Future loyalty reward timing

So I'm one of those who took my free month and then shelved my sub for a couple months. Aside from waiting for ZOS to clear out the bugs, I was short of cash and my PC was cack. As a result, I'm obviously gonna be a couple months late getting my sparkly floating ice thingy.

Let me be absolutely clear - I do not expect any leniency here. That would be arrogant, and I would expect the forum, in it's entirety, to deservedly lynch me for even asking for a reward at the same time as others who have been subbed for twice as long as me. What I am looking at is long-term. 1 year, 2 years etc. I am wondering if a range will be used. For example, anyone who will be hitting their year-mark in the next 3 months will get their reward at the same time.

It wouldn't be a game-breaker for me if the milestones were strictly adhered to, but the OCD in me is sort of dreading it if in 3 years' time I'm still having to wait around for a couple of months while everyone else gets to play with the new toy.

I'm sure there are others who will, at some point, lose a month or two. What think ye, good idea or a prime example of the entitlement that so afflicts this generation?

Sorry, can you phrase what you're trying to say simpler? I'm lost/confused. Do you want later royalty rewards (like one that we might receive for playing for a year) to be received by those who have played, say 8 months? Something like that?

Yeah, sorry, I was kinda waffly.
Essentially, yes. When ESO hits the year mark and, I assume, releases a new loyalty toy, I would like to see people who are still up to 3 months off said mark because of lapsed subs get it at release too.

Maybe two months for the first one? Heh, after all, if past experience is any indication, they'll probably be a month late with getting it out anyway! lol

No. You will not get a year reward after only being subbed 8 months. But it's supposed to do a check so that when you hit the required time you will get the reward.

I've been subbed without a lapse for over 4 months and still haven't received mine. I let them know in the Customer Service section. I'm not a fan of vanity pets, but I do want to make sure the issue is resolved so that I receive future loyalty rewards.

I'm sure it sucks but if you didn't pay then you haven't built up the time to reap the rewards.

For the record, that's far more excessive than my example. I would expect it to only be a month or two for the first one.

    (If I'm understanding you right)
But you have to have subbed for a set amount of time. I don't know how often they are sending them out but it should be based off how much sub you hit even if they are late with getting it out. But once they learn how to get these things going then it should check to see when you hit the requirement. Lapsed sub does not count. That's why it is a loyalty reward.

Yes, I'm aware that strictly, that's how it would work. Thanks for the explanation. I'm saying that it might be an idea to not be quite that mercenary with the requirements in future, especially as time goes on and the couple of months shortfall becomes far less material.

Why would people who have only been subbed for 2 years and 9 months be given the reward for being subbed 3 years ?
If people want to receive the rewards for 1, 2 or even 3 years loyalty then they should sub for that amount of time !

Let me get this straight: you choose to indiscriminately call all those who expect nothing but getting their due rewards after due time 'entitled'? Way to pre-emptively diss those who will naturally disagree with your proposition.

You want to get your reward at the earliest possible time, i.e. when it's first released, like a lot of other people? Then stay subbed the whole time like this lot of other people. It's that simple.

Temporary quitters getting the same reward at or very nearly at the same time as the constant subscribers would devalue the reward as a reward for staying subbed. It's the whole point of its existence in the first place.

But it's always just the others who are acting entitled, right?

Easy tiger. The entitlement line was a joke, and was at my own expense. You've been fairly good people on the forums, and I certainly don't want to push your buttons if I can help it.

Again, I get that we don't want to be handing out stuff undeservedly. That's why I made it very clear that I would never expect a scrap of allowance before the year mark. That would be totally unfair.

Come on, would you really cry foul at a guy who's been subbed for 2 years 10 months getting his reward at the same time as a guy who subbed for three years? Is it really material enough of a difference to get upset over? Life happens man.

For their 5th LOTRO anniversary 2 years ago, Turbine decided to reward their customers with a silver star below their character portrait for each full year of account age. Giving a very generous leeway (the game was released in May 2007), their counting started with September 2007, so everyone who had been subscribed at that time started with a nice full set of five stars when the feature went live. Since I first started playing LOTRO in October 2007, I had only 4 stars to call my own, and a year-long wait to look forward to in order to finally get my fifth (when everyone else and their uncle would have already earned their sixth).

I the beginning, I felt annoyed. Because everyone gets to see your character's portrait and its attached stars in a group, I suddenly felt like the odd man out among kinship members and friends every time we grouped. Suddenly everyone seemed to proudly prance around showing off their 5 stars, while I was merely a few weeks too late to a new party no-one would have even dreamed about having one day five years ago.

I wasn't the only one, though. Forums being what they are, there soon were voices that pleaded, or outright demanded, that the already very generous leeway should be moved or grown in such a way that they would now fall into the five-star category, too. Luckily, Turbine remained adamant, arguing that they fully well knew they had to draw the line somewhere, that they chose to draw it exactly there, and that on any movement of that line the demands to move it again even further would never ever cease coming.

So yes, life happens. All the time. But sometimes it happens in such ways that the only thing that's left (and right) to do is to suck it up, and move on with it. I wasn't annoyed long. The novelty of the feature wore off rather quickly, soon there were other concerns to be had about the game, and now my days of LOTRO are long past. Today I couldn't care less about some stars on some portrait, and who gets how many at which times. Life is funny in this regard.

Lol, you're talking as though this is a deal-breaker for me. I figured I'd made it quite clear that I'll live if this doesn't happen.
The best part? Your cited example provided a four month lee-way, yet you're arguing against my proposed three month one? You get that you're supposed to be giving examples that support your side, right? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I absolutely could not agree more. Draw the line, and don't cave to the whiners, as they'll never be happy. Again though, I'm confused why you say this, as I never suggested anything remotely to the contrary.

loyalty reward is for them who been online and support from the start and why should a person get a loyalty reward that have not been active???

That is really stupid in my book why should people get reward for the stop pay for the sub for the think game was crap and come back later think the should get same reward and one that been online everyday, serious that mess up who idea with a loyalty reward/program.

Okay, I'm getting nothing but barely coherent ...dagnammit, I'm gonna say it...fanboy rage (Urgh, I feel dirty all over) here at the mere suggestion of leniency, as though it were some appalling injustice.

I've said my piece, and hopefully it's been noticed by the right people (though I refuse to be one of those people who tags a dev so that they see their "awesome must read idea"). Either way, job done.

Well, I wouldn't mind additional anniversary rewards ZOS hands out to everyone, like fireworks or something. But loyalty rewards should be strictly tied to days paid.
