They tried to get a teen rating, but they failed, and now we have a mature rated game without blood splatter.

Why was there no option that said " I don't care"?

Gore even in mature rated games don't necessarily make them better, I personally couldn't see any amount of blood splatter in ESO that would make it a better game than it already is.

The only way they could get people in my opinion behind the idea, is if they added executions from Skyrim, but I doubt that would even be possible in an Mmorpg, that or it would just take too much time and resources to produce a decent result.

Honestly, does anyone really notice or care that there isn't blood splatter? Does the very fact make you want to stop playing? If you answered yes, well, you should probably look into games like Lolipop Chainsaw, Killer is Dead, No More Heroes, etc, etc.

I personally don't think I care too much about blood splatter, even if it was in the game, I probably wouldn't notice it, unless stated before, it was done in some minor enjoyable manner such as executions, but don't hold your breath.

    No.

Distracting, don't see the point, not aesthetically pleasing. Feels like something a 12 year old would think was "awesome" maybe, or someone who weirdly gets into to pixelated blood and guts, but for a game I expect to spend a lot of time with, it would add no value whatsoever to the game for me--in fact it would detract quite a bit.

Why does the "no" crowd get a request to explain, but not the "yes" one, by the way?

Gore is like sex in a game, it always turns out to be gratuitous. And, it gets old after a while.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

It doesn't need it. Why, so teenagers will feel more mature for playing it? Let the devs spend their time making us new dungeons & filling the empty spaces on the map.

I agree with the reasoning, I'm as much in favor for virtual maiming as the next man. But ZOS needs to be careful: some European countries (especially Germany) quickly take exception to graphical violence, while they have much more leeway concerning content of an erotical and/or sexual nature. I'm under the impression that in the U.S., it's exactly the other way round.

Anyway, the last thing I want to do, after authorities have (re)assessed the game and made their verdict, is to fight "humanoid robots" with "green blood" (these changes have really been forced on games before). :P

I voted yes, but I could take it either way. Blood and gore was present in the main series so it's exclusion here is somewhat jarring, but I'm not going to stop playing just because my character can't be soaked in the red stuff after a major battle. And now that I think of it, the carnage would probably just magically disappear after a short time to ease performance issues.

You have the right of it.

I don't really care for gore at all and I don't believe games need to be bathed in blood to somehow live up to their M rating, but that's just my opinion. I wouldn't mind one way or another.

The option for that was to not post at all. You must care at least enough to take the time to post.

No and no, but those questions are pretty narrow. I mean, how many graphical improvement does this game offer between low and ultra which you would not notice until they were added later. And just because someone offers a hypothetical about what might improve the game, doesn't always mean they will quit if they don't get it. There's also the possibility that blood could be toggled on and off like grass if people don't want it. I personally believe blood makes the combat seem more realistic.

Age of Conan actually has them and they even serve a purpose beyond the visuals, they give a large mana and stamina reg for a short time.

    I don't care.

What I care about is that they brake things that were working ok after every patch. Soul Tether is an isnta-kill skill now, got insta-killed today 3838HP before I used 5th ability in a rotation, 3115 HP, and 2.4k Spell resist and 2.4k Armor, insta popped... and I'm on crappy blue outdated gear at VR8 most of the gear is VR6...

I don't really care that much, but I guess I'd be fine if they turned it up a bit. It is just a atmospheric, and of course it should be toggleable. But eh--I honestly barely even value it that much, even with its immersive improvements to my personal experience.

Now if they tied it in with a disease system on the other hand.....

This is exactly what I was thinking of when I voted yes! LOL AoC fatalities were AWESOME! I don't need to see a lot of viscera of have blood drenching everything but some days... you really just want to see an enemy's head sail across the room. Just sayin'.... ;)

In AoC one of the fatalities consisted in smashing your blunt weapon in your opponent crotch and then ripping his head off with your bare hands.

    It never gets old. NEVER!

YES! But I'd like to see some finishing moves on the bosses too. It would be a good competition to see who in the group got the last hit and everyone would get to see him or her climb up on top of the bad dude and shove his sword into his skull or decapitate and watch the blood spurt.... Muhaha!

would be cool if i could decapitate, or as a wear wolf rip off their arms. more blood would require more processing, but animations are cheap but fun. So far I have been pretty impressed by some death animations

The question I would pose (for any game really) is "How would increased gore improve immersion or atmosphere in this game?" For ESO I don't see more gore adding value in anyway. It's a fantasy role playing game not a horror or gritty survival game.

I dont really want gore for the sake of being disturbing, but i liked it in the series because of the feeling of interaction with the world. if i was brutally pummeling someone with a hammer, id probably expect to get pretty bloody. Not even gore necessarily, but even stuff like wear on weapons and dented armor, little things that change contingent on the players actions like that make a big impact . Things like that wouldnt really be feasible, though.
