Bow Problems After Patch

Just got into the game after patching 1.3. I hit an enemy with the Snipe ability and it seemed to do no damage. FTC registered damage in the fly text, but the enemy health bar wasn't even phased. Also tried poison arrow, draining shot, light/heavy attack, and none of them seemed to be dealing damage to the mob. Then, suddenly its health bar went from full to dead. Is there some disconnect between me and the server? Maybe lag, but everything seems smooth on my end. No ability/movement delay. It just seems that the server is taking longer to register what I input into the game.


I should also mention, this doesn't happen with my DW setup, only with bow. I also just noticed, If I unload with everything I have like normal (Snipe, Poison Arrow spam) the mob will just stand there and I'll get the 'you can't do that sound' and then the mob dies with a full health bar.

    I ran through a Delve today and saw that on a mob. I assume it is server side lag issue. Only saw it once, but it was weird.

    You're probably right, it just seems weird because I'm used to lag on my end where I can't do anything, where as now it's smooth on my end and laggy on their side.

    Would it still be server side lag if it only occurs with bow abilities? My DW set is working like normal, only with bow and its abilities do I get the issues. Wouldn't that suggest something else related just to the bow? I don't know for sure, I just want to be safe and make sure ZOS doesn't have a bigger issue on their hands than just lag.

    I just had that happen as well. Shot from sneak, and it did nothing. Both baddies charged me, and, in a panic, I was backpedaling away and firing as fast as I could. They were taking no damage. Then, suddenly, they were dead.

    I'm a Dragonknight, and my DW doesn't seem to have such problems. As soon as I switch to my bow, though, it starts.

    Out of curiosity, while fighting an enemy, I tried just a light, quick shot, just a tap of the mouse,to see if it's the heavy shots that are affected. My character lifted her bow, pulled it all the way back, and paused, taking longer then I had held the mouse button. She then fired. It didn't affect the storm mage she hit for a second or two, in fact, she got off one more shot at me, then tipped over dead with no further attacks from me.

    Yep, my bow is broken also. Damage takes up to 10 seconds to register. My other weapons work fine. Also, I have crashed 2 times so far from swapping to my bow.

    I was having this same problem a couple hours ago, but I just logged in and tried it again and the bow is working fine now. (At least for me.)

    Yep, log out has worked for me also, but it keeps coming back, like the herp

    Same here. Something I notice is no arrow is being fired, and no arrow is being readied. I think the weapon swap broke a lot of things

    I'm noticing severe bow damage lag in PvP...

    ..had a fight about 1 h ago, one on one, where I was firing my bow at him and he wasn't taking ANY damage. The fight lasted 20+ seconds... I was just about to die when he, who had full health, dropped dead.

    I guess it all hit at once.

    1 step forward... 3 steps back.

    Same issue here. The mobs are taking bow damage but their health bar is not showing the damage taken properly.

    1 out of 10 mobs I kill either:

    1) health bar desynchronizes upon initiation of combat and stays 100% until they just... stop moving. 2-3 seconds later they fall over and die.

    2) health bar reacts to damage as expected. Upon reaching 0% they just stand there for 2-3 seconds as I fruitlessly fire off attacks attempting to "finish off" an already dead but standing corpse. Then they fall over.

    *Note: This is not a latency issue. Monitoring my latency during these "situations", I am running 90fps on ultra-high settings the entire time.

    This appears to be a, client side, lag in death animation coupled with intermittent health bar desynchronization.

    This seems to only happen when using bow abilities

    My skillbar:

    Skill 1 Lethal Arrow
    Skill 2 Critical Surge
    Skill 3 Venom Arrow
    Skill 4 Lightning Flood

    yep..this has been confirmed in pvp too...people going from full HP to dead with no indication they were taking damage from bows till they died.
    Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
    Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
    Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
    Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
    Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
    Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
    Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

    Yes, that was the exact ability that started it all for me. Crouch---> Lethal Arrow. I can't say for sure it was the only one that, but it was definitely the first. Venom Arrow, Draining Shot had the 'desynch' issue as well, but it seems that Lethal Arrow 'initiated' it (if that makes sense). It hasn't happened so far to me today, hopefully it was a random glitch that fixed itself.

