I've become pretty good at healing after resisting for so long, but it would definitely be awesome if I could get into a serious trial group with my Templar DPS. I don't need to be vastly superior to Sorcs, DKs, or NBs at it, but being viable would be awesome.

There are templars pulling 800+ sustained dps in trials they are not exactly gimped.

I think they are one of the strongest classes people just don't understand how to play them. Here is a hint biting jabs is not the only skill a templar has!

Would you mind linking a video?

EDIT: A templar pulling 800 dps is not that remarkable when the other classes can pull well over 1k dps.

As far as cyrodiil goes, almost all of the guys with decent templar builds are heavily reliant on vampire skills, I'm not saying the other classes aren't doing this but take vampire away and the average templar sure is a lot weaker than the average Joe of any other class.

I'm looking forward to trying a stamina build once the update hits, at least on paper there is a possibilty templars can create some beastly stamina builds.

This is simply not true. At v12 I cured vamp for PvP and am much stronger. Loved vamp for crushing solo pve as temp though.
I see this claim a lot, but I've yet to see an impressive Templar pvp video that isn't heavily relying on Batswarm.

I always wonder about these Templar claims of magicka management issues. As far as I know (personal experience, reading forums) every class is using Spell Symmetry for magicka management in group PVE DPS roles. Are Templar spells just that much more expensive to cast?
Spell symmetry is only reliable for trials and efficient farming dungeon runs (like V12s rolling over Waywrest over and over again in order to farm). Spell symmetry is not reliable in situations where losing health is more dangerous, including pvp and dungeon runs without overpowered members.

Yes, all templar spells are more costly. Its best to look at just pure dps spells and compare the casting cost to damage dealt. Very quickly you can see every templar dps spell is about 20% more costly (25% when compared to a sorc)

But that aside, all classes have Spell Symmetry to get mana

But all classes also have a DPS attack that returns mana (not saying they are GOOD dps skills but they do return mana)

Dragon Knights have Sea of Flames,Drain Essence
    NightBlades have Siphoning Attacks
Sorcerer (excluding Dark Exchange) have Endless Fury

    Templar's have........

The solution then seems pretty clear. Either:
    A. Reduce the cost of Templar spells across the board
    B. Give the Templars some sort of mana management

What is not a solution is to fiddle with some of the Templars' individual abilities, which unfortunately is the approach ZOS seems to have adopted.
Templars are 'just slower... by design'
Yes, Gina actually said that (at least regarding Rushed Ceremony) right here:
