Could we make it so quest related crates and barrels could be opened by multiple people?

Basically, I'm doing the quest "Raise the Curtain" in Malabal Tor, and I have to follow this monkey around to retrieve items from crates. I need the last one, but there's another player who has been sitting at the quest related crate for several minutes. I'm not sure if he happened to be afk at that moment, or is just griefing here, but as a result I can't loot that same crate for the quest item:

Relogging only put me back in the same instance, but yeah. Could we make it so that only quest related crates, barrels, etc. can be looted by multiple people simultaneously?

This game is so hugely inconsistent, sometimes you get the effect you suffered from, other times with other items there's no such problem.

What I also hate is ZOS throw-back to the 1990s where some quest items are spawned such that only one player can get them before they despawn. Last night there were 6 or 7 of us running round trying to get 5 plants which were of this type .. I did that back in 2004 in WOW and earlier in FFXI, competing with umpteen others for mobs and stuff, why is this mechanic still alive in 2014 and why in this game at all?

Agree. This can stall quest progress. I often have to wait for several people to move before I can interact with quest objects.

    This ^^^

Especially when some miserable twonk watches you take out the mob guarding the quest item and dashes in and grabs it, then you have to wait for both mob Nd item to re spawn before continuing.
