Horrific Ability Lag

I am still getting really bad ability lag. I hit a button for an ability and a lot of the time it doesn't fire. Even when i hit Q or R to active a potion or ultimate I find myself just having to hit it over and over again in hopes it fired. This happens both in PvP and PvE. It messes up timing when I am trying to play the game. In PvP its crucial to have your timing down. I do not know if its me or the game itself, lag of some sorts, I do not know. I know this has been an issue in the passed, has anyone had the same issues and found out what may be causing it?

It comes and goes for me depending on the patch/update. It seems to have reared it's ugly head again with the last patch.

It's pretty random but I noticed it is more likely to happen in full PvP campaigns and peak hours in PvE. I'm also getting stuck a lot again for example with volcanic rune. Have to activate it again to get unstuck.

It's got to be either server side or client bugs because I was in a PvE +dungeon the other day and there was one other random player (not grouped) and we both got stuck at exactly the same time and both had to log out/in to fix it.

Yeah I still have this bug as well. My standard use of Ultimate and 1-5 keys so I don't just stand there is:

ESC x 2, #1, ESC x 2, #1, ESC x 2, R over and over. Without hitting the ESC key twice my keys don't fire most of the time.

I hit the R key 5 times the other day and not a damn thing happened except I died.

Potions are generally unavailable to me upon entering combat.
I have no clue why, but the potion window is blank.
I go into the quick access wheel and the potion is queued up, but it just aint available.

I got it too, after Monday's patch. It is very sporadic so at first I thought I was just seeing things, until my 5 year old started yelling over my shoulder, "Daddy Heal" as I slowly died to 2 normal lower level mêlée in PVE, all while trying to spam my instant heal.... Had 75% mana and my correct button that I was pressing, no they were not interrupting and I was not stunned.

I find myself mashing buttons. Im a nightblade and when im in PvE timing is everything for me. I got to kill my enemy while stunned, recloak and do it again sometimes. When I click concealed weapon sometimes it doesn't go, then the game catches up and it did go but now the guy is out of stun and im confused and have to recoup etc etc etc. Or i do get the concealed weapon strike it and immediately go for my impale...doesn't fire. I hit it again thinking maybe it was to soon, still nothing then eventually it fires. Even just clocking light attacks sometimes ruins me.

One of my guildies has reported this problem since he started playing 2 days ago. It is weird as he is the only one in the guild that really suffers from it (one other veteran player encounters it sporadically). This one guild member reports dying because of it at least once in 5 minutes or something.

We are trying to search for the problem as only a minority of people seem to encounter the problem (based on the number of people in my guild that report the problem in comparison to the number of people that do not report the problem). Is it an incompatibility issue with some hard-/software that all the people with the problem have in common maybe?

Have it on my NB. Do not have it as severly on my Dk. May be related to the combat freez with the NB. But it has been there since launch.

I have this issue at least once every 5 to 10 minutes, at this point it is truly gamebreaking to me as I do not feel as if I'm in control of my character and often die because of it.

upon reading Seravi's comment I noticed the animation cancel, which to me seems like rather than an input delay causing the skills to lag, the animations are causing the issue. Nightblades especially seem to have this issue alot, at first I thought it was lag related, however, since the enemies are still able to walk around and cast their spells upon you and your client registers it just fine, it seems to me that an internet issue is out of the question.

I'm hoping to get some feedback on this soon as it is a truly frustrating issue causing me not want to play the game, and it's a real shame since I'm really fond of ESO and its potential.

Note: Every time you cast a spell(Or hit a button) your computer needs to upload data to the server, using internet bandwidth and speed.

ESO seems to be very un-optimized from a internets point of view.
I beleive my internet actually has delays during large scale cydrodil pvp, yet I have never had any of these same issues on other MMO's or Multiplayer Games, ever, which shows me ESO is definitely at fault.

My PC maxes out ESO at 60fps+ in most situations, actually usually 90 when running around outside cyrodil, when I had loading delay in cyrodil i was at ~40fps.

