Acid Spray Critical Bug

Richard.A.Ferrellub17_ESO
Acid Spray (Arrow Spray Morph)
This ability is incorrectly using spell crit instead of weapon crit.

- Test 1: 0% spell crit / 34% weapon crit
Over 100 uses, no critical strikes

- Test 2 (adding Magelight): 7% spell crit / 34% weapon crit
6 out of 100 hits were critical strikes

I use bombard on live for my "thunder thief" build and have no problems getting crits. Is this not true for the other morph?

It is my understanding that "weapon" abilities use "weapon" crit.

It should be using weapon crit regardless of effect, yes.

Might be that the game consider poison as magic...

How about another Test with Lethal Arrow and Focused Aim?
These morphs from Snipe are as well with Poison DMG (Lethal) and Phys. DMG (Focus).
    Same goes for Poison Arrow.

After running more tests between other bow "poison" abilities and their morphs I got the following results:

    >>Snipe (Morphs) - this one took some time to do

    Test 1: 0% spell crit / 34% weapon crit

    (Focused Aim) - "Physical" damage
33 out of 100 were critical hits

    (Lethal Arrow) - "Poison" damage
36 out of 100 were critical hits

*results consistent with <weapon crit> as the contributing statistic

    >> Poison Arrow (Morphs)

    Test 1: 0% spell crit / 34% weapon crit

    (Poison Injection) - "Poison" damage
36 out of 100 were critical hits

    (Venom Arrow) - "Poison" damage
34 out of 100 were critical hits

*results consistent with <weapon crit> as the contributing statistic

    >> Arrow Spray (Morphs) - verification for comparison

    Test 1: 0% spell crit / 34% weapon crit

    (Bombard) - "Physical" damage
35 out of 100 were critical hits

    (Acid Spray) - "Poison" damage
0 out of 100 were critical hits

*inconsistent results for Acid Spray, Bombard seems to use <weapon crit> as the contributing statistic

Test 2: (with Magelight): 7% spell crit / 34% weapon crit

    (Bombard) - "Physical" damage
38 out of 100 were critical hits

    (Acid Spray) - "Poison" damage
8 out of 100 were critical hits

*results consistent with <spell crit> as the contributing statistic for Acid Spray

CONCLUSION: Acid Spray is the only "poison" weapon ability that uses spell critical as a contributing statistic instead of weapon critical. If "poison damage" was intended to be "magic" and therefore use spell crit, these results show inconsistency with that logic.

Can anyone confirm that this holds true on live who has the ability? It is rather expensive to respec for verification. If not, this needs to be addressed before 1.3 goes live. It is hard to surive as a critical surge sorc when u can't crit.

Good research. This should indeed be in error and I hope you and others have reported this.

This explains a few things for me. A while back I respecced and tried Acid Spray instead of Bombard and hated it. It just didn't feel useful at all. Low damage compared to Bombard, and the lack of a stun seemed useless.

Now I realize why! Thanks for putting the time into this.
