Appear Offline messed up?

Since the patch yesterday, appear offline doesn't seem to be working. All day I was marked offline and I didn't know it, but all buisness went as usual. I could be PMed, I could be whispered, I could speak in guild chat (for as long as that lasted anyway), I could group and be traveled to... then, as I was actually going offline, I noticed, well, I'd been marked so. It had been behaving as if I was available!

I am happy for the ability to mark myself offline because sometimes I just want to play alone and in my own world. Yeah. I wanna play an MMO alone sometimes. We exist. But it also helps when we are doing a lot of alt hopping to keep from spamming our log ins and outs. Is this actually working as intended? Or is this bugged now?

I noticed this too - it might be because some of the social functions have been disabled for the time being, I was going to wait to see if it was still doing it when they were switched back on and if so report it in game.

For me it kept resetting me to show as offline, multiple times, but was not behaving as if I were marked as offline.

Like you I often switch to show offline when switching back and forth between characters so that my friends aren't spammed with log-in/log-out messages!

It's bugged out. It's happening here as well, and each time I log on to a new instance, this error message appears: "Social and display name functionality has been temporarily disabled."

If that is their way of saying "Guild functionality has been temporarily disabled." then I think they need to lay off all those Snake Sherries I gave them a while back.

When it is work, where is the option to set offline and online status? I have ask around and spent a long time trying to figure out where that option is located.

You'll find it on the social/friends page, which is mapped to the O key by default.
At the top, you will see your user name, with a little downward arrow next to it. Click on the arrow and you can select from several different options such as "Online", "Busy", "Away", and "Offline".
