@Araflin‌, you are not alone in recalling the height of video gaming. Now try to wrap your head around where it will be in another 30 years... (Do you recall Adventure? - nothing more terrifying than fighting a dragon that looks like a duck!)

Something to consider, though, you probably haven't had to swing a sword daily for the last 20-30 years either? I think scars would be aquired, but I think the tone would probably stay more than expected. (Given the environment, staying alive that long would be considered an achievement.)

Ahhh, @Merlin13KAGL, you reminded me of those wonderful 100% runspeed boots that also turned you blind Thank you! Was the reason I changed my character from a Khajiit to an Orc too.
(And before anyone says; Yes, I know you could increase your magic resist so the blindness didn't affect you).

Oh, and I did used to swing a sword most weekends. But that's for a different thread

I had no idea you could get around the blindness like that!

Sai Sahan's beard aside, I would like the option to colour head hair and facial hair separately. It's not unusual to see a brunette gentleman sporting a ginger-tinged face rug.

Indeed...put on the boots, cast 100% dispel magic - speed stayed, blindness went...(As long as you didn't have mer-feet... )

Quest rewards that felt like, well, rewards...and having stacks of shiny stuff everywhere because you looted it all, and you kept 99% of it - just because you could!

I believe you collected those (Boots of Blinding Speed) from the same place that had a chest suspended in mid air...

(It DOES include an end game issue some may not want the read though)

If I played a Redguard and sacrificed Sai Sahan in the final part of the main story. Can I take his beard rather than his sword? Please.

Sai Sahan is one of the coolest NPCs ever and not just bcoz he's muscular and can fight like a demon (this coming from a semi-muscle head 41 y.o.). He can also joke about himself too - awesome sense of humour. Also, I love the beard - Sai Sahan's beard has a beard!

Also, good point about the Argonian and Khajiit women. Never realized that b4! :-D

This is how I understand it, as a long time TES fan.

Lore-wise, female Argonians are not supposed to have breasts; they're also supposed to have beast feet. Khajiit females are supposed to have 2 breasts and beast feet. Their original depiction in Morrowind is correct because the team working on it was incredibly ambitious. It made for more work in all types of character animations (Argonians even had their own unique swimming animation!), and special exceptions for armor for beast feet and female Argonians. Lots of people liked this, but lots of people didn't, especially the part about beast races not able to wear shoes. There was no special beast race shoe type; there should have been.

When Oblivion was announced I was following all the news and many of the devs were talking about Argonian and Khajiit beast legs. Early pre-alpha screenshots were passed around in the community and the issue of whether beast feet would make a return was a big deal. There were equal numbers of supporters on either side of the debate: Beast feet were immersive! Beast feet were never in Arena or Daggerfall! Make special armour meshes for beast feet! Beast feet walking animations were silly and dumb!

In the end, it came down to resources. With so many voices on either side, Bethesda chose the option that required the least effort. That is, just make Argonian and Khajiit feet similar to the other races so they could all share the same armour and animations. The tails alone are already a pretty big effort in themselves! Might as well do the same for Argonian female breasts so that they can use the same armour skins as the females of other races.

I like to think that with every new TES game Bethesda (or ZoS) breaks ground on, there is someone on the staff begging, pleading for the return of beast feet in character art and lore. But they eventually get turned down when it becomes clear how much extra effort it will take, for two races which are already admittedly underused in the community.
