Akavir in the future?

Hey all, personally always had a massive interest in the lands East of Tamriel known as Akavir, many of you who even slightly follow the lore will know of them.

Not any time soon, but potentially in the future would you players like to see these lands released to us? As a new zone or (Zones)?
The lore of the place is great, there's a Demon type race, Serpant men, Monkey people and Tiger Dragons! I imagine it's something that would take A VERY long time to make, more like an expansion pack. But I wouldn't put it past Zenimax to do it as they're a very skilled.
Like I said I don't mean anytime soon, possibly in 2 years minimum.

Give me your opinions please! B)

with about only 30% of tamriel release at the moment I doubt it will be any time soon. Very cool idea for the future though. We also have to find a lore friendly reason as to why we are going there.

Totally agree with you Xnemesis, release Tamriel or most of it first. I look forward to that new zone near Skyrim, the solo PVE Zone. I would love to see the West side of Skyrim released too, would love to return to Whiterun and other citys familiar to Skyrim, will be amazing... and also scale the mountain where the Dragonborne priests people reside.

I want to attack them and watch me get dragon shouted off the top of the mountain and all the way into Cyrodill!

Maybe in the future, right now there are still issue with the game/client.
When the only problem will be balancing issues and smaller bug, maybe could be interesting to talk about adding a new continent ;)

Mysterious Akavir could be total BS. It's an in-universe book, and all other accounts about Akavir and the Akaviri races are ambiguous at best.

I would rather have ZOS concentrating on Tamriel before an excursion to the Dragon wonderland of Akavir.

What are "Dragonborn priests"? If you mean the Greybeards... they are not Dragonborn.

Yeah agree with you GFB, like I said with releasing Tamriel fully before concentrating on Akavir, the same goes for bugs and stuff, concentrate on making it solid first. :)

Thalmor that is what I meant, the name couldn't come to me at the time, you're right. And regarding the Akavir being potentially false, it could be. But I remember reading about battles between invading armies of Akavir in Tamriel and so on.

I'd prefer for the whole of ESO to be on Tamriel or the planes of Oblivion. I think Akavir's mystery adds to it's charm.

Even the true nature of the Akaviri invaders is shrouded in mystery. The Tsaesci are supposedly serpentine but humanoid, so argonian-like? Or is their serpentine nature merely metaphorical for their tactics and personalities. They're also supposedly vampiric, which makes me wonder if it's from daedric influence or naturally occurring, or again metaphorical since we've never seen one.

I kind of feel like, for the time being (or until a TES takes us there), it might be better off left as lore instead of fully fleshed out.

I would think they should introduce the Tsaesci, as they were just ruling the Empire as the potentate for the past 500 years. What they look like really shouldn't be a mystery as they were just ruling all of Tamriel. If the expansion into the Imperial City for patch 3 includes access into the White Gold tower, wouldn't there be portraits at least of the Tsaesci Potentates? Not to mention possible encounters with any surviving Akaviri that served the Potentate or survived the Invasion that takes place about 2 decades before the events in the game. So maybe hold off taking us to Akavir, but at least introduce us to the Akaviri since they were pretty active in Tamriel during the second age.

Personally, I am hoping that when or if Akavir gets some attention in a game, it will be in the Single-Player games where they can really do the environment justice.

Don't get me wrong, ESO is a nice game, but it just doesn't do immersion at all well.

I've been fascinated with the Akaviri for a long time. I'm all for something Akaviri related, although I think actually visiting the continent may be quite far off.

At this time the Akaviri should be in the public conscious much more than we actually see in game. I remember on the EP starter island, a Nord mentions the Akaviri snakes and I was really excited thinking there would be more Akaviri lore in the game, maybe we would even meet some Akaviri... alas, that was pretty much the last I heard of them.

Only 10 years before the events of ESO, the Ebonheart Pact formed to repel an Akaviri invasion. Plus, the last true leader of the empire was the Akaviri Potentate, who was an adviser to the last Reman emperor and eventually had him assassinated. He ruled for almost 400 years until he was assassinated, then his son ruled for 100 more. When he was assassinated it threw Tamriel into the interregnum. They were Tsaesci, or vampire snake men (whether they are actual vampires, or just a very long lived beast race is up for interpretation).

