Why ESO doesn't have trial?

Hi there, everyone. We appreciate your desire to discuss a trial for ESO, but please keep this thread from devolving into comparisons and discussions of other games. Thank you!
Michelle, you used the word 'devolving', which has a lot of hidden meaning in the way you used it. It seems you are looking down upon any other game but this one, when in fact this game is hardly the pinnacle of games. Why can't we compare this poorly conceived game to other games that are much better? Why cant we point out things that other games do much better than ZOS does in hopes you will bolster this game?

Personally I find the mentality behind your comment repugnant.

No, she said the comparisons were devolving, not the other games in comment !

ummmm....errrrrr...sorry what was this thread about...oh yeah, something about trials and devolving...

    ESO is most definitely devolving...

Judging from the little information the OP has I an guessing the poster is not very well informed about ESO. ESO has had trials for some time now. My guess is the OP was intending to send a different message than actually typed and maybe the poster is not very familiar with what the content is in the other game he mentioned.

In either case, we have trials before the other game was even released. Wow, fabulous.

Pretty sure he means Game trials, not The Craglorn Trials.

However how many Games give you your first sub month for free. regardless of the fact you still have to pay for it, its much longer than any trial, and gives you enough time to fully explore

Dude, Learn to comprehend what you read. "From devolving" Means lowering standards, to belittle. "into comparisons and discussions" which is the action being taken and "of other games" which is the focus of the actions being taken. Her pint was that this thread is altering from the perceived topic and turning into a comparison of ESO and other games, which is something she apparently does not think anyone should ever be doing because ESO is the only thing we are allowed to discuss.

The word "devolving" used in this context means to erode, or basically to lose focus from topic and start discussing things that are not on point.

    Cartoon graphics. Bleugh!!......

All cgi, including teso, are "cartoon" graphics. I am sure you meant childish colouring book graphics but really, teso is no better graphically than any other game. If anything it looks like a massive repetitive urine stain. But I agree with your sentiment, of WS having some foul graphics :)

    edit;

    Gameplay / content> graphics.
    Preferably working content > graphics.

Yes, welcome to the ESO forums. You will find similar rules on every other gaming forum ever.

You can't go on WoW's forums and compare it to ESO or Wildstar, or Wildstar's forums and compare it to WoW. Forums for a specific game are for discussion of that specific game, not for discussion of a totally different title.

Actually you are allowed to discuss different games on wow forums. This really is the first game forums Ive ever seen that that is not allowed.

Everywhere? YouTube? Reviews? It's really an awful game. I wanted to like it, and I tried the beta before buying ESO cause I was unbiased, but I really couldn't play past lvl 10... Don't even think about comparing it to ESO.

Hahaha and what does YouTube or the many mainstream game review sites say about ESO?

I'm not a fan of WS either, but if we're listening to YouTube or game sites, then WS is fairing much better than ESO.

But you're welcome to your opinion.

The only thing 'repugnant' here is that you are gleefully reading-into what she posted. "Hidden meanings" - for real? Next you'll be telling us about Zenimax's black helicopters.

Seriously dude - you ask rhetorical questions, which come across as immature and silly. "Why can't we compare this poorly conceived game..." Poorly conceived in -your- mind, maybe? Or did you have some 'hidden meanings' there, too? That's precisely one of the reasons it's normally not allowed, to prevent flame-wars and *** from coming out of the woodwork.

The reason most game forums don't allow the 'vs' threads is because they inevitably break down into pissing contests. Here, fans of ESO will stick up for ESO, while haters will hate. No one will change the mind of anyone on the other 'side'. That's the way it's always been going back to the 90s, and the way it will always be. Nothing constructive will come out of it, and the likelihood of verbal conflict resulting from it will be high.

If you want 'legitimate, level-headed comparison discussions', you're probably going to need to find yourself a forum not belonging to a publisher. Of -course- publishers don't want you 'comparing' (which, based on your tone, is just a 'hidden way' of ragging on a game) their game to another in their own forum - what do they have to gain by it? I.e. Most likely those people posting here are already subbers of ESO - so even if ESO 'compared favorably' to game X, what is it going to gain Zeni? Nothing. But if it DOESN'T compare favorably, then they might risk losing subs.

And to the person saying 'this is the first forum where I've seen such a limitation exist' - well, you're blind, or you don't play many MMOs. Every MMO publisher forum I've been a member of has limited this sort of 'comparison-based discussion' for the reasons I listed above, to one degree or another - if they have moderated forums.

You like WS? Go play WS. You like WoW? Go play WoW. You wanna bag on ESO in a non-constructive way? Go somewhere else. I don't go rag on EVE, WS, Aion or Final Fantasy Online (all terrible games in my opinion) in their forums. By the same token, why should people come here and expect to have an open podium to rag on this one?

you mean you tube reviews like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov3B26h12C4 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnCIW7JwnVI

The points in those videos are already fixed. Not only that, but neither of these guys are experienced in reviewing mmos. I would rather trust the opinion of my grandmother.
