Would you play on a Friendly Fire PvP server?

Yes I would play on a friendly fire enabled PvP server.
I would not play in a server that adds to my list of enemies my own faction.

I take it you're quitting when they add the justice system then?

Aside from the griefing, the other problem I see is what happens when someone did kill someone on their own side because someone from your team walked in front of you as you were casting, or a lv 10 walked around the corner during an intense battle and you accidentally one shotted him.

While I agree there should be a penalty for killing your own team, it shouldn't be as big as the one caused by griefers, I mean have played FPS games where I am sniping and some idiot decided to walk in front of me as I pull the trigger, or after a close fight, my finger is still relatively twitchy and accidentally pulled the trigger on my own ally as he walked around a corner, and the penalty is usually a longer respawn time, which rises as you kill more of your own team eventually being kicked from the game. Even in real life there are incidents of friendly fire, and even than the penalties are not usually as big in contrast to someone doing it on purpose.

And what about spies, what if they decide it would be a good idea to stand in front of you to obsure your field of vision? Make it hard for you to attack? Will you kill him? Or would you leave him because you don't want to incur the penalty?

I would happily try a pvp server with FF on, but it would have to be very well thought out for it to succeed...

Also to OP, you should have added a 'don't pvp' option as well for the pure PvE guys who detest everything about PvP for one reason or another but still want to vote, because now this poll is biased...Though in my honest opinion they shouldn't have voted in the first place as this won't affect them.

Other games I have played where "friendly fire" was enabled by choice or accidentally enabled resulted in massive team killings by players infiltrating
from the other side, or players who just thought it was "fun" to kill their team mates.

Interesting considering all the elite PVPs that wanted more realism. Cap the damage on friendlies but make it hurt enough to require caution, would stop some of the current nonsense and increase the skill needed to succeed.

To stop griefing you could invoke a time out - X frags in a certain amount of time and you get a timeout - repeat offenders get increasing duration.

I don't see how it could work in a game like this without a target system. In a 60 v 60 keep siege it would become pretty much impossible to ever take a keep again.

Only thing that would make this not work is stupidity and laziness of player. Yes really.

What it would bring could be new era for PVP where tactics and command structure really matters, a great sway from what MMO PVP players have learned to do over the years, run there and clash together, spam AOE.

You complain about spies and infiltrators? They are a reakity of war and would only bring more depth and meaning to PVP.

If you can not cope with complex systems of battle, be something else than warrior.

People hardly work as a team already, this would only make it worse. Not to mention the lag would need to disappear completely before anything like this should be attempted.

The numbers are good. The point wasn't to expect the numbers to be a majority yes, but to see if there is a population that would rather play on a Hardcore server. Going by the numbers out of 531 views, 152 people voted. 61 for yes, 91 for no (leaving in the PvE'ers that have felt the need to point out that don't pvp at all). Considering the majority of players don't visit the forums or have not seen this thread it's safe to say that hardcore PvP could have a community in ESO. C'mon ZOS, make it happen!

P.s. NO GUESTING on the hardcore server would be a must.

While I would in fact be interested in such a ruleset, the most likely result would be mass killing of "allies" around spawnpoints. If you could think of a way to prevent this then sure.

Why would you think that? Take any FPS CTF style game. While some spawn-killing does happen, they are a very small minority. Lots of games have spawn-point safe zones where friendly fire kills get you banned in that zone. In open area combat zones it's generally a 3-5 strikes rule and can be set between individuals or total kills. So the rules to prevent griefing of others already exist.

It would definitely add an element to the AoE spamming that I hate seeing in PvP right now. All the AoE spamming and stacking is what makes PvP play right now, for us traditional style builds, completely unplayable.

Justice system is not open PvP , nobody can even touch a player that is not taking part in it.

Even those that are taking part in it , will first have to reach a limit bounty before they fall into PvP.

Both of those are assumptions based on how they said the system will work until now , but if they work any different than that im quite sure the amount of complain will make them change said rule settings anyway.

The majority already voted on the other thread they would rather quit than play in a PvP server.

Because the OP used the word server while clearing meaning to say a cyrodiil.

Since he used the wrong wording many are voting like this is open world PvP , instead of just another cyro.

I clearly meant PvP server because PvPers know exactly what that is. I doubt anyone would waste their time asking for a whole new megaserver, that's not gonna happen. Really I could care less if a PvE'er votes for lack of common sense. The point of the poll is to see if there is player base that could fill a hardcore PvP server.

Which is irrelevant , if you just read the posts you will notice plenty are actually confusing this and talking about open world PvP or not having a choice to just avoid said server , which has nothing to do with the thread to begin with.

I dont really care either way , because like you i understand this would never happen outside the idea of another cyro , but what is obvious to us , clearly is not for everyone.

VR only, no guesting. Problem solved. And for the rest the player base would happily sort out among themselves.

Players that like hardcore PvP are a little different mind set than the rest. It's an either you get it or it's not for you type of thing.

In a heartbeat because it would end the idiotic PBAoE spammin the zerg blobs do. All those AoEers would go back to single target or ranged AoE (which is fine)
