I wouldn't play an MMO unless my wife played too. It's more fun, and takes away all the angst about spending too much time playing games when she's right there with me. Its something I really like to have in common, and gives us all kinds fodder for discussion.

Aren't something like 35% of MMO players female? There's a lot of 'em.

Of course, it sounds sexist, but considering its lack of social and cosmetic features, this particular MMO is probably not as appealing as ones like WoW or Lotro, to most (not all) women.

We all can get frustrated with companies. Because we cannot produce these products our selves, we are basically going all in on faith for people to make us quality products. We have to be vigilant for the bad companies that really are out to push out poor products to make a quick buck, but I don't feel that's any developer's position. Most in the industry want nothing more to make a great game that people enjoy. It's ok to have principals, but you must also have a bit of understanding and acceptance, and it's good to have multiple perspectives.

What if you bought a regular console game. would be the same price as ESO, but unless it has multiplayer, and DLC, you are only getting about 10-50 hours of play, depending on the game. if eventually you got bored with this, you would have to wait until a sequel came out a few years later, and thus spend another 50-60, or get it later used, just for some new content.

You're right, rumours has it that the former AD Empress of Wabbajack is actually female IRL.

@Blackwidow‌ you're so lucky. I only get to play to my heart's content when I'm overseas, though I have not been home for close to 6 months now.

Well 50% of marriages end in divorce so odds are either you or your wife is going to get one.

ESO will always be there for you though...and it's likely the less expensive than looking for a future ex-wife.

Consider yourselves lucky for those of you who have your significant others playing with you. My wife will have NO part of pretty much any video game that I play... However she does redeem herself by coming to the range with me on the weekends. Nothing is sexier than a hot blonde with a big gun!

    "4 bits a day".

Each individual piece equals to 12.5 cents. And 4 bits would be 50 cents. Which is basically what we all pay to play the game.

And to quote Paul Harvey, "and now you know the rest of the story".

What are you doing??? Are you CRAZY? We're not supposed to be LEARNIN' on the INTERWEBZ! ;)

Seriously though, only you (the OP) know whether the game is worth staying subbed to or not. If 15 min a day is good enough to keep you hanging on - that's your call. For some people it's enough. For others, it's not. Like you said in another post in this thread, folks very well might have differing opinions.

My wife and I play together constantly, a few hours a day. Often more on weekends. We love the game - now. Will that change? Eventually, sure - no game is infinite, and if new games keep coming out, we'll eventually move on.

But for now, we find the sub well-worth the expense. $30 a month for two subs is about the cost of a movie for us to go to: 2 hrs of entertainment vs. however many hours in a month we want to invest. To me there's really no comparison.

Ultima Online is still up, and has been since I was 12. It will likely continue to be up for the foreseeable future. 17 years is a loooooong time.

But if we're speaking in absolutes, dark energy will eventually render the universe an empty husk devoid of everything as it will ultimately accelerate everything beyond the speed of light and thus not even be visible. We'll all be (by a very large stretch of the term since nothing will actually be anymore) extremely dead by then. But hey, can't ignore them absolutes, so I suppose game universes can't possibly always be there for anyone...since the universe itself won't be eventually.

    Well .. it's more than $15 dollars a month for me. My real cost for playing ESO involves all the extra stuff I have to do to keep an uncomfortable stasis in my home environment .. so I can sneak in an hour whenever I can;

    - $20 -$30 every 2 days for a nice local red (peace offering to s.w.m.b.o)
    - $30 a week for wife's movies
    - $80 a week on snacking out @ our local Thai restaurant
    - $$$ deserts added to the weekly grocery bill
    - 2 - 3 hours every weekend to help in the garden
    - a foot massage EVERY damn night
    - 2- 3 hours a week of nagging that I'm setting a bad example to my kids (they're adults btw)
    - $2500 ish for a new overpowered media optimised laptop for s.w.m.b.o .. so she can facebook and complain to her friends about her husband's end-of-life-crisis (had my mid-life years ago .. )

.. so yes, my ESO habit is starting to take it's toll on my quality of life.

    Interesting thread.

My wife and I (celebrating our 35th this year) are having a grand old time in Tamriel, although we've occasionally stopped to visit other worlds (a week in Wildstar, no thanks, and occasional returns to D3RoS). Once we hit VR, things slowed down a bit. More significantly, when the first Campaign ended and AD kicked everyone's arse in Auriel's Bow, AD gave up (been there, done that) and now DC is getting their turn at the top. AD isn't even showing up for this 2nd season, so Cyrodil isn't fun anymore, and that was my wife's favorite part of the game.

We're spending more time in D3RoS these days, and come back to ESO mostly to fill out all our crafting research projects, but we plan to come back fulltime with update 3.

I think it's a great time to be a gamer.

OP, I am sorry, but your argument is invalid.

Not everyone has an insightful and understanding spouse to shore up their concerns. Until ZOS provides fair balance in spouse distribution, your insights smack of dress-wearing elitism.

Either balance spousal distribution or nerf wives! XD
