If Zenimax hasn't released the numbers, then they aren't going to let a moderator on their forums confirm or deny an un-cited statistic.

It's probably true given the industry source.

Whether the figure is good or bad depends on at least 2 things.

Is it providing the projected return on investment?

If the business model is predicated of a million subs it's not good.

What are the trends?

If 775k is a data point on a steep downward slope then it's not good.

That 775k includes my sub and i've cancelled the renewal on that for the time being.

But let's hope it's good news. Seems a healthy number if they can keep hold of it.

It's probably more of an educated guess based off of trends, and how other MMO's have done and not hardcore numbers.

If you take the Beta number of 5 million Beta users and looks at normal trends you get about the same numbers.

If there are 775000 subs...where are they? Not in vet areas...I know that second life shows users online and it seemed much more crowded at lower numbers. I haven't been to pvp much but I have never seen like more then like 50 people in viewable area at one time....

From what I can see, in-game population has declined drastically since launch. The 775k figure is from June, rather than right now.

I think the number of active players is much less than 775k. A lot of inactives are still subscribing, tho, but might not be so in the long run.

I doubt we will never get a concrete number of subs for a long time. Especially since consoles are not ready yet and that market is very large.

I've only seen an increase in population, both in leveling areas and VR content. Maybe we're playing different games.

most MMOS are profitable at far less subs. Swtor was targetting 500k for thier magic number and that means profitable not sure treading water. I expect, 775k, is strongly profitable. If so then I think its good news.

If they continue to fix stuff and keep throwing out content at a regular clip and making stuff we want, and keep pvp vibrant I think this is a very good thing.


From the newbie zone I think its on the rise.

Impossible to say, the article says it's unclear where the info comes from. Ignore the writers speculation, he's already said it's not known. Which makes the article speculation based on unverifiable claims.

Or to put it another way, a rumour about a rumour.

No way we will find out if it's true, the internet will probably just start assuming it's correct, which means anyone trying to find out gets the same source, which is basically gossip in another format.