    I've had exactly the same problems and it's quite annoying when your build is based on bow abilities!

    In fact, when the bug happens, the arrow is missing from the bow. You're basically firing air... Check in first person view and tell me if it does the same to you

    I have it with unmorphed Snipe too. As a matter of fact, I don't see any arrows shot. If i switch to other skills meanwhile and start killing, HP bar decreases and mobs will jut drop dead at half HP or whatever they lost from bow.

    A friend of mine does not have this issue with same abilities. I guess it is random or an addon causes it, though I don't use FTC or any combat related addon besides Srendarr buff bar, but it's not the culprit either.

    I can confirm this. The arrow is missing from bow animation when these abilities desync health bars and induce "death lag".

    This is indeed caused by basic attack, heavy attack, and all bow abilities, albeit intermittently.

    Confirming same problem here. Just came back from camping trip. First thing I do is the patch, then get into game with my NB and start firing my bow. First thing I think: Where are the arrows? Next thing I think: The enemies aren't taking any damage! Then boom! They keel over dead!

    Adding to this, I am experiencing this same problem without using lethal arrow first. Happens whenever I use the bow, no matter what ability I use

    Same issue. Dozens have reported it. The lack of a response seems to indicate they have no idea how to fix it.

    I thought the bow nerf was a dumb idea anyway. With a staff I can hold down heavy attack for half the animation, then clip it with an ability and still get a good portion of a full heavy attack damage.

    It seems they want to make it so you either sit there and wait for the full bow animation or get no damage. That seems like a terribly one-sided and ham-fisted "fix" for some stupid PVP issue.

    They needed to make sure only the first hit out of stealth got the passive bonuses, not add some stupid Rube Goldbergian mechanism to the damage done to enemies!

    A simple variable, 1 or 0, on the PLAYER ONLY (to avoid this garbage lag) that gets set to 1 when you stealth and immediately to 0 as soon as you use any attack that connects. Only leaving stealth and re-stealthing can reset it to 1 for the passive bonus.

    Nerfing (and breaking) bow like this to solve a problem with stealth detection is really pretty terrible.

    Any time something in PVE gets broken in an attempt to "balance" something in PVP the world loses collective IQ points.

    This was not intended on ZOS side. I played 1.3 for several weeks on PTS using bow builds before it went life and I NEVER saw this once. Somewhere between PTS and live this "hiccup" occured. This issue is not being addressed by ZOS at the moment because they are tunnel visioned on making sure the new guild features are working properly before they think about anything else.

    when i equip my two handed hammer with no weapon in my second slots it looks fine.

    when i then equip a one handed mace in my second slot it looks fine.

    then when i equip my shield my shield is invisible and my two handed hamemr turns into a two handed mace.

    no combination of having a two handed in one slot, and mace and shield in other slot is working.

    i glitched it so bad trying to get to to look right eventually my two handed hammer ended up in my inventory under apparel....

    It's back. Most of the day yesterday, and today until just now no synch. issues. Now it comes again. Has anyone found or heard of a fix for this other than logging out?

    I just noticed as well, even the sound of Draining Shot is gone. I hit Draining Shot and the mob just flies back with no warning, sometimes with a delay sometimes not.

    On a side note, I really think an Archer personally offended the devs in the past and that's why they hate bows so much lol

    It seems to be fixed for me as well. My husband came home, and I was like 'Here! Look at this!', and of course it worked perfectly. I haven't had any issues since, so they must've ninja patched it or something.

    The issue seems to be happening still, I just had it again, this time the bow did not even pull back but it fired. Stam went down, mob was aggroed. Reloaded UI, logged out and back in, still happening.

    It was fine for the first 30 minutes or so, then started happening again