I have port forwarded my router and my firewall settings are correctly placed.

The problem remains.

And this is the same problem that causes ability lag, as my abilities werent casting either.

Another Note: The vast majority of Americans have internet bandwidths under 20mb/s and download speeds under an actual 6mb/s, anything higher is rare and likely fiber.

It's in PvE also. Having problem with combat respons,opening containers, Farming nodes. All have sporadic but frequent loss of respons. From a second up to 10 - 15 sec. Glenumbra was bad but stormhaven even Worse. And yes i have alredy chequed the Internet Connection and all suggested solution. My ping climbes to up to 800 and then i sometimes i get kicked off the server.

Just a point on Latency. If you are running with a satellite ISP unless they are using LEO, Low Earth Orbit, satellites your latency will be about 20 times longer than with cable or DSL. The best I have ever seen out of Direct TV’s ISP was 500ms pings. That in itself will create problems with gamers.

Used to get this before but it seemed to improve for a while, now it seems to be back with a vengeance and have had it happen a few times since the latest patch, (EU server).

Also had all abilities and light/heavy attacks lock out completely last night, hitting ESC twice didn't fix it and death soon followed

Having the same problem. I've died multiple times in PvE due to sudden lag spikes. At the moment, the game is unplayable. Seemed to have started after the latest patch.

I assume this is the "No attack bug" that you are experiencing- I think it has been around since launch (at least for me it has). But I too noticed it was much more frequent this past weekend.

For most people, hitting esc twice, hitting "I" twice (or other commands like bringing up the skill window , chat mode, etc), using the /reload ui command, or alt tabbing out of the game will snap you out of the unresponsive state. Unfortunately none of those work for me (btw, I play a destro staff sorc). I have to either wait it out (usually 1-2 minutes), log out, or die.

Seems odd that it would be caused simply by a lag spike, as I can't attack, but I can move around freely and watch my groupmates attack and move around apparently in real time without lag.

I've also wondered if it is due to a particular combination or hardware, but I have played on two different computers with dissimilar hardware and it happens on both. Perhaps a router or ISP issue? (I have a high tier Comcast connection).

I know that bug but thats not what I am talking about. Its basic just unresponsiveness to commands. You hit an ability and it just doesnt fire when you hit it. Like some sort of lag. It comes and goes. Sometimes it fires right on que but more often it doesnt.

Hitting the button for an Ultimate Ability is like committing suicide. You will often / usually see it fire AFTER you die.

This issue has been with the game all along to varying degrees. It's ridiculous that the combat is still so unresponsive. It really doesn't look like they are capable of fixing it.

I'm seeing this too, it was the sole thing that put me off buying the game after the Beta tbh, 6 months on I thought it would have been one of the first things fixed, cannot believe its still here.

Sometimes its just like the buttons aren't responsive and you need to hit them 2-3 times to get them to register,
sometimes its like it take 1-2 seconds to register and the past few days its been like 30-60 seconds of nothing, I can run around, see others running around and hitting NPC's or players but I cannot do anything other than move around.
Considering this game is "twitch" based. this is a game killer.
Its bad enough when your being *** in PvP because of it, but when you are losing loot and XP in PvE content due to it, man thats really bad.

Its basically a game breaking bug and it still isn't fixed this long after launch? wow thats some crazy bug fixing priority right there.

Ok sure its only 1-2% of the time, but its enough for it to be really annoying.

I thought it was maybe just me and my connection to the game, despite me being on a pure fibre connection of 300/30Mb, but lots of people in game were getting it yesterday and today.

Lots of people here on the forums and ingame are experiencing this so WTF is going on with the Devs not fixing this? or is it a fatal flaw they cannot fix?

Anyways, i've played for a week or so and this is the only thing thats really put me off, maybe ill try again in another 6 months.

Such a shame as I like this game a lot, but I just cannot handle such a game breaking thing.