Anyway, with all that in mind, having some Akaviri themed content makes perfect sense. I would love to meet a Tsaesci or be able to get an Akaviri motif (katanas anyone?).

Actually, when you play on the Ebonheart Pact side, the invasion of the Akaviri is a major part of the story. You actually do quests where you talk to the reanimated spirits of Pact soldiers who died when Vivec flooded the coast to drown the invaders, and they do mention there being monstrous snake people and "demons."

So, definitely supported in the current iteration of the lore.

EDIT: Lamias and Harvesters might even be distant relatives.

I don't think we should ever be allowed to visit Akavir, but I feel like with the latest Akaviri invasion being so recent, there really ought to be a few of them hanging around Tamriel.

Given the alliance war, or simply the dynasty that held the throne after the Akaviri (Reman? ) I would imagine the portraits would have been burned. A large concession for allowing players to become emperor is that the vast majority of documents/historical writings during this time were constantly being destroyed during the Interregnum.

Edit: completely had my timeline mixed up, reman was before the potentate. Absolutely possible we could run in to Tsaesci.

Ha! Seems we were writing up almost the same post at the same time! :)

Also, I have a feeling that the Dark Brotherhood addition will touch on their split from the Morag Tong, which may have been a result of the assassinations of the Reman emperor as well as the Potentates... so maybe we'll get some flashback scenes to those events.

Personally I don't see us going to Akavir when if the alliances can't agree on invading Coldharbor none of them are going to be willing to send away troops on an expedition to Akavir. Plus a whole new contient seems better to be content for a future ES game.

However I could possibly see a future adventure zone where we find a group of Akaviri hold outs that took advantage of the war to take over a small region of Tamriel.

Though I do wish we would finally get a definitive answer on if their bipedial or serpentine.

An Akaviri motif would be a great idea, and lore-friendly, too. Seems to me all other games had Blades armor and weapons, which are Akaviri-influenced.

I could see Akavir as the setting for a new faction (featuring playable Akaviri races) in a future expansion (as in: years down the road).

Aside from that, I would like to see more Akaviri items and some characters in the game. Lore-wise it makes a lot of sense that there would be more than we've seen so far.

100% this. Akavir is a land absolutely shrouded in mystery which is part of its charm and I think it would be best to leave it that way. I would even be hesitant to set foot to far in there in a single player game by Bethesda (not that I would be uneasy about them being the ones to introduce it, it would just lose some of its luster I believe). I feel the same way about the disappearance of the Dwemer, I really don't want to know. I love the theory and mystery surrounding that event (as frustrating as it may be to not know :) ). I'd be much more comfortable with an Akaviri Motif or quests dealing with any remaining races of that continent on the mainland.

Akavir (or, at least, the Akavirian people) exists. They invaded about 15 years before the start of ESO, and most older members of the Pact remember the invasion.

I really like the idea of seeing Akavir. I believe they invaded not once but actually twice. Versidue-Shae's rein for instance came after Emperor Reman II if I recall correctly, and he was one of those Tsaesci snake-vampire-men. Based on lore as well, they also had actual humans, the Tiger people, Monkey people, and some other 'beast traces'. A lot of the Imperial gentry are actually related to Akaviri warriors who invaded in that first invasion.

The Tiger Dragon was just one cat man, and I have a feeling that this individual was a dragonborn in Akavir. Who knows though, Akaviri don't play by the same rules as Tamrielic characters.

I agree it is not something likely to be released soon but I certainly would love to see them in the future.

And it's funny how they mix up the two Akaviri invasions at that. While talking about "snake people", the invasion halted on Morrowind's beaches should be the one of the Kamal, not the Tsaesci.

    As said. Ambiguous at best.

In Oblivion, the Tsaesci are represented by human ghosts for example.
Are they really vampire snakes? Have they enslaved or assimilated a human culture on Akavir? Or are the more animalistic descriptions of Akaviri just a way to demonize the invaders?
