Maintenance for the week of December 22:

Should ZOS be associated with Reddit given the latter's apparent disreputable behaviour?

As evidenced here: http://www.wired.com/2014/09/celeb-pics-reddit-gold/

They hugely profited from illegal activity on their site then try to cover themselves in glory by a belated and self-serving show of editorial control?

And these are the people ZOS get into bed with to do their AMAs!

Really?

@fromtesonlineb16_ESO Taking that line of thinking, should ESO be associated with the internet at all? People are stalked online daily, a 5 year old can find free access to adult sites, etc...

Tbh, I'd be more concerned with people asking the questions they don't want to answer and the bad publicity resulting from not answering and/or crappy answers. But that's just me :D

That recent picture leak is probably one of the tamest things that can be attributed to reddit, so to single it out on this one instance is kind of amusing.

That's ridiculous. The OP is saying that when the body controlling a venue is potentially actively involved in illicit activities that it shouldn't be supported. You are saying he claimed the equivalent of "roads have cars and people die from accidents, so we should ban roads" when nothing of the sort was said by him.

Should they really have a Facebook page, since Facebook is so often used for awful and offensive groups, bullying, sometimes with fatal and tragic results, and, in the case of many of my relatives, unfortunately, massive widespread deluge of fear-mongering rumors and misinformation sharing? Not to mention the privacy violations and concerns that linger where that company is concerned.

Should they really have a Twitter account, when twitter is so often used, without consequences, to tweet and share extremely offensive, sexist, and or racist things?

Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the people that believes the leaks should be prosecuted as a crime. But the internet is the internet, and Reddit is just another site used to get information out, for bad or good. If a company avoided any site which had questionable things happen, they'd quickly find themselves limited to a very small and obscure part of the internet.

That being said, AMA's are very much a risky and double edged sword. With the internet, it can and very often does devolve into as much bad publicity as good. I am interested in seeing if, what and how they'll answer some inevitable questions.

But he did say that ZOS should stop driving their car on the road, because accidents happen... which can be viewed as being equally ridiculous.

On a sort of related note. Bill Nye has had two rather successful sessions on reddit. Oh the horrors of science! Maybe they should reconsider this association. ....

Considering the people on ESO's Reddit have a better attitude than here I say they should just dump the forums all together.

Ever feel like the people here have bad attitudes "because" were ignored in favour of a 3rd party dodgy site?

As others have said, I will not use Reddit EVER!!! because I don't agree with it's questionable ethics. Game's companies should not be endorsing this type of site...heck if this game was owned by EA any dev caught posting of a site like that would have been sacked.

To be fair to the OP, I've always considered Reddit a fairly sketchy site with a poor reputation. Maybe not quite as bad as 4chan, but in a similar ballpark.

The fact that they don't use their own website/forums I find fairly mindboggling.

I'm not saying reddit should be shut down. All I'm saying is that it's creepy and I won't use it. Which I thought ZoS should know.
