An in game mail showing this info is still the best option though.

If I have 100 listings and I get a mail that tells me one of my listings sold, I want to know which listing it was without spending an absurd amount of time looking through all of my listings to try to figure out what I sold. And if you have a job and a life, often times that info isn't even availiable any more on the sales logs.
In addition, this is a very simple feature that is found in every other MMO that has an auction house. This has been examined multiple times. If you ask again I will dismiss you as a troll.

Stop with the troll comments. Just because you fail to see that what we have already is far superior to the thing you are requesting, it does not make me a troll for continually pointing it out.
But anyway, to answer your hypothetical, a quick look at your store listings will show where you have a sale slot available. It works on the exact same premise as going to the crafting station and seeing 2/3 research slots being used.
You say you don't want to scroll through multiple listings to figure out what was sold, but dismiss @Syzmicke's question "What does it matter as long as it sells and you get your gold?"
I'd really love you to answer that question because currently the guild sales history is more informative and current than the information you are requesting. It is one of many examples in ESO where ZOS have taken a "feature found in every other MMO" and has improved upon it.
As for claiming anything in a MMO is 'simple', not only is that rarely (ever?) the case, different game engines handle things differently.
You yourself have unknowingly raised a potential issue. That is, the ability to join 5 guilds simultaneously may seriously impact the mail system if everyone's characters were requesting individualised data from each guild they belonged to. I am not stating this as fact, by the way - I am not a programmer - but I have played enough MMOs to understand there is a reason we have limits on quest journals and store listings.

Translation - Seeing who bought your item allows you to pester the buyer with spam in an attempt to sell more.

Way to lump everyone into one category. I can't imagine very many people would bother to spam anyone. This is stereotypical hogwash. Even if I did decide to actually send someone a whisper, I would never do it more than once. The mail you get is from gold sellers, not people that you buy from on guild stores or auction houses.
Absolutely agree that we need more detailed information about our sales. I am going to try the shopkeeper add on. Thanks for information, Gillysan.

Quite the opposite really. You can state your noble intentions all day long, and/or espouse your proclivity to avoid spamming on your part (though even one simple /tell from you would still be spam, regardless your intentions). Simple point being, unless you were specifically asked by a buyer to continue trade, anything else on your part is spam. And while YOU feel that you are capable of reigning it in... The mechanic alone would be open for abuse.
