Thank you, I know the work around. It's a matter of time management in my case. I have limited time to play and I'd rather spend time fishing with my main character than grinding with a throw away. Usually I smack enough level one creatures traveling in between fishing spots and doing quests to have all the bait I need.

So the removal of the crafting quests means they won't be in update 4 at all? That was actually the only part of update 4 I was even slightly looking forward to. So there is really not much new on the immediate horizon for me at all. Really need an update largely devoted to crafting - provisioning revamp, crafting quests, cooking fish, jewellery crafting even. Not much new for us crafters and traders sadly :(

Not much new, no, but considering it already provides some of the best gear in the game by far and is freely tradeable + easy to max everything, I don't think it's in any way hurting or needing. 9th trait is in update 1.4 too. I do like the idea of cooking fish for example tho a lot.

Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

I think you may mean the 7day and the 'Vet' campaigns. It is an outright lie to say the Non-Vet campaign is like this. It's the most balanced campaign of all of them, was able to correct a one color conquer of the map on it's own. There have been less than a handfull of emperors by my last count, I think each alliance has had one.

    Notes de version PTS 1.4.1

    Combat & Gameplay
    General
    • Reduced the Veteran point cost for Veteran Ranks 13 and 14 so it takes less time to progress through those ranks.
    @ZOS_GinaBruno

First, great work on 1.4, and making sure it works as much as possible!
Reduced the time to get Vet 13 and 14 rank
Note: Rank is not a level.

I want an explanation for WHY this can possibly be needed. A VERY good one! Because the exp is too high already if you do certain things.

Like it or not, one of the prime reasons for ESOs success IS that the regular player do not get max level/ranks, as fast as every other MMO.

Consider the negative feedback from Vet 12 players, who have "nothing to do", who missed most of the 1-50 and Vet 1-10 content. Consider and look at your data about the numbers of players levels and ranks. Players are already complaining that they out level content. (Vet as well as 1-50).

Look at several posts about complaints to "have to go back to lower level areas, to do certain things. 100% of these complains comes from players who gets from level 1 to vet 12 in less then 4 weeks. Even faster for some.

Every single complaint that "you have to go back for". I got them before I was vet level.
I invite Zenimax to check my character.

The majority of players. Most of the game in fact, do not read forums. They are busy playing ESO.
    • I have to choose to leave Cyrodiil several times, because the exp is to high in big battles in large groups, and my vet rank gets higher then the Vet content I am exploring. Large fight, in groups of 40, where 200-400 players are killed in just 2 hours, almost gives you a whole vet rank.
    • I am forced to not play in Graglorn, with a group, because of the high exp that as well will give me ranks faster then I can experience the Vet content for my Vet rank.
    • With the increased Vet exp in 1.4, by getting normal exp, explore, chests etc, and other increases in exp. What is the logic behind giving almost instant Vet 13 and 14 rank? Should it not at least take a week to get 12-14?

I am concern that I will be vet14, before I experienced most of the new released content.
    1. Is ESO going the way as WoW, where it takes a week to get max "level"?
    2. Is Zenimax changing the feature of exploring and experience ESO in your way, to get fast highest level/rank?
Do NOT make the same mistake as so many MMOs who failed the past 5-7 years, by making the game too easy.

Awwh I was excited for the crafting quests :/ They'd have been a good solo thing in this group-focused patch.

I share the sentiment. Unfortunately, there were far too many problems with these quests. Given ZOS' glacial pace when it comes to fixing even the simplest of things, it is no wonder these quests were removed. I don't expect to see them restored until 1.5 and maybe not until 1.6.

Thankfully us solo/duo players can rely on all of the other post VR10 content in the game that was created for us. Oh wait, there isn't any.

Ya I could see how in an MMO your 16 Solo PVE regions to 1 Group PVE region is totally unfair to you.

There are solo regions for a VR 12 player? I missed them.

Please point them out so us solo players will know where to quest so we can earn the two new levels.

You did not miss them. You either have not found, tried them, have expectations to solo 4 mobs at the same time, or read the description of the high level areas.

This is not towards you, but ESO deliver a feature called "personal skill", which means some players can do things others can't, because of how good of a player they are. ESO offers as well to learn and increase your own skill.

The answer is that there is no real solo content for VR 12 players. To get the next two levels, the only viable option is to group.

