It was an insane system. Almost a permadeath system.

    It was beautiful.

I remember people threatening to sue on the boards, real life death threats, etc.

Which is why I really don't take most of the whining about whining around here that seriously. Most of the negative comments here are mostly stemming from bad patches.

How I miss Tov! Trakanon - Move from the fire you ***![/quote]

<Edit> These two lines above are a quote from a previous post, obviously I didn't paste the quote correctly.

The Sleeper is still the single greatest boss in an MMORPG ever. I tell people how he used to go marauding across multiple zones killing everything in his path. So awesome!

I was on Xev server, played a Barbarian Rogue (although I used a mask illusion).

    Fixed the text for you.

    Awesome! An ex EQ player!

Sleeper tomb was awesome! Cool theme! Hard as HELL!
I loved the fact that each member needed a key from a long quest too be able to ENTER the raid zone. It sure was the most unique and cool high level dungeon zone!

All EQ raids was open, global. Just like normal easy dungeons are in ESO.
Instanced dungeons came first to EQ a few years in with "underground" raids and Plane of time.

The guild leaders had a network which we coordinated who's turn it was for raids. Some raids had 3 days cooldown, some 5 some 7. Some random.

The sleepers tomb was open to all who got the keys.
I loved that....no pugs could go there! Hehe
    >:)

Did you know that you only should kill 3 of the 4 dragon that is guarding the Sleeper? Sleeper wakes make up and if one of the hardest encounter in EQs history.
No one in the world know anything about the sleeper. But people managed anyway.

When the sleeper is awaken. The raid zone CLOSE on that server....forever!
Once Sleeper fly away and leave behind an empty zone...forever!

It was intended that way to give the hardcore elite raids a zone where only they can proudly wear stuff. I still us my robe on my Main Char in EQ: Cogo Hatemachine

Oh man, I got so hated for that. Haha!

Here is my guild in EQ. Started it 2002!! jez! I am Cogo unless you figured that out? :-p

This news update. Read through it and see if you find anything we can learn from eq?

Note: EQ progression took month. Then to fight others for the right of target each week. The community was awesome!
