So... what's the plan for Heavy Armor?

We've known for weeks now that the devs are taking a look at heavy armor, which many people feel is obviously inferior to light (and a casual stroll through Cyrodiil will confirm that feeling). We've heard some hints here and there, but nothing really recently... the Quakecon panel noted that Stamina builds were being looked at, but nothing specifically about Heavy Armor (please correct me if I'm wrong). There's nothing on the PTS AFAIK either.

So I'm wondering: what is the plan? How are we going to fix Heavy Armor?
Templars are 'just slower... by design'
Yes, Gina actually said that (at least regarding Rushed Ceremony) right here:

Heavy Armor is fine, unless you are a min/maxer

Maybe they can crank up the % on the Health Recovery passive in Heavy Armour, in order to push Tank-built characters closer to the new softcap.

the problem is you are a stamina build... not that you have heavy armor on

I was thinking about changing to magicka but stamina works too well with my build/ character. I'm an Orc. Orc racials help a lot with stamina. Also I use burning breath which applies an armor debuff and slows the enemy by 30%... Again helping with stamina. Plus because heavy armor is gimped, most don't use it, thus having less armor, so I deal more dmg with my stam build. Idk...

    Or unless you PvP.

    Because I can!

Heavy armor is not gimped, you can get to the armor cap easier and add stam or magic glyphs to be at par with other builds. Stamina builds where designed for medium armor and heavy armor was designed for health which you can get to cap easier.

The problem is in stamina builds and the fact that you can reach caps in armor in light with glyphs easy... its not that heavy is broken its actually that light is broken and min maxers use light and therefore all heavy armor users think they are "gimped".

Fact is you can play the game in heavy armor just fine... but you can do the same in light...

How are we going to fix Heavy Armor?
With a bit of experimenting, Heavy Armor can be made to work pretty well.

Here is the stat sheet from my VR12 Breton DK with a full set of Heavy Armor:

That is a good build, but you can max either Magicka or Stamina with health if you dont want to overcharge.

Also if you are a caster with heavy armor you can add Magica (or Stam) to max and and still have about 3200 health.

Yeah, in my case i just wanted to see how far i could push it. With some more careful planning i could have used some of those overcharges somewhere else.

    Oh well, next time ...
