Make Emperor More Accessible

I am not a hardcore, live in my moms basement, 16 hours a day in cyrodiil type player, thus i will never achieve emperor, the top people on the leaderboards have an absurd amount of alliance points. Is it possible to have a current emperor that receives the full emperor bonuses and a secondary emperor which would be the person with the most alliance points that does not already have the emperor skill line unlocked. The secondary emperor would simply have that skill line unlocked but not receive any of the active emperor bonuses. This would allow everyone no matter how much they play a chance one day to eventually have the emperor skill line unlocked because all of the people ahead of them already have it unlocked. I hate that an entire skill line in the game is basically impossible for me to ever access.

Makes total sense. I can't think of one empire that didn't have a 'runner up emperor', 'honorable mention emperor' if you will, that enjoyed all the same benefits (besides being the alpha emperor) of the actual emperor.

yea, in fact they should just hand out Emperor title to every single person that plays, in fact lets make it so that when people create their character it automatically just goes to vr12, get all titles, all acheivements, top level orange armor and weapons, then after one fight with a level 0 mob your character will start playing itself and will send you emails of what it's doing while you aren't on the game.

This seriously needs to end. You can't just beg for everything in this game. Well, of course you can but don't!

The whole Emperor thing was meant as a reward for those that are top of the leaderboard - meaning -have contributed the most in a campaign. If anyone could be an emperor (without having all those AP) it would defeat the cause.

What will it be next? "lower the difficulty and level of the trials so my level 20 DK could join"?

tl;dr : Some rewards should stay as they are. Otherwise they lose their meaning.

You can be the emperor's decoy if you want. They'll dress you nicely, send you to a party and you'll get a taste of the high life. The only downside is that you'll probably be assassinated shortly, but what people wouldn't do to be an emperor for a day!

That ship has already sailed as emperor trading was (is?) rampant on several campaigns. There are now more former emperors than regular players on some campaigns. The Emperor title has no meaning any more.

Yeah, I agree with that. But ,to be fair, that's a totally different discussion.
Lets just hope it 'll end with the campaign limitations in 1.3

This could be very easily solved by making it so that if you have been Emperor once, you cant be Emperor again.

Emporer is a dictator basically. The Imperials are modeled after Rome. If there was a back-up Emperor or anyone that could gain that level of support they would have been assassinated ASAP by the reigning Emperor.

The amount of "former emperors" running around already is reaching an absurd level. In my opinion, ZOS needs to remove former emperor buffs and create incentives for players to try to hold the title as long as possible.

Emperor title already passes hands -too- easily. It should not be so easy to pass around like a ten dollar ***. 'Emperor' title means very little anymore, and I definitely agree that former Emperors should lose the buff. Only the current emperor should receive the buff (maybe even strengthen it), so as to make holding the position actually mean something.

And by select minority, what Mahogany really means is: A ridiculous amount of people who have it from boosting for about 250k+ alliance pts every 8 hours with players or friends on alts in other alliances if using defense bonuses and V12 vs V12. That time can go up to a few days of playing 8 hours per day if they are being boosted by lvl 10s.

It's become a joke now really. The only thing worthwhile is that skill line and is what most want it for --- of course some do like the "former" title or that black & white sunflower looking outfit, however I don't see why.

Just dump the Emperor skill line.
Make it so the current Emp gets a bonus, but not skill line.

Sorry, thats how it played out in my head when I read it. Kinda came off as pointless QQ which gave birth to a bit of trolling. If its any consolation I just got done reading Sheogorath orders pizza.

Constructive: Someone said it earlier in the post. Its not meant for everyone to obtain. Gotta have prestigious e-peen, only a few can obtain it type items in MMOs. ESO doesnt really have the items, but Emperor is the one big e-peen thing you can brag about if you get it.

Obtaining emperorship should be based on skill. It has nothing to do with skill. It is based on time investment.

While I dont disagree with what your saying entirely. I honestly cant say I know many MMOs that have found a way to fully reward skill that way.

MMOs themselves are really just an investment in time. While PVP itself is generally about skill, even climbing the leaderboards (even in WoW) requires a significant invest of time (collecting gear/etc).

So once again not that I disagree with you, but I really dont see much other way to go about it.

OP gives a suggestion as to how, and I could be wrong but I think that would accomplish little, except taking away from the rarity of Emperorship.

I think even under that system it would be the person with the most time invested, and the vice emperor would be the person with the second most time invested.

It is a joke, I agree. Just an FYI, though -- the "black and white sunflower outfit" is actually the Aether set from Aetherian Archive, and is not in any way associated with Emperorship or PVP.

Some random thoughts; make an alternative status like emporer slayer akin to the werewolf/vampire division that offers equal but different benefits that is accessible to all, and have it be unlocked by killing emps/former emps.

From your post I assume you are a Nightblade, going to play solo.
Unfortunately if you want to become an Emperor that is not the way you should play.

You need to join groups, defend and attack keeps and play at least 4 hours per day exclusive in Cyrodiil. If you are good player, you will do it.


I do not live in a basement, I work and playing a total around 12 hours in Cyrodiil per week. Yet, I mass around 100K-130K points (and I mean Emperor points) for the same period. (around 8k per hour).

If I was playing 4 hours per day, I would have had amassed enough points to become Emperor on my campaign, however I do not care.

FYI I am a Templar. DKs or SCs can gather more Points due to higher damage output and greater survival ability.

I do agree however, on the Time vs Skill debate, no-lifers are the only ones who can achieve it, if you work your screwed, but they could add a sort of skill-meter and it gets evaluated on your performance in combat, k/d ratio's and such, adjusted after every day (like you had for example in Bad Company 2 MP, I know its something completely diffrerent, but their you had online ranks awarded on skill)

yesterday i saw an former emperor.
he was lvl 25 and pvp rank 3..

I think Emperor should be killable by your own faction with the justice/bounty system and the second in line would get the title and so on... that could be really fun.

And DEFINITELY IN THE ES spirit !!!! (Mora tong/ dark brotherhood style) !

It would be emperor trading though but...

what if you could only kill your emperor only when he is in the imperial city ?? no easy emperor trading and really fun

I am never, ever going to achieve Emporer. And I am totally fine with that. There is a significant challenge associated with gaining it, take that away and it loses it's meaning. I'd rather it not exist than become something anyone can just get 'because they want it'.