I have never played a MMORPG where they added levels without giving people a way to solo the xp to get there (other than FFXI, and most western players were turned off by the forced grouping there).

if it hasn't been said , earning XP is to east for sure . My character level 1 - 50 was always over leveled for the content which sucked because it meant less chance of cool loot ,but I want to experience all the content too. I'm vet 1 now and its fun , might be the same thing though because going to cyrodill or random dungeon levels me to quick so I'm pretty much sticking with doing the quests so I'm not to OP'd when I get them

    • ESO is ESO, no other MMO. Read what ESO offers.
    • There will be Quest lines in the new zone. There is a new Solo only Zone coming.
    • ESO offers features for several types of players. They do not offer that your type can do everything, and get everything at the same time.
    • Cyrodiil is one way everyone can get exp solo. Read what ESO is.
    • Vet ranks is not a level. If it was a level, then a V10 player with a V5 weapon, would do more damage against a V5 player with the same V5 weapon.
    • Because of the level calculation. All vets are Level 50. They get more stats each Vet rank, but they do not get the level advantage like a Level 45 would against a level 42.
    • All Vet ranks are level 50.
    • ESO offers "Choose your path". If you do not want to group, ESO offers ways and mechanics for you not to have to do so. Like dolmens, bosses, mobs etc. You do not have to be grouped to get the rewards when you attack the same target as others.
    • YOU choose, YOU get the effects of YOUR choice. Don't want to group? Then you can not do a 4 man Instanced event. YOU don't like PvP? You do not have to, but then you do not get any of the offers features in Cyrodiil and the coming PvP additions.
    • ESO has several new Solo only quest lines coming. Other player types, like team players, PvPers and casual players who only play together with 1 or more specific people, are complaining that solo quest lines should NOT be solo. ESO offers solo play, and rightly so, working and releasing solo only option.

I am listing this for others of course, cause since you are very experienced and know the details of ESO, what it offers, and what type ESO is, I am sure you read the facts about ESO.

    End of discussion.

Btw, All vet ranks are Level 50. Did I say that?

Everything in this game is difficult to code judging by how long it takes ZOS to code hot fixes for massive game-breaking problems.

Most people would assume a developer would simply run a database query to obtain a list of these low level creatures that should drop guts when they are killed. Once that list is retrieved, you would think a script could be run that would update the table to include guts as the reward for killing them. Yet somehow an act of Congress is needed to fix something like this which most players and DB admins would consider to be relatively trivial. Not so for ZOS evidently.

Or - much more likely - it is already in the loot table but still not dropping, likely because of other functions in regards to loot and/or critters such as level checks, RNGs etc. This isn't Tetris.

That's sort of what I thought. You're right though. It seems to fix even the most basic variables it takes weeks or months to change. This game looks beautiful but I am confused why tweaking numbers is such a challenge for them. Take the sorcerer pets for example. Why did it take so long to figure out why they were doing extra damage? This game seems to purposefully defy Occam's razor and I don't understand why.

80% of bugs happed due to conlfict between different part of the code that compose the program... for MMO that have quite the complicated (or better to say extensive) code this is much more common... and it's much harder to identify the reason of the conflict and the specific line (or even just a parameter) that generate it...

also 2 similar bug may be caused by totally different conflict... even a single bug can be generated by more than a single conflict... (so you solve one... think the conflict is gone and than it pop up again...)

after this comes the remaining 20%... mostly composed by sintax error or missing implementation/indicization/reference of some function

so no... a game is not just a DB where you can find every problem with just a query ^^'

Yes, VR rank is a level. If I call my dog a goat ... that does not change what it really is. If Ford advertised the PINTO as a luxury vehicle, that does not make it so. You can give something another name or label, but that does not change the essence of what it is.

While he is strawmanning a bit, I have to take his position. VRs and classic levels behave by different mechanics. You can call an orange and a tangerine the same thing, but just because they look similar doesn't make it so.

Here are my thoughts, to avoid wall o texting:
Your whole argument is based on the idea that they are forcing to increase your 'level' by grouping. But the opposing argument is that they are not, if veteran ranks didn't exist using separate mechanics and providing separate benefits, then I'd agree with you 100%.

The point being made is that the minimalistic benefits of increasing your veteran ranks lies solely in your access to higher tiered gear. There is no extra damage scaling between units of different veteran ranks nor stat increase associated with veteran ranks outside of gear increase.

I feel the reasoning behind why the higher veteran ranks would be generally associated with group play is because the highest tiers of gear are supposed to be accessible to those who work together against harder challenges (e.g. raid content).

But this is all a moot discussion anyway because it's been announced that there's tons of solo content in the works, and since the availability of merely higher tiered gear is to be generally associated with group play, it makes sense to me for them to feel its ok to put off some of the more solo oriented endgame content like the solo adventure zone and new guild quest lines and the such.

In short, my opinion is that they're not forcing group content onto you to level up, they're forcing group content onto you only to minmax and get the best gear possible, while the game is fresh and they have to prioritize content. I don't quite see this topic as a problem, personally.

Needing to acquire access to those higher tiers of gear by using a similar process as leveling up shouldn't mean that one simply is leveling up more and being forced to do it by the same means as one normally acquires higher tiers of gear. That's my two cents.

Veteran ranks are levels, there's really no valid argument that says otherwise.
