I noticed on Thornblade a couple of nights ago an EP group was exploiting the zerg ball lag in a ingenious way that was rather infuriating to me even if I could appreciate the evil intelligence behind it.

There was a nonstop battle outside of Alessia I believe where EP owned the keep, and AD owned the mine I think. After an hour of AD killing nonstop assaults by DC and EP with hundreds of dead an organized 30 man EP zergball would just run straight to the flag while spamming every AoE ability they possessed. The area lagged so bad I couldn't even put down siege yet alone cast a spell reliably. I stood on the flag in the middle of them and didn't even take damage. The EP zergball didn't care about killing people....they just wanted to harvest the tick that we had earned. Once the resource flipped they all ran back out and let us take it again only to have them do it again an hour later.

It is quite easy for one person to keep a resource defense tick from happening for an extended period of time, yet an attack tick is instantly rewarded and even though the game lags equally for everyone in the area of a massive zergball....resource flipping doesn't lag. Quite ingenious exploitation of server limitations and game mechanics....those ticks had to be 30k a piece.

This is why I stay out of zerg fights where possible. Individual skill beyond knowing ones duties are rarely give a chance to be displayed...all for the almighty AP tick.

There are some pretty terrible players I've fought that are higher rank than me and some players that are much lower ranked who are as good or better. Just like the former emperor title, people with high rank these days often means they're part of a daily AP grinding group, and when you catch them outside of their group it is surprising how few class mechanics they've ever had the chance to hone.

There are quite a few terrors out there though with a high rank who are just as good in small group combat as they are zerg combat, those are the guys with true skill.

actually when spell crafting comes in I'm looking to craft an ultimate that does something like spread disease to decrease healing to targets within a 5 meter radius that can be spread for 30 seconds and cannot be purged.

When you get skill lagged to death because you have 20 people purposefully lagging the whole area by firing everything they have in AOEs to create skill lag and then you have people telling you to get out of CC I laugh then I go cut myself.

Smurfs have been caught apparently several time lagging the server to hell to crash it. Bananas do the exact same thing in different areas. First you have the massive group appearing out of nowhere when you have magelight out, then you have invisible batswarm exploits, then it is skill lag of hell while you are face down being knocked down over and over by the swarm while you get burned and finally die. THEN you hear 10 to 15 error sounds in a row of the server catching up trying to fire your skills but hey you are dead so [snip].

Then there is skill lag that for some reason makes you move forward when you are on a tower and absolutely do not want to jump down but hey the game thinks that pressing skill1 means you want to walk in a certain direction...then you panic because you are moving in a different direction than what you want to do so you try to back up but the server is still using your bow as you were on the tower but that was 15 seconds away and you are being targetted. You get CCed and try to get out of it and get the CMD message on the screen then you laugh because you know that the msg is in real time but the server is 15 seconds behind. You press CMD to no avail...two three four, twenty times but nothing happens and you are dead. Then while the recap gets on your screen you hear 5 error sounds and the messages that you can not do that while dead.

Requires skills as I said before...

they actually think the higher PvP rank they are, the better they think they are. Hilarious.

probably because 95% of the time that statement is true, unless the people are on an alt. it just comes down to knowledge of the game, if someone is a higher rank than you theyve most likely played more than you, and thus are better than you. im not sure why people think this is some crazy concept that cant be grasped

So wrong. Many of the pvp skills from other games (mainly situational awareness and positioning) translate directly to ESO pvp. There are also factors like hand-eye coordination and just plain aptitude that are not learned.

Time-played = practice. Some people need less practice than others to reach the same level of competitiveness.

No no no. If you want people to SPREAD OUT, you create a weapon that gives them incentives to get away from their team mates.

Something like, upon successful cast, the affected player will explode, letting out 5kdmg within 1m, 1k dmg within 3m, 800 dmg within 5m, 500 dmg within 10m.

And if they're affected, they'll have a new status that if they catch the splash damage of that same skill again within 10 seconds, the damage will be quadrupled.
Hey, I don't know if you are being serious, but like that. There's a dungeon boss at FG who does something just like that, right? I don't know if something similar is available for players, but it could be a kick-ass siege weapon or ultimate.

Focus one guy and he goes KABOOM with splash damage, sending people away from him/her, plus stun and snare according to radius from the blast...

Other players then come in for the kill, as soon as the zergball rearranges itself, back off. Rinse and repeat untill its done.

Could add a more subtle variety, with disease or curse, decreasing over time health or some magicka from those near the "infected" player. Pay no attention and you'll soon be dead. Each variety could affect more this or that class ex.: vampires die faster, healers have their magicka pools quickly drained.

If its possible to make the radius just enough for discouraging the dense balls but allowing open player formations, it could change some of the tactics...

IMHO, its not a bad idea at all.
