How hard do you think the game is in general? ( Dungeons, Questing, Trials, pvp)
Generally speaking if I pay attention I'm fine if I eff up I die, some packs of mobs are arranged in the environment in such a way that they're slightly more of a challenge. I'm fine with it as it is now, but then I'm not huge engorged epeen l337.
I'm confused. Which dungeons are you talking about?
Public dungeons (which shouldn't really be soloable), delves (which are meant for solo players), or group dungeons (impossible to solo at their level)?
Those Dungeons
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"
If you play an MMO as its supposed to be played with others, then the game is very easy and seldom fun due the pure lack of challenging situations. You often cant even cast a spell before your tank crushed the mob and heals are almost never needed.
If you play solo then a few mobs can offer you a challenge, such as world bosses, public dungeon bosses or guild quests. Still the game is pretty easy and not actually hard at all.
Dungeons in general tend to be too easy for a group of 4, if you die then usually due bad play and not due the difficulty itself. I have seen people facetanking every attack, casting damage spells while they should heal ... You can predict the outcome easily with those in your team
I played with a tank and a healer so far, one is Stamina the other Magicka and I would even go that far and say the tanky play was even easier do the fact that I hardly took any damage while casting a heal once needed. Not the fasted playthrough, but also not hard.
During Beta and early release the game was more challenging than it is now, exactly right for groups of 2 or 3. Pity they changed that
The reason i made this thread is just to see if im the only one that thinks that the game is way too easy, the meh option i tried to change it to not too hard, not too easy , but i couldnt
I would say quest, public dungeons, regular group dungeons, and world bosses are easy. You can solo all of those with little challenge. The vet dungeons and trials I give a meh due to it can be easy or hard depends on your party. When you group with a pug, it can be a wipe none stop no matter how good you are. I went to a few vet dungeons cleared it in 20 to 30 mins. Then other times could not clear it passed 2nd boss. Either a dps kept dying or healer did not heal. I was ok but the party died a lot on standing in fire. One fight not enough dps on and boss went into enrage.
Do we also know what the average age is of the ESO player base? And also the number of years that the player base has been playing games? I can understand that if you're new to MMO's and PC gaming that this game is very hard. If you've been playing for 25 years like me, it's a little less hard.
I've soloed about 2/3 of the v1 areas naked, as in, I've not been wearing any armor and I've only just reached v2. Even without armor, my stats are high enough that I still do moderate damage and enemies hit almost hard enough to make the game feel challenging. Tbh, I had a little bit of a brainstorm last night and decided I wanted to try a "Deprived" build, similar to the starting class from Dark Souls. I'm going to start a new character, have him wear his soul shriven starter gear, use fists and non weapon skills only, and see how far I can get, lol.
Honestly, just the fact that I'm considering this is disheartening, I feel like any game that's so easy should probably just get put on the back shelf, but outside of pvp I'm not finding any challenge at all. Almost every puzzle in the game has the answer to the puzzle either on the wall or on a note right beside the puzzle so I've only found I think two puzzles where I had to think for more than a couple seconds.
The bugs make the game interesting, really. They're annoying, especially when it costs you your ultimate or makes you suddenly get hit hard, but in the end they usually make you think and react depending on what happened, which actually adds to the enjoyment for me. If I spent my magicka, burned my stamina, and blew my ultimate only for it to bug out, then I have that couple seconds following where I think "well... crap, what now?" and I enjoy those moments because that's about the only time this game feels challenging anymore.
Pvp isn't really challenging, so much as "spam heals, here comes another kamakaze dk spamming aoes and banner." but hopefully Zenimax will deal with that soon.
It is hard to give a general answer because game difficulty varies tremendously, IMHO.
1-50 zone PvE is quite easy, IMHO, even bordering on too easy. The dungeons though are a big increase in difficulty, especially the bosses. VR content used to be very difficult, it seems.
Heavy usage of CC abilities makes this game really faceroll. Without CC abilities an naked it could by very hard. But i do not gimp myself and for me it is faceroll.
I find it to be much more of a better balance now, though a player's experience can be subjective based on how far in the game they have gotten.
Levels 1-50 can be rather challenging for first time players. However, for those whom have played their way through all of Vet levels, going back with a new character and knowing the dynamics of battle and how to properly block and attack makes a huge difference. Going through level 1-50 now and it feels easier to me. But it could also be the difference between playing a NB first and a DK alt.
Vet 1-3 can seem hard until you get the hang of it. This is where you actually learn how to properly play your character and pretty much start specializing in skills that best fit your character with your style of gameplay.
Vet 4-8 is pretty much the same but the enemies hit noticeably harder.
Vet 9-12 again the difficulty is noticeably raised. Mobs also seem to be more packed together.
Since the nerf in vet level, it isn't as bad as it was. I was at Vet10 when they nerfed it. The only difference I found is that I could kill the mobs just a wee quicker and they did a little less damage to my character.
So I chose Meh as my answer since you didn't put up a balanced option.
