How many Alts do you use for Mules

Storage is just sad. having all proffs in the game requires that you have mules. Most of my mules save provisioning items. They seriously need to fix that proff.

I have a family of 5 and I have two toons I've been leveling. Now that I am working on my crafting, I am starting to feel the pain of not having any alts for mules . I believe we can only create 8 toons per account, so that leaves me with 1 toon I can create to use as a mule or kick my kids off my account, which I really don't want to do.

@Kcttocs‌, there are a few options with this. If you break up your crafting between characters, they will only have to keep the mats for each individual's level.

It can give your fellow family members a 'job,' and you will find that you do not need every single item you can pick up as you level.

My other suggestions with this is that it may be worth investing $15/more per month. You'd also get the side benefit of being able to play simultaneously with your kids.

In regard to the guild thing, if you ask when you help people, 10 is not that hard to achieve. Open bank for give and take from people you know and trust goes miles. Most will deposit more than they ever withdraw and you can get the crafting skill spread among guildies easier this way. Do not send open invites in chat unless you want an empty guild bank.

I have several alts for holding - most of what they hold, I no longer require. Much of the rest, I am holding on to for Unique/trophy purposes, or because I am eagerly awaiting future functionality to be added to the game.

My main, in most cases, can get away with having as few as 30 items at any given time.

Add some bank space and some bag space on a horse and you can easily have room for 200+ on a single character.

It's a pain initially, but it's doable. Plus, having to occasionally clear out inventory keeps you from not repairing you armor every now and then.

Yeah, I'm going to have to say 0. I've got 16 alts, but I play them all. One of them carries all of my trait items waiting to be researched, but he's not a mule because I actually play him as well (he's currently lvl 18). Heck, my main regularly carries more than any of my other characters, because he's had his bag space upgraded the most and he's got a lvl 50 horse that's been upgraded the whole way for carrying capacity - he carries all of my enchanting stuff. My alts typically carry less than 10 items each, even though the only craft that I don't do is alchemy.

Edit: I should mention that a couple of my alts started out with the intention of just being mules. That didn't last long, because I couldn't help myself from playing them.

None. Bag space is generally not a problem for me, and using alts solely for storage just doesn't sit right with me. I've never used a bank alt in any game I've played. But to each their own.

I've got 2 mains and 2 mules. I'm trying to phase them out as I buy more bank space. I deconstruct most stuff I get so the bank is mostly for things that is needed by multiple characters.

1 mule is levelling up provisioning, so he's carrying all the ingredients, plus trait stones (which will go in the bank with the next upgrade) and the other is carrying trophies and extra enchanting stones.

Seven characters in total thus far, mainly to cover each alliance area from scratch without going on to spoil them with the veteran content, plus a few to try out different weapons etc, and with none of them being used as mules thus far. Perhaps that'll turn out to be what the eighth slot is for!

1, but she doesn't like being called a mule. Her name is Mula and she hangs on to my nifty trophies and mats that overflow the bank because I don't want to spend 6 figures in gold for 10 spots. She has her own pack horse.

I also leveled her a little to use her as a crafting/ decon partner since she's toting all that stuff around anyway, so does she count as a true mule?

I don't have any bank alts. I started to when I first began playing because I had no idea what food ingredients to save. And just coming off of Skyrim, I was thinking that all these different food ingredients I was finding were also alchemy reagents.
I have 3 characters, one in each faction and I've leveled 1 to V1, and the other 2 are in their 20's.

Where is the option for none? I do not have any alts. If you want a challenge or a headache, try maxing out all crafting professions without any alts and without the extra storage capacity horse. Now with the new refining and deconstructing achievements, inventory management is now even more challenging for me.

I have 4 mules. I also have a V9 Soc; V5 Temp; V2 NB and V1DK. Temp is 50 in clothing, smithing and wood. DK is 45 in Enchanting and NB is 50 in alchemy and provisioning.

