Dark stalker + night silence nerf

do you think the incomming nerf is fair?
I don't think it's really question of fair. I think it's just unnecessary. There are so many other complaints circulating about unbalanced PvP and they are going to focus on something that is trivial and gives no real advantage?

Then one could easily say why do you care if they nerf it if you didnt see any advantage to having it.

The way I see it, the Night's Silence set is made for players who aren't vamps, but want competitive sneak speeds. Also, sneaking as fast as a horse can run should not be possible.

Couldn't this same argument be made for DKs and NBs who stack gear to get their magicka regen, spell power, and total magicka max'd...should "not be possible" because you're trying to be a sorc?

I stack +13 spell power rings, stygian, Tongs, etc to max my spell power. Should that be nerfed?

Anyway, I think sneak speed is too fast. IMO these things should stack, just have a cap. So Night's Silence alone +60%, Dark Stalker alone +60%, both together +80% or something to the effect.

I just want to put this out there in hopes that someone decides to read it.

There are 4 ways in game to raise the speed you move in stealth and these are done in 2 different forms.

CW at rank 4 gives a flat 25% buff to sneaking speed. This is intended to add to your sneak speed allowing you to get in melee range to open with the skill.

The other method of raising sneak speed rather than flat speed buffs is to cancel the sneak speed penalty. Dark Stalker and Shadow Dancer already do this and leave the player moving at 100% normal speed when sneaking. They counter the penalty but without adding to the players movement speed.

Nights Silence adds 60% movement speed to the 60% sneak speed in attempts to counter the 40% reduction by sneaking. The Intent of the Nights Silence set is to counter the sneak speed penalty.

Odds are the change they have planned is to change the 5 trait bonus of Nights Silence to add the same passive as Shadow Dancer and Dark Stalker, making the sets no longer stack and hopefully giving the Nights Silence the full 100% sneak movement speed it was intended to have.

*Also, I remember seeing somewhere on the forums someone posted the UPS speeds of both some horses and of different sneak speeds and would be interested if anyone had a link to those numbers on hand.

If this what was intended... Then why didn't they initially make the set do the same thing as their already programmed passive bonuses of dark stalker? They could have simply copy pasted code, but instead they wrote new code

Concealed Weapon adds 25% of the 60% Sneak value, it functions the same as Night's Silence in that regard.
Concealed Weapon is unique in that the bonus also activates via Shadow Cloak while the player is running rather than Sneaking.

I feel like if the intent of Night's Silence set was to counter the Sneak speed penalty, then they would have programmed it to do so.
The tooltip says that it increases speed while Sneaking by 60%.
The calculation runs based off of Sneak speed, in order to increase it.

If they wanted it to perform otherwise, it would have read "reduces Sneak speed penalty by 60%" and had it run its calculation at 60% of the 40% reduction instead.
This would result in a lower speed bonus for non-vampire players.

This is what I am hoping happens; such a change would actually buff the set effect slightly by making it match the Dark Stalker effect.

What I am fearing will happen is implementation will take the form mentioned above, and my non-vampire Nightblade that wears this set will be penalized with a Sneak speed even lower than it is currently on Live (which is not as fast as Dark Stalker at present).

As a night blade i am glad they are taking this away. The problem is they are taking it away for all of the wrong reasons and none of the right ones.

Im glad its going away because i dont have to be a vampire where the only useful ability it has is sneak speed which i can achieve with just concealed blade and nights silence. I no longer have to be a scampire to keep up with my pvp guild/friends.

I wont list the plethora of errors on the part of ZOS by doing this since there are perfectly good responses by everyone else, and id just be repeating what everyone else has already said.

TL;DR ZoS done fuct up again

    Has-No-Heart - Templar Enchanter (v4) FUBAR
Ambadassador - Dragon knight (v1) Naked with no future (returned from the naked realm to tank PvE)
Sakis Tolis - Sorceror (v10 in progress) Living Legend!

Xuhl'Xotuun - Warden Current Main as im starting the game over essentially with this character aside from crafting.

the only thing thats changing is that they no longer stack. end of story. they arent rewriting anything the last i checked. ZoS is just on a boat with their flippy floppy

I am a NB ... this is not a NB nerf. It is a Vampire nerf. I consider Vamps their own, cheesily overpowered class.

If Vamps were balanced, there wouldn't be so many Emperor Vamps.

I actually agree with you to a certain extent. I don't particularly like being a vampire but I feel obliged to be because of the huge benefit it gives me as a Nightblade.

I actually believe that increased sneak speed should be exclusive to Nightblades. 25% from Concealed weapon is pathetic. Dark stalker should be a Nightblade passive in the Shadow tree or something along the lines of "Active if dark cloak / shadowy disguise is slotted" A replacement for Vampires could be +XXX% sprint speed or something like that to compensate. (which would actually make a whole lot more sense.)

It's what I used when I ran all my tests to examine the speed buffs and how they function.
Great tool for what it needed to do.

This is the most unhappy I have been with ESO since the next to last beta. At that time I didn't think I would like or play ESO.

At this time, this nerf makes me feel sorta the same I felt in Beta. Unsure if I would like or play ESO after nerfgate. It was so much fun, it was not imo lorebreaking as any vampire in any fiction I am aware of move at super human speed.

This set and the passives working in unison with my vampire abilities actually made me feel like a vampire, I felt immersed in my character, I had a tremendous amount of fun playing what most consider the weakest link in our class system. I played so much closer to how I played in skyrim...I loved it.

Now gone, and I am sad about this decision. It was not a better choice to just trash something that so many asked during lead-up to 1.3 if it was meant to look so good. We, the vampire nb's all saw the potential of the set and our class/vamp passives working together. We all wondered, and we were all told it was fine, go ahead craft your gear, get used to a great time playing your NB Stealther....but we are gonna nerf bat you suckers hard in 3 weeks.

    TLDR:the nerf saddens me.

Since Bram Stoker said, The dead ride fast, it seems every vampire book and movie has been trying too hard to live up to the very last letter of those words. Watch The Saga of Darren Shan and get a taste of what I'm getting at. But then, any vampire flick features fast bloodsuckers. Why not, no rational human is gonna wait around for one slow vermin to have a go at them. The adrenaline in a vamp's blood is always rushing to overflowing like a shot of morphine straight to the head....

Just a quickly grabbed quote off the internet, common vampire traits in fiction. I noticed a ton of material to support my claim that vampires are freaky fast!
