trolls then dont communicate AS MUCH on over the internet.

As someone else pointed out above (they seem to have been ignored), the rationale behind this isn't simply that the button was heavily trolled during beta.

If you disagree with someone, make your case. If you can't, or if you don't care enough to, then your opinion doesn't matter in the context of a discussion forum. Agreeing with someone doesn't require some kind of argument. Disagreeing with someone does.

It's not Facebook, it's forums, there should be a discussion of some description taking place. If you agree and click agree, it means you align with what the poster said, no need for reposting, but if you disagree enough to stop and take notice, respond with why you disagree. Likey! and Dislikey! is not exactly helpfull. Not to the poster, not to Zen, not to the discussion, not to cows.

no its not so black and white. If you agree then why do you agree? You agree word for word about what the poster said? Doubt it. No excuses to say you can click agree and have no need to post but if you disagree you are "obligated" to write a small essay on why you disagree.

Just no! Clicking disagree is easier and less time consuming ..and would have more forum contributions then constantly writing why you disagree.

Currently we have a "head in the sand approach" with the LOL (which btw I do not use as a disagree) as a PC disagree.

Time to put on the big boy pants and pony up a proper "opposite" response to the Agree button! ...or just take the agree button out.

Now you're just being deliberately contradictory.

If you agree with the fundamental points of someone's post, then there's no value in posting "+1" or "^^". An agree button lets people express that they share the poster's ideas. If they feel there are points that need clarifying, they can post them.

You cannot disagree with someone on a discussion forum and not provide an explanation. Well, let me rephrase: you can, but your opinion then becomes inconsequential. The point of this forum is to discuss/debate ideas. If you disagree with someone, then explain why. If you can't/won't, then you don't deserve a special button to reward your laziness.

I think OP has a point. A disagree button would make this forum a nicer place. And it would accomplish that by not having so many personal insults or other derogatory posts, as user could just press a button as opposed to writing what they think witch often turns into flaming war.
I agree with @Armitas‌ that seeing what someone disagrees with you about, is much more helpful, but in reality this often turns into an ugly two way ego fight.

But the proven reality of the disagree button is that it turns in to one-way trolling.

For example, there's a certain poster on these forums who just votes "LOL" on all my posts, because they've decided two things:
    1) That I care.
    2) That it negatively impacts me.

If this were a disagree button, I would actually be more inclined to care, because it would negatively impact my forum rating. As it stands, it simply makes people think that I'm really funny, and it allows that person to let off steam that apparently builds up from seeing posts they don't like.

Personal insults or derogatory posts appear regardless of whether there's a disagree button in place. But the moderators can easily deal with that. They can't deal with people trolling a button.

I understand. I just didn't realize that forum standings are so important. I, personally, couldn't care less about them, so I don't see how one buttons trolling is more negative than other.
Many people don't know "Lol" button is used for disagreeing. So they express their disagreement by writing. If there was a clear and logical button for this, maybe less of them would.