One mule just keeps provision and alchemy mats, (I have over 200 of almost every flower and same on V5 food/drink mats).

Second mule keeps all mats for Templars crafting plus trait/race stones. Only keep crafting mats that can craft lowest toon so in this case V1-V3 stuff. I sell everything lower level.

Third mule keeps excess rune stones, my DK keeps runes on her and only those for V1 or higher glyphs...this takes about 35 spaces in pack. She also keeps gear for research. I'm close to 8 traits on all gear.

Last mule keeps jewelry sets and any other misc items. I do not keep the trophies except the ones that morph you into a skeleton, goblin, etc.

This works well for me and my time spent on mules is fairly small.

I'm only up to 100 bank space, and my adventuring characters are (mostly) around 80. (Mostly being in that two of my characters have pack horses that they've started feeding, so they've got 80 + horse inventory)

That said, I have 1 mule for "to be researched" trait gear & "to be worn" jewelery, and 1 mule to hold the mats of whichever character's turn it is to be adventuring.

(Note: I have 6 actual characters, one for each crafting profession. (or, perhaps conveniently, one specializing in each weapon style))

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. If you're doing all of the crafting skills while keeping materials for all levels (say if you're providing equipment, potions, glyphs, and food to guild members of different levels) then I can totally understand why people would need alts to serve as mules.

If you're not doing crafting, you don't need mules.

If you're doing all of the crafting skills, but only keeping stuff appropriate to your level, you don't need mules (except maybe to hold gear with traits that you're waiting to research).

Ahh bank manipulation. Basically I have 4 characters who I am leveling and 2 mules.

I keep all crafting mats and traits and style ingredients in the bank except Enchanting. Every character holds their own equipment to be researched except the character I'm currently leveling - who I'll dump everything in the bank.

One mule holds woodworking items to be researched and DE'd that I've held onto from my higher level characters. The other holds crafting materials that I'm not currently using. My 2 higher level chars are VR2 and VR1. My lower level characters are 17 and 15. So I have basically 2 "levels" of materials in the bank. the rest are on my materials mule.

I have 3 active 'mains', three secondary alts and one main banker. She sits in Daggerfall and holds excess basic crafting mats, high level improvement mats and odd-n-ends. The account bank holds trait gems, gear to be researched ( I have all tradeskills on my three 'mains ) and base materials up to stacks of 100 ( which then go into the banker's bags )

Every time I empty my bags in town it's a 10 minute alt fest as stuff gets banked, deconn'd and mats swapped over to the banker. It's kinda annoying, sure, but I've gotten it down to an art.

I have 6 alts, and none are mules. I do focus on storage for their horses, and I do a bit of trading back and forth because three of them have a craft specialties, but each of them is played legitimately. I only put in their personal storage stuff they'll actually use, and anything else goes into the shared bank. There is no holding stuff for another character. (The one exception being the explorer maps because it wouldn't let me bank them without opening the box.)

Inventory space is WAY too game in this space if you are a hoarder like me who likes to keep every possible combination of stats.
    I have
100 inventory space for stuff I use + 50 from horse to use when finding matts
    100 bank inventory for weapons
    1 mule for light armor
    1 mule for medium armor
    1 mule for heavy armor
    1 mule for trophies/rings/amulets

So my regular inventory would be 250 spaces.
Total inventory space required actually works out to more like 450.

Of course I'm only rank 7, and I'm seeing an increasing number of strange new item stats approaching rank 12.

I no longer have to be selective about my inventory and actually have the space to craft with this setup. I only wish I had figured out this setup earlier on in the game.

Changes I would suggest; make light/medium/heavy armor/general vendors offer 60 storage each for their respective armor types (and trophies/rings/amulets for general), or put in houses and give us more expansive storage.

    11 Mules.

About the bank space costs: after you've got your mule horse and your speed horse, there's not really anything left to spend money on in this game except inventory and bank space.

This makes me agree with the current costs, while lamenting the cause i.e. nothing worth buying except space for hoarding stuff.
