Hey, just thought I'd pop in here and share my thoughts while I'm still trying to recover from heat-related issues (ok, it's actually more humidity then heat, but whatever).

This issue sounds awfully similar to another issue we had when Rift 2.6 came out. It introduced a new profession, made a portion of the game that was often overlooked more important, but unfortunately, most chats were mysteriously disabled. And not only that, the Rift mobile app also had its guild chat mysteriously disabled.

It took Trion Worlds engineers a full week afterward to bring the chats back online, and another week to get mobile functionality restored.

Luckily, since it was clearly Trion's mistake, they went ahead and gave everyone a "Writ of the Speechless", which granted the title "the Speechless", but more importantly, they gave everyone 3 Transcendant Trove of Boosts, which included xp boosts that helped numerous people get from levels 50-60 (if you ever play that game, you'll find that getting level 50-60 is a grind...just like Veteran Ranks).

Now, I get it, Trion isn't ZeniMax, but Trion is also deploying a major patch this week (actually, tomorrow, August 6th), so literally this major update could put Trion in ZeniMax's shoes tomorrow.

Although ZeniMax isn't likely to give everyone free game time after this, ZeniMax did the right thing and contained the damage by disabling guilds on NA and also preventing the issue from popping up as well in EU by disabling guilds in EU too. Yes, I understand that guilds are an important factor in ESO, but I guarantee you that ZeniMax is making this 100% top priority.

@ZOS_GinaBruno‌ seriously, it's been almost 24 hours, this is a bit outrageous at this point, especially when you stated the problem was found, and supposedly going to be fixed when the EU server came back on. It's time for an update at this point.

We just posted an update about when we'll be reinstating guild functionality in our official thread about the issue here:

The North American megaserver will be offline on Wednesday (August 6th) beginning at 8:00AM EDT, and the European megaserver will be brought down at 10:00PM EDT. We anticipate each maintenance to last a few hours, and when the servers come up, all guild functionality will be back.

We understand this has been frustrating and an inconvenience, but thanks for hanging in there while we work through this!

So in my timezone in UK i wont have guild chat till thursday?

Please can you ask the powers that be to extend the 1g respec by a couple of days due to this?

I have a lower level guildmate who hasn't got to the city with the respec shrine yet waiting to be able to travel to me to use the shrine, but with the current situation my status keeps switching back to show as offline, and there is no guild roster available either, so (what with busy work schedules and everything) these problems are effectively limiting some peoples' opportunity to take advantage of the week of cheap respec.

I know this issue is unlikely to affect many players, but it would be a nice gesture for those few who cannot get to the shrine because all their friends appear as offline and cannot contact guildmates for help.
