Is 0-49-0 points distribution still valid?

Soon after launch it was "established" that the best way of distributing skill points was to put every single one of them into health and use gear and/or passives to accumulate magicka or stamina.
Is this formula still valid? I recently renewed my sub and was wondering it there have been any changes on this topic?

Y, even if you cap your armor stats and wear 5+ impenetrable gear, you will get heavy inc dmg (too much crit, too high dmg multipliers, too much armor-/spell-penetration) + heal debuffs. The only way to stay alive some more seconds (if you do not have healers constantly purging + healing) is by having 3k+ HP.

Second, you'll see more and more players going for bow- and gank-builds (mostly burst centered builds). Now, a major change to the ways how to reggen stamina heavily favors anyone using melee weapons and a bow giving them stamina reggen for free.

Yep. Apparently the soft caps have been raised significantly, so there's far less need to spread stats out unless you want to...

...but yeah, as above there's some wicked burstage going around. Also it's not just stam weapons. All weapons return their appropriate resource after a heavy attack, as detailed here.

For me (Sorc) at first I went 49-0-0 and after dying from single hits from almost everything I changed it to 25-24-0

How you distribute these points don't matter much since glyphs scale the same anyways.
Your stats with points+glyphs+buffs is what matters.

What you should be asking is "How much health/magicka/stamina do you run?"

    Personally...

My Bosmer NB with 2H and DW has this Attributes distribution: M15 H17 S17. Final points in each (mind you not super gear or glyphs, and no Alliance help) M1514, H2133, S1437. Kinda squishy character, but nimble. Stamina regen is 99, which is plenty for me, and Magicka regen is 84, which is plenty given I use Magicka-based abilities about 25-30% of the time I'm in battle. I do have a potion bumping jewelry, really gives me good potion return. Major weakness: health, of course.

Going 49 in health gives you flexibility. You can just switch out your gear and mundus to go a different route. Light armor with magicka enchants and spell damage/critic set bonuses. Take that off and put in medium armor with stamina enchants and sneak set bonuses and you have a completely different play style. Or, have DPS gear and tank gear. Switch it out in the middle of a dungeon if you need to change roles. Just about every play style needs at least 2000-ish base health. Let your attribute points get that out of the way and you can change play style frequently without the hassle and gold of an attribute reset.

Just try to have around 2500 health including buff-food if you're a dps. As a tank you need more ofc.

Until they make jewel stats and food stats ratios 1/1.5./1 instead of 1/1/1 the 0/49/0 distribution will still remain slightly better. That is of course under the pretty valid assumption that one should never minimize health in ESO. There isn't to much incentive to go glass canon.

It's more bang for your buck. 1 point in health is worth 15. 1 point in magic or stam it's worth 10.

My NB has about 3150 hp with food buff using 15-19-15 stats. But i have no need to hold focused damage. If I'm attacked by group I try to evade. 3150 HP is almoust allways enought to evade with roll-roll-dark cloak- dark cloack - dark cloak - stealth.

The confusing thing is...when you read the tool tip when hovering over magicka or stamina as potential increases with attribute points, it reads like you will do more damage with those attacks with each point spent.

Which quite honestly, I still don't know the answer to what the truth is.

anyway, I go 0-49-0 just because you get 15 pts of health per point...and my build allows for max spell power, max magicka, and max health now (with near max stamina when our alliance has emperor and I can switch out gear. )

Anyway, as stated, what you do here is nearly irrelevant as you can just enchant your equipment to make up for where you didn't spend points.

The more magica or stamina you have the more damage you do with spells and weapon attacks respectively. It is very easy to test. Hover over a weapon or magic skill and note the damage it does, then remove an enchanted jewelry with a magica or stam buff or eat some food and then recheck. But like I said before above is more bang for your buck to put them all in health.
